Abstract

Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed naturally from the died marine organisms. Limestone is used in various industrial fields, such as paint, plastics, carpets and soil pH regulator industries. PT. Sugih Alamanugroho is a limestone mining and calcium carbonate powder producer company. To produce calcium carbonate powder, limestone is dried, comminuted, and classified by size. The drying process reduces moisture content less than 4%. Then, the limestone is crushed by a jaw crusher and followed by secondary crushing by means of a hammer mill. The results of the secondary grind are crushed again using a modified grinding machine. Calcium carbonate powder will pass through an 800-mesh screen into the cyclone collector using a blower. In the cyclone collector, 800-mesh powder falls into the bottom of the cyclone, while 1200-mesh powder comes out of the cyclone and enters the cloth bags. The position of the feed on the side of the modified grinding machine is able to reduce collisions with the product. From the entire production steps, calcium carbonate powder products were produced, but did not meet the production amount target due to obstacles that occurred in the form of power outages, replacement of spare parts or equipment maintenance, machine breakdowns and late availability of spare parts.

Abstract

The development of a suggested model for rating suppliers is the goal of this research. In this study, suppliers are rated and ranked using Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS) and Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA). The suggested approach incorporates both objective and subjective criteria while applying Delphi to a subset of the criteria. In order to test the proposed model in a leather company for actual use, a case study is provided. The model is able to capture all objective and arbitrary criteria in the dynamics of the group of decision-makers when rating suppliers. To help in decision-making, this proposed model includes criteria selection. Because the results of the ranking of suppliers will depend on how accurately the criteria are chosen. The suggested approach produces a workable resolution because it is not sensitive to changes in the parameters

Abstract

Generally, gold processing in the world is carried out through a leaching process to extract its gold content. One of the techniques commonly used in melindi gold ore, especially those with low grades, is the heap leaching method. One of the companies that manages gold with this technique is PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow. In the heap leaching process at PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow, there are several parameters that determine the final result of this process, including the concentration of dissolved oxygen and the size of the ore. This study aims to see the effect of aeration and ore size on percent gold extraction through the principle of leaching with the agitation leach test. This study used gold oxide ores with sizes of +6 and -6 mm. The two measures were each subjected to aeration and non-aeration treatment in the leaching process for 48 hours. From the results of experiments that have been carried out, it was found that the highest percent of extraction was produced at a size of +6 mm with a non-aeration treatment of 90%. While at a size of -6 mm, the highest percentage of extraction was obtained in aeration treatment of 84%. After data analysis, it was found that these results are highly dependent on oxygen levels and base metal content in the leaching process.

Abstract

This research explores the viability of bioflotation as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional chemical reagents in processing copper sulfide ores. It primarily focuses on the interactions between bacterial cells and chalcopyrite concentrate. A key objective is to identify bacterial strains suitable for use as bioflotation reagents. The study specifically examines the interaction between Citrobacter sp. strain SKC-4, a bacterium native to sulfur-rich environments, and chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) concentrates over a 30-day period. This bacterium is known for its ability to produce biosurfactants and oxidize iron and sulfur, making it an ideal candidate for various roles in bioflotation, such as biocollectors, biodepressants, and biofrothers. Experimental setups involved mixing chalcopyrite concentrates (-200+325 mesh, 25% w/v) with the bacterial strain (10% v/v) in modified LB media under aerobic conditions with constant shaking. Periodic sampling facilitated subsequent analyses. Results indicated biosurfactant production by the bacteria, as evidenced by the detection of hydroxyl (OH) groups, amine (NH) groups, and glycosidic bonds (C-O-C), along with the identification of hydrophilic C=O groups through FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) analysis, suggesting the presence of biodepressant, biocollector, and biofrother properties. Surface tension measurements consistently showed values below that of water (71 mN/m), supporting the biosurfactants' potential as flotation biofrothers and biocollectors. These findings suggest that employing Citrobacter sp. strain SKC-4 could substantially reduce the environmental impact of using chemical reagents in the flotation process. This study not only proposes a sustainable substitute for traditional flotation reagents but also demonstrates the potential of bioflotation to improve the efficiency and environmental sustainability of copper sulfide ore processing. The adoption of microorganisms as bioflotation reagents could transform the mineral processing industry by minimizing chemical use and environmental impact, contributing to more sustainable mining practices.
