Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of interval training on 30-meters sprint speed in elementary school children. This study emphasized the importance of appropriate training methodology to improve students' physical fitness, particularly in speed ability. This study used a quantitative methodology with a quasi-experimental design featuring a pretest-posttest control group. The study sample consisted of 54 sixth-grade students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group underwent interval training for four weeks, while the control group followed traditional physical education instruction. Data collection was conducted by assessing the 30-meters sprint. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and non-parametric testing, specifically the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group from pretest to posttest. However, there was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the posttest results. These findings indicate that interval training can improve sprint speed, but has not shown significant benefits compared to traditional techniques. The uniqueness of this study lies in the implementation of interval training in the elementary school physical education curriculum, using a controlled experimental methodology. Although interval training improved sprint performance within the experimental group, it did not produce significantly greater improvements compared to traditional physical education methods

Abstract

This study investigates the role of traditional games in strengthening sportsmanship and cooperative behavior in elementary school physical education. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved one physical education teacher and 20 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on how social values are naturally developed through students’ interactions during game-based learning activities. The findings reveal that students developed fair play attitudes, rule compliance, emotional control, communication skills, responsibility, and collaborative problem-solving abilities during learning activities. However, several challenges were still identified, including passive participation and inconsistent social behavior among some students. The findings indicate that sportsmanship and cooperation develop simultaneously through social interaction during traditional games. Therefore, traditional games can serve as an effective and contextual approach for fostering students’ social and emotional development in physical education.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of agility training on underhand passing performance among junior high school volleyball athletes at the GIT Club and to identify the magnitude of its effect. This study employed a quantitative experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 junior high school volleyball athletes selected through purposive sampling. The agility training program was conducted for 6 weeks with a frequency of 3 sessions per week, including shuttle runs, zig-zag runs, ladder drills, and cone drills. Data were collected using an underhand passing skill test administered before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R-square) with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results showed a significant effect of agility training on underhand passing performance, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The mean pretest score increased from 62.45 to 81.30 in the posttest, with a mean difference of 18.85. The paired sample t-test revealed a t-value of 8.742, indicating a statistically significant improvement after the training program. Furthermore, the R-square value showed that agility training contributed 70.7% to the improvement in underhand passing performance. These findings indicate that agility training is an effective method for improving underhand passing skills in junior high school volleyball athletes.

Abstract

The use of permanent sterilization contraception, such as vasectomy and tubectomy, remains a sensitive issue among Indonesian Muslims, particularly in Sumedang Regency. This study aims to explore the views of Islamic scholars (ulama) and health workers on the practice of permanent sterilization without medical indications. This study used a qualitative case study approach with semi-structured interviews with five informants: two ulama, two health workers, and one community leader who was also a sterilization patient. The results indicate that Islamic scholars reject permanent sterilization without medical reasons because they are considered contrary to the principles of the maqasid sharia, specifically preserving offspring (hifz al-nasl). In contrast, health workers accept the procedure if accompanied by medical indications and the consent of the partner. These differing views reflect differing perspectives on sterilization, family planning, and couple readiness. This study used an educational approach and interdisciplinary dialogue between religious leaders and health workers to bridge the gap. Practical implications: education that combines sharia values with reproductive health information is crucial to help communities make informed, rational contraceptive decisions that align with local spiritual and cultural values.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of educational games on improving social attitudes of elementary school students. The method used was a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental pretest-posttest design, and the sampling technique employed was purposive sampling with criteria of upper-grade students. The treatment was carried out through various educational games, such as jumping game, numeric, quiz, puzzle arrangement, cup pyramid, coordination bridge, roll the ball, and stacko uno. The results showed that the pretest and posttest data were not normally distributed; therefore, further analysis was conducted using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The findings indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, which reflects an improvement in students' social attitudes after the treatment. In conclusion, educational games have a significant effect on improving the social attitudes of elementary school students.   Keywords: Educational Games, Social Attitudes, Educational Game Skills

Abstract

This study investigates the interaction between the Hajj pilgrimage, the title "Haji/Hajjah," and spiritual morals in the religious journey of Muslims in Sumedang Regency. This research seeks to answer three main research questions: (1) How is the title of Hajj socially constructed within Sumedang society? (2) How does the Hajj pilgrimage influence an individual's behavior and beliefs? and (3) What role does Islamic religious education play in aligning religious titles with daily morality? The study is based on the fact that the term "Hajj" is often used as a symbol of social status, despite the essence of Hajj being the transformation and internalization of Islamic values. The phenomenological method was employed through in-depth interviews with scholars, pilgrims, and community members, supplemented by participatory observation and documentation research. Data were analyzed through phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, and synthesis of meaning. The study shows that although performing the Hajj can improve the quality of worship, sincerity, and social concern, the title of Hajj is often "commodified" as a social status without accompanying significant moral change. Instead, an individual's behavior is more highly valued by society today than a formal title. Based on the study's results, the religious education curriculum should be strengthened by emphasizing sincerity, simplicity, and the internalization of noble morals so that religious titles truly reflect a genuine spiritual journey.
