Abstract

The study’s purpose, participants, and main findings; however, the implications of the research are not clearly articulated. Although the text briefly states that instructors should understand students’ affective components and identify strategies to address challenges, this statement remains too general. The authors should explicitly explain how the findings can inform instructional practices in English-speaking programs for example, by guiding teachers in designing affective-based interventions, adapting classroom activities to reduce anxiety, enhancing support for low-confidence learners, or creating more student-centered speaking environments. Clarifying these implications will strengthen the abstract by demonstrating the practical relevance of the study and highlighting its contribution to teaching and learning in English Village contexts.

Abstract

Rice prices play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economic stability and public welfare, as rice remains the country’s primary staple food commodity. Price fluctuations are influenced by various internal factors, such as production and stock levels, as well as external factors like exchange rates and import volume. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting rice prices in Indonesia during the period of January to November 2024. The data used are monthly time-series secondary data obtained from the Badan Pangan Nasional, Badan Pusat Statistik, and Bank Indonesia. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression with six independent variables: production volume, demand, import volume, exchange rate, 2023 rice price, and national rice stock, and one dependent variable, the 2024 rice price. The results show that all independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on rice prices, with an F-value of 9.042 and a significance level of 0.026 (<0.05). Partially, production volume and national rice stock have a significant influence on rice prices, while other variables show no significant effect. The adjusted R² value of 0.842 indicates that 84.2% of the variation in rice prices is explained by the model, with the remainder influenced by external factors. These findings confirm that domestic factors, particularly production and national rice stock, are the main determinants of rice price stability in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study offers a comprehensive examination of the macroeconomic factors influencing domestic gold prices in Indonesia, emphasizing the mediating role of Rupiah exchange rate depreciation. Utilizing 70 monthly observations from January 2020 to October 2025, a timeframe marked by the COVID-19 pandemic's disruptions, supply chain challenges, and global monetary shifts, the research draws on economic principles such as the quantity theory of money and the monetary trilemma to test seven hypotheses on direct and indirect effects. Empirical results confirm strong long-run cointegration among the variables, but reveal weak short-run transmission from inflation and the BI Rate to exchange rate movements. Exchange rate depreciation emerges as a borderline statistically significant driver of gold prices, while inflation and the BI Rate are not statistically significant predictors. This pattern indicates that the limited explanatory power of inflation and the BI Rate reflects the dominance of external shocks, such as global capital flows and international monetary tightening, rather than a weakness of the empirical model itself. These findings indicate that currency dynamics, rather than domestic macroeconomic fundamentals alone, constitute the dominant transmission channel for gold price movements in Indonesia, highlighting the fragility of standard macro-financial relationships in an emerging-market context

Abstract

This study addresses the urgent need for digital inclusivity by developing a high-precision, real-time recognition system for Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia (BISINDO). The main new idea in this study is the creation of the Telkom University Database (TUD)-BISINDO, which is a strong and varied collection of data designed to fix the problems of current sign language databases, like not having enough different environments and camera angles. The TUD-BISINDO was created using 1,040 original images and added 780 more images to fix problems like differences in lighting, angles, and hand features that were often found in earlier datasets. The YOLOv8l model, improved with the AdamW optimizer and a flexible learning rate, performed exceptionally well with a mAP50 of 99.30% mAP50-95 of 85.40%, 99.80% precision, and 99.70% recall. These results demonstrate that the model significantly outperforms the previous YOLOv5 baseline across all primary metrics. The model has outstanding precision in recognizing real-time finger movements. However, complicated gestures, including the G and Z letters, require additional improvement. This research enhances sign language recognition technology, encouraging inclusion and improving accessibility for real-time communication. Future studies should focus on diversifying the dataset and maximizing performance in challenging conditions.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of solar energy as a heat source in the roasting process of coffee beans using a Parabolic Dish Collector (PDC), and analyzes the effect of Fresnel glass integration on improving the thermal performance of the system. Field test data collection is carried out repeatedly on two system configurations, namely PDC without and with Fresnel glass. The results showed that in the configuration without Fresnel glass, the temperature of the coffee beans only reached about 200 – 210 °C in the 15th minute, because the heating took place indirectly through the walls of the heating tube. Conversely, with the addition of Fresnel glass, the temperature of the coffee beans reaches the roasting threshold (~200 °C) faster, namely in the 9th to 10th minute, and increases to 241 – 249 °C in the 12th minute. This shows an acceleration of heating time of about 5 – 6 minutes at the same relatively same intensity of the sun. In addition, the average thermal efficiency of the system increased from 8.36% to 10.60%, or an increase of about 26.9%. This finding proves that the integration of Fresnel glass in PDC is able to accelerate the heating process, increase the working temperature, and improve heat absorption efficiency, so that this technology has the potential to be applied to small-scale coffee roasting processes based on solar energy.

Abstract

Heart disease is one of leading causes of death globally, making early detection essential for improving clinical outcomes. This study presents a heart disease prediction approach using the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm, addressing class imbalance with Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) and enhancing feature selection through Ant Colony Optimization (ACO). Exploratory data analysis identified age, gender, cholesterol, blood pressure, e xercise-Induced Angina (EIA), ST-segment depression, number of affected vessels, and thalassemia status as key indicators of disease severity. KNN model achieved 0.90 accuracy with balanced precision and recall. The employment of SMOTE improved sensitivity for the minority class, slightly reducing overall accuracy to 0.88. However, ACO as hyperparameter tuning KNN able to produce promising accuracy 0.91. This result indicate that combining KNN with metaheuristic optimization provides a reliable, interpretable method for heart disease prediction, offering valuable support for clinical decision-making and risk assessment.
