Abstract

BackgroundCervical carcinoma is one of the most common cancers in women, according to data from World Health Organization (WHO).Cervical carcinoma ranks the fourth most deadly type of cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common type of this cervicalcancer and it is generally caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types 16 and 18. Tumor-Associated Neutrophil (TAN) are foundin various types of cancer, the density of TAN can determine the prognostic type of tumor or cancer in each individual. This studywas aimed to identify correlation between clinicopathological characteristics of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and TAN incervical SCC patients registered at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.MethodsThis type of research is analytic with a cross-sectional method. Data collection in this study used a 37 slides archive which werediagnosed as cervical squamous cell carcinoma in Anatomic Pathology in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the periodof 2017-2019.ResultsFrom 37 cervical SCC patients, the clinicopathological characteristics of the majority of cervical SCC patients occurred in the agegroup of 51 year-old (51.4%), with histopathological type of non-keratinizing SCC (75,7%) and the most frequent differentiationdegree was moderately differentiated (75,7%). The TAN density was mostly found at low TAN densities (73%). There wassignificant correlation between age and TAN density (p=0.035) and there was no significant correlation between age and TANdensity (p=0.269).ConclusionIt was explained that the higher the degree of differentiation, the lower the density value, however the neutrophils in this studycannot be ascertained whether the neutrophils of anti-tumor (N1) or pro-tumor (N2) characteristic

Abstract

Background Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is a protease that plays an important role in various biological processes of breast cancer. This marker may be useful in determining the prognosis and become a promising therapy, especially in breast carcinoma with an aggressive subtype including HER2 enriched and triple negative. Both subtypes have high MMP-9 expression, but it is necessary to differentiate them because they have different biological and molecular aspects. This study aims to compare the density of MMP-9 between triple negative and HER2 enriched breast carcinoma subtypes and their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics. Methods This is a cross sectional study using 32 samples of paraffin blocks and slides of breast carcinoma patients with triple negative and HER2 Enriched subtypes at the Department of Anatomical Pathology Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University/Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang for the period January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019. Each sample was stained with MMP-9 antibodies immunohistochemistry (polyclonal, Abcam). Comparative analysis of MMP-9 density between the two subtypes was carried out using the median value based on the Mann-Whitney analysis. MMP-9 density was categorized as high and low based on the ROC curve and analyzed by using chi-square test to assess its association with clinicopathological characteristics. Results Mann-Whitney test showed that the MMP-9 density was higher in the HER2 enriched subtype (median 12.0) than triple negative (median 8.8) with a p value of 0.632. The relationship distribution of high MMP-9 density was found in the category of age group >40 years old (60.0%), positive lymphovascular invasion (86.7%) and histological grade III (80.0%) with p values of 0.798, 0.402 and 0.691. Conclusion MMP-9 density in HER2 enriched subtype was higher than triple negative subtype, but statistically not significant.

Abstract

The Boka tradition in Butonese marriages reflects a social and cultural reality that remains deeply rooted in society, despite shifting values due to modernization. In the Butonese context, Boka is a gift from the groom to the bride before marriage, which is legally equivalent to the concept of dowry as regulated in Law Number 1 of 1974 in conjunction with Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage. This study aims to determine and explain the procedure for determining Boka in the customary law system and the Islamic legal perspective on Boka in Butonese marriages. This study uses a normative legal research method with a statutory and conceptual approach. The legal materials used include primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, obtained through literature studies and relevant symposiums. The results show that the Boka determination procedure begins with the pabita stage (initial proposal), continues with family deliberation, and ends with the handover of Boka before the marriage ceremony. The value of Boka varies based on social stratification (kaomu, walaka, papara), but still upholds the principle of deliberation. From an Islamic legal perspective, the Boka tradition is acceptable as long as it is implemented with the principles of justice, simplicity, and willingness, in line with the purpose of the dowry in Islam as a form of appreciation, not a burden.

Abstract

City dynamics must be seen as a complex system with varying degrees of non-linear interaction of space and time. Cities are not constantly growing. At some point it will shrink and may die. Many factors cause such as globalization, suburbanization, post-socialism, and changes in demographic structure and so on. In many studies, the shrinking city phenomenon is mostly carried out in developed countries. However, developing countries are not impossible to experience this phenomenon. Each city experiencing the shrinking city phenomenon has different characteristics. In developing countries, local government policies that depend on various aspects of central government policies have a level of vulnerability to shrinking city phenomenon. Changes in central government policy on the smal city have an impact on changes in the economic structure of the city. Moreover, limited resources and the absence of small city innovation make it increasingly difficult for cities to grow.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in education has posed unique challenges and opportunities for Islamic education, particularly in meeting the learning needs of the millennial generation. This study investigates the influence of curriculum innovation, lecturer interaction quality, and digital learning styles on the effectiveness of Islamic education among millennials in higher education institutions. Utilizing a quantitative, causal-associative approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires from students and lecturers. The analysis used Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) via SmartPLS 4.0. The results revealed that curriculum innovation and lecturer interaction have a strong, positive, and significant effect on educational effectiveness, while digital learning demonstrates a weaker but statistically significant effect. The study also confirms that millennial characteristics moderate these relationships, particularly enhancing the effects of curriculum innovation and digital learning. These findings suggest that to improve the effectiveness of Islamic education in the digital era; institutions should prioritize integrated strategies that combine innovative curriculum design, interactive pedagogical methods, and digitally adaptive learning environments aligned with generational learning preferences. This research contributes to the literature by offering a holistic and empirical framework that links educational Innovation with generational dynamics in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

BackgroundTriple negative and positive HER 2 subtype breast carcinoma are aggressive subtype that have worst prognosis among othersubtype. High level of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) is associated with longer disease free survival and overall survival.Breast cancer is also influenced by the presence of ligation between PD-1 and PD-L1, expressed by activated CD8+ T cells andtumor cells, consecutively. To analysed the comparison of PD-L1 expression levels in triple negative breast cancer and HER2enriched subtype.MethodsA cross sectional study was conducted with 35 samples, which were immunostained with an anti-PD-L1 antibody. TILs weremeasured on HE slides, and together with PD-L1 expression were calculated using image J. Clinicopathological data were obtainedfrom medical record. All data were analysed by SPSS V25.0ResultsA significant difference was observed between PD-L1 expression in HER2 enriched and triple negative samples, where the HER2enriched subtype had a possibility to express PD-L1 3.3 times higher than those of triple negative (p = 0.021; OR = 3.3). There wereno significant differences in clinopathological characteristics or TILs density in both subtypes. Likewise, no significant differenceswas found among PD-L1 expression, and intratumoral and stromal TILs expression.ConclusionMajority patient of both subtypes are mostly older than 40 years old, with positive LVI and higher histological grading. The HER2expression showed a higher level of PD-L1 than triple negative. There was no significant difference of TILs expression betweenthese two subtypes of breast cancer.
