Abstract

The rapo-rapoang tradition is a series of pre-wedding processions for the Bugis people of South Konawe. This tradition becomes a medium for spiritual communication between understanding customs and Islamic law in formulating the goals of marriage, so this issue needs special attention in the study of maqāṣid al-sharī’ah. This research aims to reveal the practice of spiritual communication through the South Konawe Bugis wedding rapo-rapoang tradition from a maqāṣid al-sharī’ah perspective. This research is qualitative research with an empirical-normative approach which includes the results of observations and interviews with religious leaders, traditional leaders and community leaders and includes a literature review that is in synergy with this research. The results of the research show that the rapo-rapoang tradition is practiced through four stages, namely mental, physical and spiritual preparation, religious and traditional education, family deliberation and congratulatory prayer. Spiritual communication in the rapo-rapoang tradition is an effort to integrate previous community understanding (pappaseng to riolo) with the concept of Islamic teachings and convey it to prospective brides and grooms. The rapo-rapong tradition in practice is in line with the provisions of Islamic law. In fact, if this tradition is analyzed from a maqāṣid al-sharī’ah perspective, it is found to be a form of support for achieving the goals of Islamic marriage. Therefore, ijtihad regarding the concept of achieving the goals of Islamic marriage through certain traditions implemented by Muslim communities throughout the world needs attention, in order to preserve culture and traditions within the circle of Islamic sharia.

Abstract

The doda-idi tradition is a local Acehnese practice where mothers lull their children in a swing while humming poems filled with prayers, praise, and hopes for their future. Once an essential part of early childhood socialization and character building within Acehnese families, this tradition is now fading. The doda-idi tradition played a crucial role in embedding values and fostering emotional bonds between mother and child. However, it has become increasingly rare among Acehnese families. This article examines the current state of the doda-idi tradition and identifies the factors contributing to its decline. The study employs a qualitative socio-historical approach, utilizing literature reviews, in-depth interviews with mothers, community leaders, and traditional leaders; and field observations to explore the changes in early childhood socialization in Acehnese society. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's analytical techniques, namely, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal two primary factors behind the tradition's decline: modernization and technological advances. Modernization has provided greater educational and employment opportunities for both men and women, leading to increased population mobility. As a result, many women lack exposure to the cultural transmission of doda-idi, which is not taught formally or informally outside family environments. Simultaneously, technological innovations have introduced devices such as electronic swings, tape recorders, and MP3 players, which replace the mother's role in singing doda-idi. The loss of this tradition signifies not only the fading of a cultural practice but also the diminishing of an intimate and significant aspect of early childhood socialization in Acehnese society. Addressing this decline requires efforts to preserve and revive the tradition within the community.

Abstract

The increase in demand for goods made from wood cannot be limited, especially the demand for table furniture, cupboards and so on. Along with development, teak wood production has shifted to superior types of teak wood because the growth period is faster, but this condition means that the quality of teak wood is not like the old type of teak wood. Difficulty in seeing the quality of wood is a problem faced by craftsmen and furniture makers. The aim of this research is to determine the quality of wood species which are divided into 3 class categories, namely class A, class B and class C. To produce a classification of wood quality, researchers use the KNN method by carrying out HSV color segmentation then analyzing the color value of each image pixel based on the tolerance value on HSV color dimensions. The results of this research were using 65 teak wood training data for each class. Testing was carried out using 27 teak wood test data with an accuracy level of 85.19%, precision reaching 85.46%, recall reaching 85.18% and F1 score reaching 85.3%.
