Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the interest of high school and vocational school (SMA/SMK) students in pursuing further studies and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Students’ lack of interest is often influenced by limited understanding of STEM’s role in daily life and insufficient information regarding study and career prospects. To address this, the team designed a participatory training program involving students from partner schools. The methods included interactive sessions, group discussions, project-based practices, and presentations on study and career opportunities. The results indicated improved student understanding of STEM concepts, increased motivation to explore the field, and stronger interest in considering STEM for future studies and careers. Teachers also gained new insights into STEM-based learning strategies applicable in classrooms. Thus, this training not only strengthened STEM literacy but also supported the development of education aligned with 21st-century demands.

Abstract

Abstract

The production of shallot varieties is influenced by the adequacy of nutrients and soil conditions. Soil that has low nutrient content requires high nutrient input. Ultisol soil is one of the marginal soils, this soil requires additional nutrients from the right type of manure to increase crop yields. The study aims to determine the type of manure that can increase the yield of Lokananta shallots on ultisol soil. The research location is in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The research period is from October 2024 to April 2025. The eksperiment used a Randomized Block Design, consisting of 4 groups based on the size of the bulbs used as seeds. The treatments were 5 types of manure (chicken, cow, goat, swallow, and bat) and control (without additional fertilizer). The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of shoots, stem diameter, bulb diameter, wet weight of bulbs, dry weight of bulbs, and yield per plot. The harvested bulbs were analyzed for water content, reducing sugar, and essential oils (VOC). The results of the study showed that the best type of manure is that derived from chicken manure. Chicken manure has been proven to be able to increase the number of leaves, number of shoots, and number of plant bulbs, tends to be higher in yield of bulbs per plant. Red onion bulbs have the highest reducing sugar content in the chicken manure treatment, while the lowest water content is found in bat manure.

Abstract

Aging is commonly perceived as a phase of decline characterized by physical deterioration and age-related stigma, which increases psychosocial vulnerability among older adults. This study aimed to explore the meaning of aging among older adults in Kampung Naga by examining the role of local wisdom in shaping physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving four participants, including early elderly, late elderly, the oldest-old, and a cultural leader. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed four interconnected themes: physical–ecological harmony, emotional–spiritual harmony, social–communal harmony, and cultural harmony as the foundation of aging meaning. Older adults in Kampung Naga perceive aging as a natural, dignified, and meaningful life process characterized by acceptance, interconnectedness, and social respect. Cultural values such as hirup sauyunan, silih asih–silih asah–silih asuh, and narima strengthen psychological resilience and sustain social participation. Minimal ageism and strong communal support contribute to a positive aging experience. These findings highlight the significant role of local wisdom in fostering healthy and meaningful aging within Indigenous communities.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed people's consumption patterns, especially among Generation Z who were born and raised in the digital era. E-commerce is one of the fastest growing sectors, with Shopee being one of the most popular platforms in Indonesia. However, there is still a gap in understanding how attitude towards the platform and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) affect Generation Z's purchase intention. This study aims to analyze the influence of attitude towards the Shopee platform and e-WOM on Generation Z's purchase intention. The method used in this research is a survey by distributing questionnaires to 80 respondents who are active Shopee users. The data collected was analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the relationship between variables. The results showed that a positive attitude towards the Shopee platform had a significant effect on purchase intention, with a T-statistic value of 3,764 and a P-value of 0.000. In addition, e-WOM also has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention, with a T-statistic of 2.497 and a P-value of 0.013. Simultaneously, these two variables explain 27.3% of the variation in Generation Z's purchase intention. These findings provide important implications for Shopee managers to continuously improve user experience and utilize e-WOM as a marketing strategy.
