Abstract

Early detection of brain tumors through medical imaging is crucial to improving treatment success rates. This study aims to classify brain tumors using two deep learning models, AlexNet and GoogleNet, by testing three image sizes. The dataset used consists of four classes: glioma, no tumor, meningioma, and pituitary. The test results show that the AlexNet model achieves the best accuracy of 98% at a resolution of 150x150, while GoogleNet shows stable performance with the highest accuracy of 96% at both 150x150 and 200x200 resolutions. The medium resolution (150x150) proves to be optimal for both models, providing the best balance between visual information and processing efficiency. This study highlights the potential use of AlexNet and GoogleNet in brain tumor classification, with opportunities for performance improvement through further development, such as ensemble techniques and the use of a larger dataset.

Abstract

In the Indonesian context, the discourse regarding the relationship between religion and state is always coloured by the struggle between groups that wants to implement Shari'ah (Islamic Law) as the state ideology on the one hand, and nationalist groups that resist it on the other. The appearance from time to time of Islamic groups in Indonesia that want to implement Shari'ah as the state ideology is understandable given that the majority of the community are Muslims. The deliberation on the form and instituation around Shari'ah in Indonesia is generally set in the context of the choosing the best system of governance.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v8i3.683

Abstract

Abundant natural resources cannot be utilized properly for the needs of the surrounding community, so learning efforts are needed to manage the potential of natural resources owned through empowering the community. The purpose of this research is to find out how Jim Ife's theory of community empowerment is applied to community empowerment programs through farmer groups. This study used a qualitative case study approach with the research subject being the head of the Farmers' Group, members of the Farmers' Group and Agricultural Extension Officers of the Farmer's Group. Data collection was carried out by interview and observation techniques. The results showed that the process of community empowerment through the Farmer Group program can be said to be quite good in terms of applying the community empowerment perspective according to Jim Ife, in the Tnao Mat farmer group there is a community empowerment program, namely meetings between field agricultural extension workers and members of farmer groups, where there is counseling, socialization and training on agriculture that helps farming communities manage their natural resources. The end result of the empowerment program is that members of farmer groups are able to independently improve their quality of life and no longer depend on community empowerment program activities being held, especially helping them find solutions/problem solving to the social problems they face.

Abstract

Traditional herbal medicinal plants are natural ingredients that come from plants and have been used for generations for medicinal purposes. This study aims to analyze the utilization of plants as traditional medicinal materials by the community in the Kerandangan Nature Park, West Lombok. Using a descriptive qualitative method through observation and interviews, it seeks to obtain in-depth information about the community's behavior in utilizing plants as medicine and employs the Shannon-Wiener diversity index to analyze the species diversity of medicinal plants. The study found 20 plant species from various families such as Zingiberaceae, Piperaceae, Rutaceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Poaceae, Verbenaceae, Rubiaceae, Myrtaceae, and Caricaceae being used by the community to treat various diseases. The diversity level of medicinal plant species was categorized as moderate. The commonly used parts of the plants include leaves, rhizomes, fruits, stems, flowers, and roots. This indicates that the community of Dusun Kerandangan still utilizes medicinal plants to cure various ailments that have been traditionally used for generations, despite the ongoing development of modern medicine.

Abstract

Mangroves are a community or individual plants that live with special adaptations and form vegetation structures at the tide lines. This research aims to analyze the composition and structure of natural mangrove vegetation in the Bagek Kembar mangrove forest, Sekotong, West Lombok. Data collection used line transect and quadratic methods. The structure and composition of mangrove forest vegetation were analyzed based on density, frequency, dominance, importance value index, Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), species richness index (R), and evenness index (S). The research results show that the structure and composition of the natural Bagek Kembar mangrove consists of 10 species and 4 families. The highest importance index value was obtained for the Avicennia marina species with a value of 151.52 for the tree category, 172.16 for the sapling category, and 99.59 for the seedling category. The mangrove diversity index at all growth levels is included in the medium category. The species richness index at the tree growth and sampling levels is in the medium category, but at the seedling growth level it is in the low category. The evenness index at all growth levels is in the fairly even category. Furthermore, the highest density at all growth levels was obtained from the seedling level, followed by saplings and trees. The diameter class density shows an inverted “J” curve which indicates that the forest is in natural condition. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the structure and composition of mangroves in the Bagek Kembar natural forest has a fairly stable ecosystem condition. Conservation efforts need to be increased to improve environmental sustainability.
