Abstract

Youngsters who have difficulties pronouncing words also have difficulties comprehending and manipulating word sounds. Even if kids grow better at speaking as they age, this may still have an impact on how effectively they learn to read. The present study employs library research or literature review, a method that entails the collection of data and information from a variety of library resources, including reference books, prior research findings, articles, notes, and pertinent journals pertaining to the subject under investigation. To find out more about this, researchers consult earlier research and library books. Phonological awareness is the ability to recognize, manipulate, and break down sounds in words. Even before they can read, children need to have this talent. There are several methods to test it, including examining word constituents, like by looking at parts of words, such as the beginning sound and the rest of the word.

Abstract

Learning English is intended to facilitate communication between individuals and nations. Proficient use of English enables people to effectively express their ideas, emotions, and thoughts. However, students often struggle with English due to a lack of confidence in using the language in conversational contexts. Utilizing a conversation-based learning model can boost students' confidence in communication, especially when supported by digital modules. This method was tested with a sample of vocational high school (SMA) students. The research involved creating digital teaching materials using the Sigil application, which can be accessed on computers, tablets, and smartphones, and compiling various resources for self-study to enhance conversational skills. The study found that learning through the conversation model resulted in an 81.8% success rate across seven evaluation components.

The purpose of this research is to understand how to increase the understanding of how to read English for students of the second semester of the Islamic Education Management study program, so that they can read comfortably, understand the meaning of each word, sentence and paragraph without looking at the dictionary when reading. carried out using qualitative methods starting from direct observation to the MPI 2 student class, interviews were also carried out with several students, and finally we took documentation during the interview process, so that we received the correct results. The achievements of this research show that students' English reading comprehension has improved significantly from the previous semester, students have also understood the meaning of English reading texts by just listening to them. The method they use to improve their understanding is by continuing to read English regularly, and memorizing lists of words. Abstract

In pronouncing words correctly, people should consider the sound system inherent in a particular language. Studying pronunciation is essential for enhancing students' language abilities in English. It holds a significant position in English instruction. According to Candlin and Chrichton, pronunciation is not only necessary for speaking but also for effective communication and conveying meaning in a clear and comprehensible manner. In other words, when a speaker communicates a message, it should be received by the listener with clarity and understanding. However, there are instances where the listener may not comprehend or appear perplexed by what the speaker has said. The research encompasses the researcher's strategy for data collection and analysis. According to research design refers to the researcher's plan for proceeding within the specific context of the study. In this research, a descriptive study with a qualitative approach was employed. Qualitative research aims to describe phenomena using words as the primary means of analysis. as for the conclusion of the discussion These minimal pairs are important for illustrating the distinct vowel phonemes in the English language and their role in conveying meaning. and help explain sound variations, sound changes, and sound distribution patterns in the language. By studying phonological rules, we can understand the principles underlying the sound system of language and how it sounds-these sounds interact in different linguistic contexts.

Abstract

The abstract in the English version must be written with fulfill the rules of good English writing for abstracts in scientific papers. The sentences in the abstract must be written in sentence type (tenses) are appropriate .Therefore, the researcher uses Report Text material specifically about student experiences, so there are four students who will be observed by the researcher. The research method used is a descriptive method or what is usually called a qualitative method. And qualitative data will be conveyed by observing students' handwriting. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there are two types of tenses used in writing abstracts in English; simple present tense for writing "background" and "conclusion", and simple past tense for "goals", "methods", and "results". To minimize errors in using tenses, it would be better if each journal attached a file about the use of tenses in each abstract component.

Abstract

Accents and dialects are important aspects of linguistic studies that reflect the diversity of languages around the world. Accent refers to the distinctive way a person or group pronounces words, which can be influenced by geographical, social and cultural factors. For example, the Southern American English accent has distinctive features in its pronunciation and intonation that set it apart from other accents in the United States. Dialects, on the other hand, encompass a wider variety of language, including different vocabulary, syntax, and grammatical conventions. Understanding accents and dialects is important because it facilitates better communication between native and non-native speakers of a language. It also helps us appreciate the cultural richness contained in the language, as well as understand the identity and social affiliation expressed through the way a person speaks. In this era of globalization, a better understanding of accents and dialects also supports deeper cultural integration in international communication and cooperation across countries. As such, the study of accent and dialect involves not only linguistic analysis but also an exploration of the cultural and social role of language in society. This provides a deep insight into the complexity of human communication and relationships around the world.
