Abstract

Horticultural commodity crops can be prioritized, apart from industrial needs, they can also be utilized by the community because they play a role in facilitating nutritional needs which include fiber, vitamins and protein. The biochemical composition contained in horticultural commodity plants are substances that are essential for the human body. Priorities for horticultural commodity crops to be cultivated by farmers include high economic value, high market opportunities, and high income benefits. Strawberry is a horticultural commodity crop that has quite high economic value. Controlling diseases that have the potential to attack plants is one of the main priorities for plant breeders because until now farmers still control them by using chemicals that are less economical, very excessive, not well maintained, pollute the environment as a negative effect, namely by using pesticides excessively. instant or chemical. The two types of fungal pathogens found in this research to attack strawberry plants include Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum acutatum. The solution to overcome the minimal use of synthetic and environmentally friendly pesticides is to use natural ingredients which can reduce the occurrence of quite high side effects in the long term. The natural material used in this research is kecombrang flowers extracted by 96% ethanol. The research carried out was laboratory experimental, namely by providing synthetic antibiotics as a positive control, CMC 1% as a negative control, ethanol extract of kecombrang flowers at 1%, 3% and 5%. The test method for testing this durability is disc diffusion. 96% ethanol extract at all concentrations correlated positively as an antifungal for horticultural commodity plant pathogens in strawberry species. A 5% concentration of 96% ethanol extract is the best treatment when compared to concentrations of 1% and 3%.

Abstract

One of the long-term losses in homeostatic balance in every living creature is a sign of aging skin. Hyperpigmentation conditions caused by the activity of the tyrosinase enzyme are an indicator of aging. One of the solutions that can be applied to prevent premature signs of aging is skin care using the most affordable pharmaceutical preparation, namely Hand Body Lotion. Hand Body Lotion which has anti-aging properties can be produced from bioactive compounds from horticultural commodity plants because it has been proven and is quite popular. Apart from being able to be used as an active ingredient in functional food, it can also be recommended as a pharmaceutical, namely the preparation of active cosmetic ingredients. This is because the content of vitamins, antioxidants, essential oils, proteins, even phenolic compounds and other active ingredients which are quite environmentally friendly can be produced from horticultural commodity plants, especially in the fruit group used in this research. Strawberry fruit has been reported to contain organic compounds such as gallic acid, elagic acid, and ferulic acid which can inhibit the melanogenesis process both in vitro and in vivo from previous findings. Papaya fruit contains saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins so it can be designed to inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme. This research aims to determine the inhibitory power of the tyrosinase enzyme from horticultural commodity plant extracts, both strawberries and papaya, in the form of formulations and hand body lotion preparations. The results of this research have proven that based on the IC50 value of horticultural commodity plant extracts, papaya has better inhibitory power for the tyrosinase enzyme compared to strawberries, namely 8,875 µg/mL. The conclusion in this research is that horticultural commodity plants in the form of papaya fruit extract are more recommended as an active ingredient in inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme when compared with strawberry fruit extract based on the IC50 value even though in the form of hand body lotion it has the potential to inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme.

Abstract

Antioksidan dari suatu produk hasil pertanian pada ekstrak beras merah dan hitam dapat digunakan sebagai produk bioteknologi yang ramah lingkungan bagi bidang pertanian, kebidanan, dan farmasi dalam upaya menangkal radikal bebas dan mencegah terjadinya keputihan oleh jamur Candida albicans. Radikal bebas pun disinyalir oleh adanya kerusakan pada jaringan bagi asam lemak, dan penghilang elastisitas pada kulit sebagai penyebab terjadinya penuaan. Hal tersebut menjadi kulit keriput dan kering. Kulit yang terserang radikal bebas pun berpotensi bagi kaum wanita yang mudah mengalami penuaan secara dini juga menyebabkan terjadinya keputihan, sehingga dibutuhkan perawatan oleh sediaan sabun mandi yang berbahan aktif ekstrak beras merah dan hitam. Penelitian sebelumnya telah menjelaskan bahwa ekstrak beras merah dan hitam mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti okoferol, tokotrienol, gamma oryzanol, antioksidan fenolik dan β-karoten yang berpotensi dalam menangkal radikal bebas dan antifungi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi dan sediaan body wash yang berbahan aktif ekstrak beras merah dan hitam sebagai sumber antioksidan dan antifungi Candida albicans. Metode pengujian antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan DPPH dan antifungi digunakan melalui difusi cakram. Hasil penelitian telah menunjukkan bahwa Formulasi dan sediaan body wash ekstrak beras merah dan hitam konsentrasi 40% merupakan perlakuan terbaik sebagai sumber antioksidan jika dibandingkan konsentrasi 20% dan 30% dimana nilai IC50 sebesar 36,78 ppm dengan kategori antioksidan sangat kuat. Hasil penelitian pada sediaan sabun mandi ekstrak beras merah dan hitam berdasarkan uji ANOVA satu jalur dengan nilai P>0,05 terbukti bahwa pada konsentrasi 40% berbeda nyata dengan konsentrasi 20% dan 30% sebagai antifungi Candida albicans dimana rata-rata diameter zona hambat sebesar 12,25 mm dengan kategori kuat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah formulasi dan sediaan body wash ekstrak beras merah dan hitam pada konsentrasi 40% merupakan perlakuan yang optimal sebagai sumber antioksidan maupun antifungi Candida albicans.

Abstract

This study aimed to isolate and characterize endophytic bacteria from black turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb) and test their potential as antibacterial agents against Streptococcus pneumoniae. This experimental research began with the isolation of endophytic bacteria from surface-sterilized black turmeric rhizomes. The obtained pure isolates were characterized macroscopically (colony shape, margin, elevation, pigment) and microscopically (cell shape, Gram staining). The growth curve of potential isolates was determined, and antibacterial activity was tested using the disc diffusion method against S. pneumoniae, with ciprofloxacin as a positive control. Six endophytic bacterial isolates (PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, PS6) were successfully isolated, showing variations in colony morphology, and all were classified as Gram-negative bacilli. All isolates exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Streptococus pneumoniae, with inhibition zone diameters ranging from 15.3 mm to 20.6 mm. Black turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb) harbor diverse endophytic bacteria with significant potential as antibacterial agents against the pneumonia pathogen, Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan wanita pekerja seksual (WPS) di Kota Serang mengenai manfaat kombucha bunga telang sebagai imunomodulator dan hepatoprotektor. Edukasi dilakukan melalui penyuluhan interaktif, demonstrasi pembuatan kombucha, serta evaluasi pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta mengenai kandungan bioaktif bunga telang, prinsip fermentasi kombucha, serta peran minuman fungsional terhadap peningkatan imunitas dan kesehatan hati. Peserta juga mampu melakukan praktik pembuatan kombucha secara higienis dan memahami aturan konsumsi aman berdasarkan literatur. Temuan ini sejalan dengan berbagai penelitian nasional dan internasional yang melaporkan aktivitas antioksidan, antiinflamasi, imunomodulator, dan hepatoprotektif dari kombucha maupun bunga telang. Program ini menegaskan bahwa intervensi edukatif-partisipatif efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi kesehatan dan mendorong perilaku hidup sehat pada kelompok rentan.

Abstract

Kombucha has an anticancer potency because it has dimethyl 2-(2-hydroxy-2-methoxypropilidine) malonate compound. The research aimed to verify the compound dimethyl 2-(2-hydroxy-2-methoxypropilidine) malonate as an anticancer with the in-silico method, namely the molecular docking approach, drug likeness profile, and ADMET test. The tools used were the PyRx, Discovery Studio Visualizer, Sanjeevini, and pkCSM. The research material consisted of 3D Dimethyl 2-(2-Hydroxy-2-Methoxypropilidine) Malonate and Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR). The analysis showed Dimethyl 2-(2-Hydroxy-2-Methoxypropilidine) Malonate is safe for consumption and can suppress cancer cells.

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented beverage produced by a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) and has gained increasing attention as a functional food due to its bioactive compounds. This literature review aims to evaluate the pharmacological activities of kombucha and its potential development as a functional food with economic value. A systematic literature review was conducted using reputable international databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. The findings indicate that kombucha consistently exhibits antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anticancer, and cosmetic-related bioactivities. These effects are influenced by substrate type, fermentation conditions, and microbial composition, which determine the production of organic acids, polyphenols, flavonoids, and postbiotic metabolites. Beyond its health benefits, kombucha contributes significantly to economic development through product diversification, utilization of local resources and agro-industrial by-products, and entrepreneurial opportunities for small and medium enterprises. Nevertheless, challenges related to quality standardization, food safety, and health claim regulations remain critical issues. Overall, kombucha demonstrates strong potential as a functional food and an economically valuable fermented biotechnology product.

Abstract

Kulit merupakan organ terluar tubuh yang berperan penting dalam menjaga kesehatan dan penampilan. Paparan sinar matahari, polusi, dan debu, dapat menurunkan kualitas kulit, sehingga diperlukan perawatan preventif yang aman, terutama pada remaja. Salah satu upaya perawatan adalah penggunaan lulur berbahan alami. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar, mengenai perawatan kulit yang sehat dan aman, melalui edukasi inovasi lulur herbal berbahan kopi (Coffea arabica L.) dan temu giring (Curcuma heyneana). Biji kopi diketahui mengandung senyawa antioksidan yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan kulit dan Temu Giring mengandung banyak bioaktivitas seperti antioksidan, antikanker dan antiinflamasi. Kebaruan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini terletak pada pemanfaatan inovasi lulur herbal berbahan kopi dan temu giring sebagai media edukasi kesehatan kulit bagi remaja SMA melalui pendekatan edukatif dan aplikatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi melalui penyuluhan interaktif, praktik pembuatan lulur, serta evaluasi menggunakan pre-test dan post-test berbentuk kuesioner. Media yang digunakan meliputi, presentasi PowerPoint, dan leaflet. Sampel pengabdian diambil secara sampling terhadap 40 siswa berasal dari siswa kelas X. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta, ditandai dengan kenaikan nilai post-test sebesar 94% dibandingkan nilai pre-test. Tingkat partisipasi peserta tergolong baik, dengan 60% aktif dalam diskusi dan 40% aktif mengajukan, serta menjawab pertanyaan. Kegiatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan partisipasi siswa SMA terkait perawatan kulit alami dan aman.

Abstract

Telang flower kombucha is a probiotic that has the potential to be developed as a functional drink and even an active cosmetic ingredient in the form of hand soap as an effort to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 and its mutations. The purpose of this activity is to provide additional insight to students, especially in the pharmaceutical study program at the Faculty of Health Pharmacy, Mathla'ul Anwar University, Banten, in utilizing the fermented kombucha solution of telang flower as an active ingredient in environmentally friendly hand soap cosmetics. The results of the activity showed that the service participants had increased knowledge or insight about the importance of using conventional biotechnology products as a new breakthrough in the pharmaceutical field. This can be seen from the increase in the pre-test and post-test which have been conveyed a lot during material exposure during pharmaceutical biotechnology lectures and during training. Participants who have attended training on making probiotic handwashing soap from fermented kombucha flower telang solution are more enthusiastic and understand the importance of the benefits of fermenting kombucha flower telang not only in the functional food sector but also in the potential for environmentally friendly cosmetics.
