Abstract

The food and pharmaceutical fields are two elements needed in everyday life to improve human health and well-being. This is because functional foods, medicines, and natural cosmetics have become an increasingly current trend to be applied both based on food biotechnology and pharmaceutical biotechnology. One of the food and pharmaceutical biotechnology products that can be effective as a source of antioxidants is the butterfly pea flower kombucha preparation. Butterfly pea flower kombucha preparations that are effective as a source of antioxidants certainly have a substrate formula that varies based on the results of their concoctions. The results of previous studies have proven that butterfly pea flower kombucha with a concentration of palm sugar and SR12 honey has activity as a source of antibacterial. Research to see the antioxidant activity that is formulated based on various formulations of palm sugar and SR12 honey substrates. The stages of this research include making butterfly pea flower kombucha with various concentrations of palm sugar and SR12 honey substrates and testing its antioxidant activity on each preparation formulated from the palm sugar and SR12 honey substrate formulation (20%, 30%, and 40%). One-way analysis of variance was applied, followed by post-hoc analysis. Based on the post-hoc analysis, the study showed that butterfly pea flower kombucha at a concentration of 40%, as well as the formula of palm sugar and SR12 honey, showed significant differences from the concentrations of 20% and 30% after testing one-way analysis of variance, with each P value <0.05. The conclusion is that the preparation of butterfly pea flower kombucha based on the use of palm sugar and SR12 honey substrates is efficacious as a source of antioxidants so that in the long term it can be used as a functional food ingredient or pharmaceutical.

Abstract

Tanaman kentang memiliki manfaat sebagai sumber karbohidrat, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai menu pengganti nasi. Gagalnya panen pada tanaman kentang disebabkan oleh faktor faktor biotik yang sangat potensial dalam menyerang tanaman kentang sehingga para petani sulit dalam memenuhi permintaan pasar dalam jangka waktu terkendali maupun tidak terkendali. Fungi patogen penyebab busuk pada tanaman kentang yaitu spesies Phytophthora infestans. Fungi patogen penyebab bercak cokelat pada tanaman kentang berupa Ralstonia solanacearum merupakan spesies fungi patogen penyebab layu pada daun tanaman kentang, sehingga dibutuhkan antibiotik secara natural dari kombucha bunga telang yang cukup ramah lingkungan dengan pertimbangan adanya penggunaan pestisida secara kimiawi cukup potensial dalam merusak lingkungan budidaya tanaman. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental laboratorium yaitu dengan cara membuat formulasi dan sediaan spray kombucha bunga telang pada konsentrasi 20%, 30%, dan 40%, menyediakan aquadest steril yang dirancang sebagai kontrol negatif, menyediakan antibiotik pasaran sebagai kontrol positif. Tahapan tahapan penelitian ini meliputi persiapan bunga telang, kultur awal kombucha, fermentasi kombucha bunga telang, menguji daya hambat pertumbuhan fungi patogen dari masing-masing formulasi dan sediaan spray kombucha bunga telang, dan analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini telah terbukti bahwa seluruh formulasi dan sediaan kombucha bunga telang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai antifungi bagi tanaman kentang yang cukup potensial dalam diserang fungi patogen, sehingga perlu diberikan edukasi bagi petani dalam pemanfaatan kombucha bunga telang untuk diperankan sebagai minuman probiotik peningkat sistem imun maupun sediaan spray natural yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Kombucha bunga telang gula tropicanaslim merupakan salah satu minuman fermentasi probiotik yang diproduksi melalui konsorsium bakteri dan ragi dengan substrat gula tropicanaslim. Bahan baku pembuatan kombucha dalam penelitian ini adalah berupa rebusan bunga telang dimana sampel yang digunakan adalah bunga telang yang berasal dari desa Pekuncen Cilegon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri kombucha bunga telang pada konsentrasi gula tropicanaslim yang berbeda-beda. Konsentrasi gula tropicanaslim yang digun akan dalam penelitian ini adalah 20%, 30%, dan 40% (b/v) yang masing-masing diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Kontrol positif yang digunakan berupa teh hitam, sedangkan kontrol negatif yang digunakan dalam bentuk akuades steril. Metode difusi sumuran merupakan salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam pengujian antibakteri untuk menghitung diameter zona hambat. Fermentasi kombucha bunga telang mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri dalam spektrum luas. Hal tersebut diindikasikan adanya potensi dalam mencegah pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, dan Escherichia coli. Kombucha bunga telang pada konsentrasi gula tropicanaslim sebesar 40% memiliki aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi, sehingga konsentrasi gula tropicanaslim tersebut berpotensi sebagai inovasi terkini pada produk bioteknologi fermentasi dalam menunjang aspek kesehatan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan sampo probiotik yang berbahan aktif lauutan fermentasi kombucha bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea L) sebagai produk bioteknologi farmasi yang berpotensi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan fungi penyebab ketombe. Mikroba penyebab ketombe yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini diantaranya adalah Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus, dan Pitosprorum ovale. Sediaan sampo dibuat dengan 4 perlakuan formula yaitu konsentrasi 0%, 20%, 30%, dan 40% serta sampo pasaran sebagai kontrol positif. Pengujian antifungi dilakukan dengan metode difusi cakram dari konsentrasi secara keseluruhan. Data hasil rata-rata diameter zona hambat dianalisis menggunakan statistik yaitu ANOVA satu jalur kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji post hoc. Hasil penelitian telah membuktikan bahwa sediaan sampo probiotik yang berbahan aktif larutan fermentasi kombucha bunga telang memiliki daya hambat terhadap ketiga pertumbuhan fungi. Konsentrasi 40% merupakan konsentrasi terbaik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan ketiga fungi, sehingga berpotensi sebagai produk bioteknologi farmasi khsusnya pada sediaan sampo probiotik.

Abstract

Transgenic plants are plants produced using modern biotechnology methods, namely genetic engineering. Talking about modern biotechnology which tends towards genetic engineering of plants, so far it uses living things that have the potential or contribution as GMOs. The services of living creatures used to produce plants in the aspect of genetic engineering are the species Agrobacterium agrobacterium which has been widely inserted to increase resistance to disease, produce active ingredients for functional food, medicine and natural cosmetics (pharmaceuticals). So that cultivating plants using the services of Agrobacterium agrobacterium provides a good and potential outlook for the future based on studies of transgenic plants, early studies of Agrobacterium, taxonomic challenges, a surge in basic research driven by applied studies, fundamental process models, and future prospects for genetic engineering modeling systems through the use of Agrobacterium. The long-term application of A. tumafaciens has promising future prospects, although it requires various cellular approach methods to make it safe and controllable as a plasmid vector.

Abstract

Horticultural commodity crops are commodities that have high selling value and have properties as functional food and pharmaceutical ingredients. So the majority of horticultural farmers often prioritize meeting market needs. Obstacles that occur in the field are decreasing quality and quantity due to pest and disease attacks as well as excessive use of chemical-based fertilizers. The aim that can be offered in this community service activity is to provide education about the potential of butterfly pea flower kombucha, apart from being used as a functional food, it can also be used as a natural antibiotic without other additives as an antifungal pathogen from horticultural commodity plants as well as providing education about the potential of butterfly pea flower kombucha as a raw material for organic liquid fertilizer to support the growth of horticultural commodity plants which has been proven by various research results. by providing an explanation of the basics of butterfly pea flower kombucha fermentation which is useful as a probiotic drink to enhance the immune system in general which has a high potential for being a functional food, pharmaceutical/medicinal or cosmetic, an ingredient in organic liquid fertilizer preparations, and a natural antibiotic for fungal pathogens of horticultural plants. Horticultural farmers from Pekuncen village learned about the potential of butterfly pea flower kombucha with a percentage of 100% after the presentation of the material.

Abstract

Hewan ternak yang cenderung mengandung lemak dan dikonsumsi secara tidak terkendali merupakan salah satu potensi untuk meningkatkan kolesterol. Salah satu upaya dalam mencegah terjadinya kolesterol dan menghasilkan hewan ternak dengan kandungan kolesterol rendah adalah dengan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal sebagai zat aktif dalam mengurangi resiko terjadinya kolesterol. Daun bayam merah merupakan salah satu tanaman komoditas hortikultura dari jenis sayur-sayuran yang dirancang dalam penelitian ini untuk memberikan skrining awal dalam mencegah kolesterol yang tinggi bagin hewan ternak secara in vitro baik dari diambil dari sampel budidaya tanaman secara konvensional maupun hidroponik. Hasil penelitian ini telah membuktikan bahwa berdasarkan nilai Effective Contentration (EC50) ekstrak etanol 96% dari daun bayam merah baik yang diperoleh dari hasil budidaya tanaman secara konvensional maupun hidroponik berpotensi dalam menurunkan kolesterol pada hewan ternak secara in vitro. Nilai EC50 yang dihasilkan dari ekstrak etanol 96% daun bayam merah adalah sebesar 60.28% dan 40.26% dari ekstrak etanol 96% daun bayam merah yang dibudidayakan dari metode hidroponik.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Salah satu minuman probiotik yang terbuat dari bunga kecombrang yang difermentasi bersama scoby (biang kombucha), dan substrat gula disebut kombucha teh bunga kecombrang. Peningkatan konsentrasi gula dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri dan jamur patogen. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombucha bunga kecombrang terhadap aktivitas pertumbuhan bakteri patogen gram positif dan gram negatif serta jamur patogen berdasarkan variasi konsentrasi gula. Perlakuan konsentrasi gula yang digunakan adalah 20%, 30%, dan 40%. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan metode difusi cakram dengan menggunakan bakteri uji Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus serta jamur uji Candida albicans untuk mengetahui diameter zona bening yang terbentuk berdasarkan  sifat anti mikroba kombucha. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi 40% merupakan konsentrasi gula pada fermentasi kombucha bunga kecombrang yang paling baik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, dan Candida albicans dengan diameter masing-masing 14 mm, 10,3 mm dan 12 mm. Setelah data digabungkan dengan zona hambat terhadap C. albicans, diperoleh hasil yang berbeda nyata pada konsentrasi gula 40% dengan p-value (0,000). Kesimpulan: Fermentasi kombucha teh bunga kecombrang mempunyai spektrum yang luas dan berpotensi sebagai minuman probiotik dalam meningkatkan imunitas dengan menghambat laju pertumbuhan bakteri patogen dan ragi.

Abstract

Tomatoes are one of the horticultural commodity crops that are easy to obtain and have various benefits such as being a functional food ingredient and an active ingredient in medicines and cosmetics. Tomatoes contain bioactive compounds, especially vitamin C, which plays an important role as a source of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and anticancer. The increasing productivity of tomato plants is one of the targets for every horticultural farmer to distribute to various industries, both food and pharmaceutical industries. Tomatoes, which are one of the horticultural commodity crops, are easily damaged, have a short shelf life, rot and also wilt easily, which can be caused by attacks by pathogenic fungi, namely Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani. The solution to overcome these two attacks by pathogenic fungi is to use herbal plant extracts which are quite environmentally friendly and have pharmacological activity in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic fungi, one of which is the ethanol extract of kecombrang flowers. This research aims to provide the latest scientific information regarding the potential of 96% ethanol extract from kecombrang flower plants with concentrations of 1%, 3% and 5% in inhibiting the growth of both pathogenic fungi. Tests for the inhibition of the growth of these two pathogenic fungi were carried out using the well method. The results of this research have proven that kecombrang flower plant extract has overall inhibitory power and a concentration of 5% is the optimal treatment in inhibiting the growth of both pathogenic fungi.

Abstract

Currently, horticultural commodity plants that have been recorded consist of around 800 genera and 25,000 species, according to research, with approximately 800 genera and 25,000 species being orchids. Horticultural commodity plants, such as orchids, are species with high economic value that functionally serve as cut flowers as well as potted plants. The production of orchid flowers designed as horticultural commodities for cut flowers has increased in Indonesia by 8.99% from 2014 to 2015. The demand for orchids, particularly for the flowers, when viewed from the perspective of growth between 2014 and 2015, requires the production of quality seedlings to meet various needs, whether as ornamental plants, herbal medicine, or cosmetics. One of the methods that is fast, efficient, nutritionally controlled, free from pests and diseases, and genetically produces uniform plants with their parent is plant tissue culture. The tissue culture technique for plants is one of the solutions in the field of biotechnology to enhance plant species with high economic value, as well as to save plant species that are already threatened with extinction. The current condition of discoveries for producing new secondary metabolite compounds requires new sources of medicine, which have mostly shifted to orchid plants. This is due to the fact that the use of orchids has been widely utilized as ethnomedicine (herbal medicine) that is natural in nature. The secondary metabolites found in orchids certainly have pharmacological activity, one of which is as a source of antioxidants, compounds that can neutralize free radicals. This research aims to test orchid plants as a source of antioxidants from three cultivation locations of orchid plants derived from tissue culture (in vitro), namely the horticultural commodity plant laboratory in Pasir Banteng, Jatinangor, the orchid tissue culture laboratory in Serang, and the biotechnology orchid tissue culture laboratory at IPB. The research was conducted using the DPPH antioxidant activity method. The results of this study have demonstrated that each 96% ethanol extract from the three tissue culture cultivation locations has the potential to counteract free radicals, and the conclusion of this research, based on the IC50 value of the 96% ethanol extract of moon orchids cultivated from the biotechnology tissue culture laboratory at IPB, shows the best antioxidant value.
