Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English language needs required by front office hotel staff in the tourist area of Mount Bromo, Probolinggo. The background of this research lies in the importance of English communication competence for hospitality workers in serving international tourists, particularly in major tourist destinations such as Bromo. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and questionnaires administered to hotel staff and front office managers. The findings indicate that the primary language needs include skills in greeting, reservation handling, check-in/out procedures, giving directions, and handling complaints within the context of hotel services. Furthermore, it was found that most staff has not received structured English training nor accessed context-relevant learning materials. These findings highlight the need for developing English training programs based on real workplace situations and integrating ESP (English for Specific Purposes) content into tourism training in the Probolinggo region. The results of this study can directly inform the development of targeted English training modules, support policy initiatives for workforce upskilling in the tourism sector, and guide the integration of ESP-based content into vocational curricula for hospitality education.

Abstract

This study investigates the interplay between language and gender on social media, focusing on user comments on TikTok. By employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the research aims to uncover how gender ideologies are constructed, reinforced, or challenged in digital discourse. A total of 500 comments were collected and analyzed qualitatively to identify dominant linguistic patterns and gendered discursive strategies. The findings reveal that while many users reproduce traditional gender norms—such as objectification of women and stereotyping of men—others engage in discursive resistance by promoting inclusivity and challenging dominant narratives. The study also highlights how humor, sarcasm, and multimodal expressions (emojis, non-standard spellings) play a central role in shaping and performing gender online. The research concludes that TikTok functions as a contested space where power, identity, and ideology intersect through language. These findings underscore the importance of analyzing everyday digital communication to better understand contemporary gender discourse.

Abstract

The Al-Qur'a n (living Qur'an) program in Ma'had IDIA became the master of Ma'hadi, which was maintained by the Master of IDIA son. Reading the Qur'a n by the Master of the program Plus TMI and Tahfidz is not correct in a certain letter, whereas in Ma'had IDIA son su>rah al-Rahma>n became the ruler of Ma'hadi. Implementation of the tradition of reading Su'rah al-Rahma'n in Ma'had IDIA son Prenduan is carried out every day after the prayer of the calf at exactly 11:30 WIB. The readings of Al-Rahma n are directed directly by Mu'allim, who is followed by the whole Mahasantri, and they begin by surrendering to the masjids before entering the readings of Al-Rahman, and by reciting the Su'rah al-Rahma with tartils together. The purpose and benefit of the tradition of reading Surah al-Rahma is to build a Mahasantri custom to read Su'rah al-Rahma after performing Dzuhur's prayer, enhance the work of Sha'lih and strive to thank God SWT. And hopefully God's SWT, gets the peace of mind as an emotional psychological cure for the Mahasantri.

Abstract

This research aimed to improved the students’ speaking skill in English lesson by using action learning strategy. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research was X grade of MAN 1 Padangsidimpuan which consisted of 48 students. The objective of this research was to improve students’ speaking skill in English Lesson by using Action Learning strategy at Eight Grade of MAN 1 Padangsidimpuan. This research was conducted in two cycles which each consists’ of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data were gathered through quantitative and qualitative data. The result of this reserach showed that there was increasing of students in speaking skill. The mean of pre-test was 59. The mean of post-test 1 was 75.04. the mean of post-test 2 was 82.11. It indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better than the first cycle. The percentage of students who got point >75 also grew up. In the pre-Test, the students who got point >75 up were 4 students (9.09%). In the post-test of cycle 1 students who got point >70 up were 30 students (68.18%). The post-test of cycle 2, students who got point >75 were 38 students (86.36%). In other words, the students’ ability in speaking improved and became well in the first meeting to the next meeting.

Abstract

Edukasi kesehatan yang disampaikan melalui media visual berbahasa lokal dapat menjadi metode yang efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien mengenai pengelolaan penyakit kronis seperti diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tingkat pengetahuan penderita diabetes melitus terhadap edukasi pola makan dan kontrol gula darah melalui video berbahasa Gorontalo di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 351 penderita diabetes melitus, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dan jumlah sampel sebanyak 78 responden. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar kuesioner yang terdiri dari sejumlah pertanyaan dan pernyataan terkait pengetahuan tentang pola makan dan kontrol gula darah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar penderita diabetes melitus di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kabila memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang baik mengenai pola makan dan kontrol gula darah setelah diberikan edukasi menggunakan video berbahasa Gorontalo. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media edukasi berbasis budaya lokal dapat mendukung peningkatan pemahaman pasien dalam pengelolaan penyakit. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi Puskesmas Kabila dalam mengembangkan strategi edukasi yang lebih tepat sasaran guna meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan kepada masyarakat.

Abstract

Esports, including its popularity in the PUBG Mobile game, has become a global phenomenon that not only affects individual players, but also their families and surrounding communities. . In Jembayan Village, where teenagers are the dominant group in exploring technology and digital entertainment, perception and interest in PUBG Mobile esports plays an important role in the dynamics of family welfare. This research aims to understand how parents' perceptions and teenagers' interest in PUBG Mobile esports affect the welfare of families in the village.  This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques with parents and teenagers in Jembayan Village. The results show that parents' perceptions of esports tend to vary from skeptical to accepting, depending on their understanding of the benefits and risks involved. On the other hand, teenagers' interest in esports, especially PUBG Mobile, often centers on the competitive and social aspects of the game, which they perceive as an interesting form of entertainment and an opportunity to improve their skills in coordination, strategy and teamwork. In conclusion, perception and interest in PUBG Mobile esports not only affects individual teenagers, but also family dynamics in Jembayan Village. With the right approach, esports can be a tool to improve family well-being by promoting positive engagement, open communication and the development of skills relevant to this digital age.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi semakin berkembang pesat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah Sistem Informasi Profil Desa yang berada di desa labuhan kecamatan sreseh, kabupaten sampang berbasis website menggunakan metode Waterfall untuk mempermudah seseorang yang ingin mencari informasi mengenai desa labuhan bisa lebih mudah. Desa adalah unit pemerintahan yang membutuhkan platform online untuk menyediakan informasi kepada warganya. Metode Waterfall digunakan untuk mengorganisir proses pengembangan sistem secara terstruktur. Metode pengembangan yang digunakan adalah metode waterfall yang terdiri dari lima tahap pengembangan yaitu: (1) Analisis, (2) Rancangan, (3) Penerapan, (4) Pengujian, dan (5) Pemeliharaan. Sistem dibuat menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan menggunakan database MySQL. Setelah sistem informasi selesai dibuat dilakukan pengujian blackbox testing untuk melihat kelayakan sistem. Kegiatan ini mencakup tahap analisis kebutuhan, perancangan sistem, implementasi, pengujian, dan pemeliharaan. Pada tahap implementasi, kami menggunakan berbagai teknologi web seperti HTML, CSS, JavaScript, dan Visual Studio Code serta Xampp untuk menampilkan wesite yang di buat dalam membangun antarmuka yang intuitif dan responsif. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem ini dapat diakses dengan baik melalui berbagai perangkat, termasuk komputer desktop, dan ponsel. Pemeliharaan sistem akan dilakukan secara berkala untuk memastikan bahwa informasi yang disediakan bisa memenuhi kebutuhan mengenai informasi yang disampaikan. Dengan demikian, Sistem Informasi Profil Desa berbasis website ini dapat menjadi alat yang berguna dalam memfasilitasi akses informasi bagi warga desa dan pihak perangkat desa yang tertarik untuk mengetahui lebih banyak tentang desa tersebut.

Abstract

Sanksi adat Jeret Naru merupakan mekanisme komunitas Gayo dalam menanggapi tindak pidana perzinahan yang dianggap mencederai norma agama, adat, dan kehormatan keluarga. Meskipun Aceh menerapkan hukum formal berbasis syariat Islam melalui Qanun Jinayat, penyelesaian konflik di tingkat kampung masih mengandalkan hukum adat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan hukum empiris dengan metode kualitatif dan inventarisasi hukum yang hidup, melalui wawancara dengan tokoh adat, korban, pelaku, serta observasi proses musyawarah adat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jeret Naru dijalankan melalui pelaporan, musyawarah, penetapan denda, dan pemulihan martabat sosial korban, yang dianggap lebih efektif dan bermartabat dibanding jalur formal. Tantangan meliputi pergeseran nilai generasi muda, lemahnya regulasi kelembagaan adat, serta ketidaksinkronan dengan hukum positif. Penguatan lembaga adat, pencatatan putusan, dan harmonisasi dengan Qanun Jinayat diperlukan agar Jeret Naru tetap relevan dan sah dalam kerangka pluralisme hukum.

Abstract

Mental Health is a condition where an individual can develop physically, mentally, spiritually and socially so that the individual is aware of his or her own abilities, can handle pressure, can work productively, and is able to contribute to his or her community. Several factors cause mental disorders, namely a work environment with a high risk of violence, facing various types of stress and an uncomfortable workplace. Mental disorders can take the form of changes in the mental and emotional atmosphere which have an impact on physical disorders and are rarely recognized by sufferers, including nurses. Nursing is a profession that has a very high risk of stress, because nurses have very high duties and responsibilities for the safety of human life. The aim of the research is to determine the self-reporting of mental health of nurses at RSUD Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto, Gorontalo Regency. The research design is a descriptive design, with a sampling technique using non-probability sampling, namely snowball sampling. The sample in this study using the Slovin formula obtained 175 respondents. The results of this research showed that 131 respondents (74.9%) were not indicated, and 44 respondents were indicated (25.1%). The conclusion of this study shows that the majority of nurses at RSUD M.M. Dunda Limboto has no indication of a mental health disorder which is known from the Self Reporting Questionnaire assessment. It is hoped that nurses can maintain mental health by doing self-rewards to increase their capacity as nurses.
