Abstract

ntroduction Learning English and Pharmacy are two fields of study that are interrelated and complementary. Proficiency in English is very important for Pharmacy students because most of the literature and publications in the field of Pharmacy are written in English. However, most Pharmacy students experience difficulties in understanding the literature and publications due to their limited English skills. Therefore, learning strategies are needed that can improve English language skills and translation skills of Pharmacy students. One of the learning strategies that can be implemented is integrated learning between English and Pharmacy. This integrated learning can help students understand Pharmacy texts written in English more easily and effectively. However, very little research has been conducted to determine the effect of implementing this integrated learning on the ability to translate Pharmacy students. Objective The aim of this study was to determine the effect of implementing integrated learning in English and Pharmacy on students' ability to translate pharmaceutical texts. Method The research method used was a pretest-posttest control group design with a sample of 60 students of the X University Pharmacy Study Program. The sample was divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was given integrated learning in English and pharmacy, while the control group was given conventional learning.. Results The results showed that there was a significant difference between the ability to translate pharmacy texts before and after the implementation of English and pharmacy integrated learning in the experimental group. Whereas in the control group, there was no significant difference between the ability to translate pharmaceutical texts before and after conventional learning. The interviews showed that the obstacles faced by students in translating pharmaceutical texts were limited knowledge of English and limited knowledge of pharmacy. Integrated learning of English and pharmacy helps overcome these obstacles by providing more focused and structured teaching on both aspects. Conclusion It can be concluded that the application of English and pharmacy integrated learning can improve students' ability to translate pharmaceutical texts. Therefore, integrated learning of English and pharmacy can be used as an alternative learning strategy that is more effective and efficient in improving the quality of pharmacy education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

In the face of rapid technological change and evolving learner needs, higher education is challenged to adopt more flexible and student-centered learning strategies. Microlearning characterized by short, focused learning segments has emerged as a promising approach to support continuous learning among university students. This study aims to investigate the role of microlearning in fostering self-regulated and lifelong learning habits in higher education. Employing a qualitative research design, the study was conducted at two universities in Indonesia from September 2024 to January 2025. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving 10 lecturers and 20 students who had engaged with microlearning modules. Thematic analysis revealed that microlearning promotes learner autonomy, engagement, and knowledge retention, particularly when integrated meaningfully into the curriculum. However, challenges were identified, including disparities in digital literacy, limited institutional support, and difficulties aligning microlearning with conventional academic structures. The study concludes that while microlearning is not a standalone solution, it holds significant potential as a complementary instructional strategy that supports the development of continuous learning cultures in higher education. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on digital pedagogy by offering practical insights for educators and institutions seeking to modernize teaching practices in response to the demands of 21st-century learners.

Abstract

The development of the Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe area in Blang Mangat District, Lhokseumawe City, is expected to impact the surrounding transportation system and road infrastructure. This community service activity aims to assess the performance of several main road segments that may be affected to support smooth accessibility and traffic safety in the area. The study was conducted through field surveys with direct observation, including an inventory of road geometric conditions and manual traffic volume counts on four major road segments. The collected data were then analyzed using road capacity, degree of saturation (DS), and level of service (LoS). Results showed three road segments operated at Level of Service C (DS between 0.51 0.62), indicating stable traffic flow but approaching maximum capacity. The remaining segment was at Level of Service A (DS between 0.11 0.19), representing very smooth traffic conditions. The highest traffic volumes were recorded on the Sp. CundaBuket Rata and Buket RataCity Boundary segments, particularly during peak hours, with load capacities ranging from 1,327 pcu/hour to 3,844 pcu/hour. To anticipate the potential increase in traffic load due to future educational activities in the area, traffic management strategies were proposed, including transport scheduling, officer deployment, and control of roadside disturbances. This study highlights the importance of early planning and intervention to maintain safety, efficiency, and comfort for road users in the area.

Abstract

From a comparative perspective, this article analyses the doctrinal debate that arose in Sunni and Shia Islam after adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. This research method is a descriptive comparative prospective study carried out by comparing and explaining the object of research objectively and factually based on the data sources obtained. In this case, the benchmark for comparative data is Islamic law and human rights studies from the perspective of Islamic teachings and Shia Islam. For decades, this text has produced almost no response in Islam. In its final recommendations, the Congress of the Sixth Academy called for uniting the Muslim community, respecting human dignity and human rights, condemning racial discrimination by certain States that believe they are civilized, as well as only publishing works that expose the position of his arguments correspond to the thesis outlined by Abū al-Aʿlā Maudūdī in his texts on the Islamic State and a booklet on human rights in Islam. Certain are confident they are civilized and only publish works that expose the Islamic position on human rights. In November 1975, Mawdūdī gave a lecture in Lahore on the question which arose in response to this recommendation. From the 1980s onwards, more prominent thinkers began to confront their legal traditions with those that became the source of human rights. While comparing the two legal systems contributes to major developments and contrasts in the con-thought of temporary Islamic law.
