Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach based on local wisdom to enhance elementary students’ creativity and scientific literacy. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving one fourth-grade teacher and 25 students at SDN 3 Karang Bongkot, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that integrating STEAM with local wisdom significantly improves students’ engagement, creativity, and scientific literacy. Students became more enthusiastic in connecting scientific concepts with local culture through contextual projects combining art and simple technology. Moreover, this approach fostered essential character values such as collaboration, responsibility, and appreciation for local traditions. Therefore, the STEAM-based local wisdom approach is proven to be an effective and innovative learning strategy for elementary education. Abstract

This study aims to systematically review various research findings on the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving elementary school students’ critical thinking skills. This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach using literature sources from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus, covering publications from 2014 to 2024. A total of 80 articles were identified, of which 35 met the inclusion criteria for in-depth analysis. The results indicate that PBL consistently enhances students’ critical thinking skills through contextual problem-solving activities, collaborative discussions, and individual reflection. The success of PBL implementation is influenced by teachers’ facilitative roles, students’ readiness, and supportive learning environments. However, challenges such as limited time, facilities, and teachers’ understanding of critical thinking assessment remain significant barriers. This review recommends the development of digital and contextual-based PBL models to strengthen the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and foster higher-order thinking skills among elementary school students. Abstract

This study examines the efforts of classroom teachers in improving learning discipline among elementary school students. The research addresses the problem of low student discipline, which impacts academic achievement and classroom management. The objective of this study is to identify effective strategies and methods implemented by teachers to enhance students’ learning discipline. A qualitative research design with a descriptive approach was employed, involving observations, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that teachers utilize a combination of structured classroom routines, positive reinforcement, clear rules, and consistent monitoring to promote discipline. Additionally, the involvement of parents and collaborative activities contributes to a more disciplined learning environment. The study concludes that proactive teacher intervention and structured strategies significantly improve student discipline, resulting in better academic engagement and classroom order Penelitian ini mengkaji upaya guru kelas dalam meningkatkan disiplin belajar siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menyoroti masalah rendahnya disiplin siswa yang berdampak pada pencapaian akademik dan manajemen kelas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi strategi dan metode yang efektif yang diterapkan guru untuk meningkatkan disiplin belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, melibatkan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memanfaatkan kombinasi rutinitas kelas yang terstruktur, penguatan positif, aturan yang jelas, dan pemantauan yang konsisten untuk mendorong disiplin. Selain itu, keterlibatan orang tua dan kegiatan kolaboratif turut berkontribusi pada terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang lebih disiplin. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa intervensi proaktif guru dan strategi yang terstruktur secara signifikan meningkatkan disiplin siswa, yang berdampak pada keterlibatan akademik dan ketertiban di kelas yang lebih baik.

Abstract

The implementation of an independent curriculum in schools is closely related to the teacher's ability to compile teaching modules. Teachers are required to have the skills to structure teaching modules effectively. This study aims to answer the formulation of the problem about the Analysis of Teacher Difficulties in Compiling Teaching Modules Based on the Independent Learning Curriculum at SDN 2 Cakranegara Mataram City. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the results of the study, various difficulties faced by teachers were found when compiling teaching modules. There are three difficulty criteria identified in this study, namely: (1) as many as 35% of teachers understand teaching modules and their components; (2) as many as 15% of teachers understand the teaching module but do not understand its components, and (3) as many as 50% of teachers do not understand teaching modules and their components. Faced with conditions like this, every teacher who has difficulty understanding teaching modules is the responsibility of the school to provide guidance and assistance, because the quality of teachers has a significant impact on the implementation of the independent learning curriculum.

Abstract

The effect of the recitation learning method on student's motivation to learn. This study aimed to ascertain the importance of the recitation learning method's impact on the motivation of fourth-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram. The research methodology employed in this study is a quasi-experimental design, namely a non-equivalent control group design. The investigation was conducted in class IV SDN 15 Mataram, with IV A as the experimental class and IV B as the control class. The study employed a saturation sampling strategy, where 40 students were sampled from the population. Specifically, the experimental class consisted of 20 students, whereas the control class had 20 students. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the results of the t-test conducted t-count are greater than those of the t-table (10.351> 2.024). Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected, and seen from the sig value (Two-Sided p) <0.05 = (0.01 <0.05), then Ha is accepted. Ho is rejected, so as the basic rules for decision making in the independent sample T-test test can be concluded that there is an effect of the recitation learning method to increase the learning motivation of fourth-grade students of SDN 15 Mataram in the 2023/2024 school year.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance student learning activity by applying the Game-Based Learning model assisted by mission card media in Natural and Social Sciences. The research approach used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), carried out in two cycles, each consisting of three sessions. The research subjects were 33 third-grade students at SDN 2 Cakranegara. Data were obtained through observations of students' learning activities. The results showed an increase in the average student activity from 59.53% in Cycle I to 79.53% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the Game-Based Learning model with mission card media is highly effective in improving student engagement in the learning process. This study affirms the importance of game-based learning innovations as an effective way to enhance activity and learning motivation in elementary education

Abstract

Early reading difficulties are a fundamental issue that impacts the readiness and development of basic literacy in elementary school students, particularly in grade one. Students' inability to master early reading skills can hinder their achievement of competencies in subsequent learning stages. This study aims to examine in depth the various learning strategies teachers implement to overcome early reading barriers using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The study was conducted by searching for scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025 obtained from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus databases. Source selection was based on strict inclusion criteria and followed the PRISMA selection process to ensure data accuracy and reliability. The analysis results indicate that effective learning strategies include the systematic application of phonics methods, the use of multisensory media such as letter cards, pictures, and flannel, the provision of individual guidance for students experiencing specific difficulties and strengthening collaboration between teachers and parents to support the learning process at home. These findings emphasize the importance of adaptive, diagnostic, and sustainable learning strategies in overcoming early reading difficulties. This study recommends developing interactive technology-based learning models and increasing synergy between schools and parents to strengthen early literacy skills in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) terhadap literasi budaya siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Banyumulek. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dan desain nonequivalent control group. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas kelas IV A sebanyak 28 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas IV B sebanyak 26 siswa sebagai kelompok kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann–Whitney U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan awal kedua kelompok relatif setara, dengan rata-rata pre-test 65,50 pada kelas eksperimen dan 65,62 pada kelas kontrol. Setelah perlakuan, rata-rata post-test kelas eksperimen meningkat menjadi 80,30, sedangkan kelas kontrol mencapai 70,88. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p < 0,05). Dengan demikian, pendekatan CRT berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan literasi budaya siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the role of family literacy in developing the reading skills of elementary school students. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by analyzing national and international studies published between 2015 and 2025. Literature sources were obtained from Google Scholar, DOAJ, Scopus, and the Garuda Portal databases using the keywords “family literacy,” “reading skills,” “parental involvement in reading,” and “elementary school students.” The findings indicate that family literacy has a significant impact on improving several aspects of children’s reading skills, including reading interest, motivation, comprehension, and fluency. The most effective forms of family involvement include shared reading activities, establishing daily reading routines at home, providing reading materials, and offering emotional support for children. However, the effectiveness of family literacy is influenced by supporting factors such as parental knowledge, available time, and school support, while it is often hindered by economic constraints and limited access to reading materials. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration among families, schools, and the government to strengthen sustainable home-based literacy ecosystems as an integral part of national literacy policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers and cultural literacy in the formation of tolerance attitudes among elementary school students using a qualitative method with a Literature Review approach. The literature used was obtained from reputable databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar with a publication range from 2020 to 2025. The findings show that teachers play a key role as role models and facilitators in instilling human values through reflective, empathetic, and collaborative learning. Cultural literacy contributes to increasing empathy, social awareness, and respect for diversity among students. The integration of both creates a harmonious and inclusive school climate, supporting the formation of strong social character. However, most of the research remains descriptive and has not examined causal relationships or the long-term impact of cultural literacy implementation. Therefore, further research is needed to develop an integrated digital cultural literacy model and the role of teachers as a contextual learning strategy that adapts to the Merdeka Curriculum, in order to strengthen humanistic and sustainable character education.
