Abstract

The effect of the recitation learning method on student's motivation to learn. This study aimed to ascertain the importance of the recitation learning method's impact on the motivation of fourth-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram. The research methodology employed in this study is a quasi-experimental design, namely a non-equivalent control group design. The investigation was conducted in class IV SDN 15 Mataram, with IV A as the experimental class and IV B as the control class. The study employed a saturation sampling strategy, where 40 students were sampled from the population. Specifically, the experimental class consisted of 20 students, whereas the control class had 20 students. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the results of the t-test conducted t-count are greater than those of the t-table (10.351> 2.024). Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected, and seen from the sig value (Two-Sided p) <0.05 = (0.01 <0.05), then Ha is accepted. Ho is rejected, so as the basic rules for decision making in the independent sample T-test test can be concluded that there is an effect of the recitation learning method to increase the learning motivation of fourth-grade students of SDN 15 Mataram in the 2023/2024 school year.

Abstract

This study focuses on the comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create (RADEC) and the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) models equipped with make-a-match media on the creative thinking skills of elementary school students. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test group design. The research sample consisted of 52 fifth-grade students divided into two classes, each consisting of 26 students. Data were collected using a test. The paired t-test was used to calculate data, and N-gain calculations were used to measure the level of effectiveness. The results showed that both groups using the RADEC model (sig. = 0.001 <0.05) and PjBL (sig. 0.000 <0.05) demonstrated an effect on improving students' creative thinking skills before and after learning. However, the N-gain value indicates that RADEC reached 12.19% (ineffective category) with a mean post-test of 59.85, while PjBL reached 45.3% (less effective) with a mean post-test of 70.12. The findings indicate that PjBL with make-a-match media is more effective in improving students' creative thinking skills than RADEC with make-a-match media. Although the RADEC model also contributes to developing students' thinking skills, its impact on creativity is not as great as the PjBL model. This study provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers by highlighting the effectiveness of this learning approach. It suggests applying the PjBL model to develop students' creative potential further.

Abstract

Science textbooks are widely available and accessible in elementary schools, often at no expense to students. However, evaluating and comparing their effectiveness with a visually engaging alternative, such as a fun thinkers book model that incorporates numerous illustrations, is necessary. Elementary school students exhibit a strong favor for images over text. This study aims to assess students' comprehension abilities utilizing the fun thinkers book and traditional science textbooks. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection method employed a test instrument to assess knowledge and practices related to waste management with an environmental theme. Data analysis employed an independent sample t-test to assess the statistical significance difference between the experimental and control groups. The findings indicated that the students who utilized the fun thinkers book exhibited a better understanding of waste management than those who relied on the textbook. Including pictures in the fun thinkers book enhanced the learning engagement of elementary school students, resulting in a higher level of comprehension than students who used the textbook alone.

Abstract

Thinking creatively is very important for students in the 21st century because the demands of the times expect creative students to discover new things with advances in science and technology. The learning method applied at this time has yet to be able to train students to think creatively. This study aims to analyze differences in students' creative thinking skills between the mind mapping method and the picture and picture method. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a posttest-only control group design. The sample used was 45 fifth-grade elementary school students. The data collection technique uses a creative thinking ability test, which consists of four indicators: the ability to think fluently, flexibly, originality, and elaboration. Data analysis used a t-test through Jeffreys's Amazing Statistics software program. The results of the data analysis showed that Cohen's d score was 0.830. These results indicate a significant difference between the two learning methods. Based on the average score and the percentage of scores obtained by students on each indicator of creative thinking, it shows that mind mapping is superior to the picture-and-picture method in developing creative thinking. It was concluded that elementary school teachers can apply the mind mapping method to develop students' creative thinking skills.
