Abstract

Complete basic immunization plays a crucial role in public health efforts to protect infants from infectious diseases and to decrease child morbidity and mortality. Despite its importance, the coverage of complete basic immunization in the Socah Community Health Center area remained low at 44.7%, which did not meet the national standard. This situation reflects inadequate maternal adherence in providing immunizations for their children. The present study aimed to examine the association between maternal knowledge, family support, and anxiety levels with their adherence to complete basic immunization. An analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach was utilized. Eighty-three mothers with children aged 12–24 months were chosen through proportionate cluster random sampling. Data collection was conducted using structured questionnaires and immunization record reviews, and analyzed through the Chi-square test at a significance level of 0.05. Findings revealed significant associations between knowledge (p = 0.005), family support (p = 0.039), and anxiety (p = 0.007) and maternal adherence to immunization. Mothers possessing better knowledge, stronger family backing, and lower anxiety levels tended to follow the immunization schedule more consistently. The study suggests strengthening educational interventions and psychological support programs for mothers and families to enhance complete basic immunization coverage in the community.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of progressivism-based learning management as a strategic approach to developing independence and creativity in early childhood within PAUD institutions in Tulang Bawang. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that learning management grounded in progressivism principles—child-centered planning, experiential implementation, and authentic evaluation—effectively fosters children’s autonomy and creative capacity. Planning is characterized by flexible, interest-driven curriculum design that integrates local cultural elements, while classroom practices emphasize open-ended exploration, project-based activities, and facilitative teacher–child interactions. Evaluation shifts from product-oriented assessment to continuous, process-focused documentation through portfolios and learning stories. The integration of local materials and cultural context enriches learning experiences, demonstrating that progressivism can be adapted meaningfully in rural settings with limited resources. This study contributes to theoretical and practical insights by providing a holistic model of progressive learning management and highlighting the symbiotic relationship between independence and creativity. Despite challenges related to teacher understanding and facility limitations, strong stakeholder commitment supports sustainable implementation. These findings offer a contextual model that can be adopted by other regions aiming to advance progressive early childhood education aligned with local values.

Abstract

Pneumonia is as an acute respiratory infection that affects lung tisuue and stands as one of the primary causes of mortality among children worldwide.. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2022), pneumonia is caused by infectious agents such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). UNICEF (2024) reports that more than 700,000 children under the age of five die annually due to pneumonia. Radiological chest X-ray examination plays an essential role in detecting pulmonary abnormalities such as infiltrates, consolidation, and bronchopneumonia (Az et al., 2021). It also assists in distinguishing between bacterial and viral pneumonia (Aprilia et al., 2024). Objective to determine the radiological characteristics of chest X-ray findings in pediatric patients with pneumonia at Royal Prima Ayahanda Hospital Medan. Methods this research employed a descriptive retrospective study design using a cross sectional approach. Secondary data were collected from the medical records of pediatric pneumonia patients at Royal Prima Ayahanda Hospital, Medan, during 2022–2023. A total of 57 pediatric patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in frequency and percentage distributions based on variables such as age, gender, infiltrate, and consolidation findings. The results showed that the most common age group was 0–1 years (42.1%), with females predominating (61.4%). Chest X-ray examination revealed that 75.4% of patients had abnormal radiological findings. The most frequent feature was pulmonary infiltrate (77.2%), while consolidation was found in 21.1% of patients. Conclusion most pediatric pneumonia patients demonstrated abnormal radiological chest X-ray findings, predominantly alveolar infiltrates. Chest X-ray examination remains an important diagnostic tool in assessing lung involvement and determining the severity of pneumonia in children.

Abstract

Abstract

Infertility is a problem experienced by some women and men around the world. Most infertility problems in women is caused by impaired reproductive organs or disrupted ovulation.. One factor that causes impaired oocyte maturation is wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) radiation which has a radio frequency field of 2.45 GHz. The radiation may increase the activity of free radical cells through the fenton reaction pathways that cause infertility because of the disrupted oocyte development. This study aimed to determine the effect of Wi-Fi radiation on the number of oocytes. This was an experimental study using control group design. The subjects were 32 female mice selected through complete random sampling and divided into two groups: control (R0) and exposure (R1). Each group consisted of 16 mice. The Wi-Fi radio frequency used was 2.5 GHz. Mice (R1) were placed closer to Wi-Fi source (± 15cm), and there were two types of laptop PCs and 3G mobile phones connected to internet placed next to mice for 15 hours/28 days. The mice underwent a simultaneous cycle with intraperitoneal injection of PMSG and HCG. Furthermore, the mice were mated with vasectomized male monomatingly to induce ovulation. The fertilization pouch in both oviducts were observed for oocyte collection. The number of oocytes was calculated using an inverted microscope. There was a difference in the number of oocytes between control and exposure group. Statistical tests were analyzed using Mann Whitney U and resulted in significant values (p value = 0.00). No oocytes count in exposure group. In other words, the group underwent anovulation. In conclusion, Wi-Fi radiation affected the number of oocyte stimulation in mice. Therefore, it was important to minimize the risk factors that trigger electromagnetic radiation on reproductive health.

Abstract

The pandemic of Covid-19 affected entire daily human life worldwide, including sports activities among athletes. An athlete was pushed to suit their routine activities with a new health protocol for Covid-19 prevention. Some of them were programmed to train at home with a moderate density of exercise, but others were still in a high density of exercise. This study compared the serum level of hemoglobin (Hb), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and hepcidin among athletes with a high versus moderate exercise density training program during the pandemic. Thirty-four indoor soccer athletes of a soccer football school in Malang voluntarily registered as a subject. Half of them received moderate exercise density exercise programs, and others received high-density exercise programs during June-July 2020. Interleukin-6 and hepcidin level mean was found significantly lower in the moderate group compared to the high-density group. Hemoglobin level mean was found not different between those groups. The lower density of exercise influenced on IL-6 and hepcidin serum level of athlete, but not on hemoglobin level.
