Abstract

Hill Cipher is a one of the symmetric key cryptography algorithm that using an invertible matrix with an order n×n as a key to encrypt and decrypt plaintext. Meanwhile, ElGamal is other asymmetric key cryptography algorithm that use the complexity of discrete logarithms in the encryption and decryption process. In this study, the authors are interest in combine the Hill Cipher and ElGamal algorithms to secure text messages. The author use the matrix as a symmetric key and converts the plaintext in the table of ASCII 256. Then encrypt using the Hill Cipher algorithm which results the ciphertext from messages and ElGamal algorithm results the ciphertext of the symmetric key. In processing decryption using the ElGamal algorithm to determine the symmetric key that will be used as a key in the decryption process with the Hill Cipher algorithm so that the original plaintext is obtained. Then the results obtained are that the combination of the Hill Cipher and ElGamal algorithms to secure text messages can be done it well.

Abstract

Cryptography is widely used to overcome information security problems that are exchanged on the internet network. One of the algorithms in cryptography is the Vigenere Cipher, the algorithm is known as a robust method and is not easily solved. However, the Vigenere Cipher algorithm has a weakness, namely the key is short and is used repeatedly. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the Vigenere Cipher. The purpose of this study is to determine the modification of the Vigenere Cipher using a symmetric group and also to determine the level of security of the encryption results of Vigenere Cipher modification when compared to the Vigenere Cipher. The results obtained from this research is a new algorithm of the modification process of the Vigenere Cipher using symmetric groups. The modified Vigenere Cipher algorithm is proven to be stronger than the Vigenere Cipher. This is because the plaintext is scrambled first using a symmetric group encoding, so that the actual plaintext is safe against attacks by the Kasiski method and exhaustive key search. In addition, the resulting new algorithm also supports the use of capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Abstract

Innovation in learning is one of the efforts that can be made by educators to achieve the expected learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze, describe and discuss the use of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) on students' problem-solving abilities in elementary schools. The method used in this research is SLR (Systematic Literature Review). This research uses sheet analysis of articles as a research instrument. The first step taken was to collect related articles published in the 2019-2021 period with sources from Google Scholar, sort the data, analyze the articles, summarize the discussion, and make conclusions. The articles used in this study were seven journal articles. The results of the study found that the use of RME in learning activities had a positive impact on the problem-solving abilities of elementary school students. This can happen because RME essentially means three things: (1) the real context in everyday life; (2) formal mathematical context in mathematics; or (3) an imaginary context that the mind can imagine.

Abstract

Self-efficacy will help students encourage themselves to feel able to complete tasks from simple to complex problems and maximize their creativity until the problem is resolved. This article aims to examine students' mathematical self-efficacy abilities in critical thinking. The method used is qualitative by collecting library data. Self-efficacy plays an important role in everything, especially for students who find it difficult to solve mathematical problems through critical thinking activities. With high self-efficacy, students are expected to be able to successfully solve mathematical problems and be able to think critically. Students with high selfefficacy believe that they can do well on math tests, understand the most difficult material, perform tasks with the best effort in math, and are able to master competencies in math class, and tend to have superior math achievements. On the other hand, students with low mathematical self-efficacy tend to be vulnerable and give up easily in solving math problems and students' failure to solve math problems is assumed to be due to their lack of mathematical abilities.

Abstract

The discovery of students who feel anxious, doubtful, and do not have confidence in learning mathematics has an impact on the low component of affection and also student achievement, the importance of Self-Efficacy is the trigger for this research. The purpose of this research is to determine the phenomenon of the influence and linkage of Self-Efficacy on the mathematical ability of elementary school students. This type of research is pre-experimental research with one-shot case study design. Data analysis using a mix of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Data retrieval techniques are taken with test techniques to measure mathematical understanding ability and non-test techniques such as filling out questionnaires and interviews. The results of this research were shown from inferential correlation and linear regression tests and concluded that: (1) self-efficacy has a significant relationship with students' mathematical understanding ability; (2) self-efficacy positively affects students' mathematical understanding ability; and (3) The findings show that students' self-efficacy is still low, as well as their learning outcomes, the trigger for low self-efficacy is thought to be due to the socio-cultural and economic background of students, aggravated by learning styles in schools that do not pay attention to the realm of student affection.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of students' acquisition of Mathematical Understanding Ability using the PBL and IBL models. The method in this research is a mixed method The sample in this research was 16 students in class IV at SDN 1 Girimukti and 12 students in class IV at SDN 2 Girimukti. The results of the research based on SPSS calculations show that descriptively the average gain in mathematical understanding ability of students who studied with PBL was 77.81, higher than the average gain in mathematical understanding ability of students who studied with IBL which was 63.33. Distribution of scores for the acquisition of mathematical understanding ability of students who learning with PBL is more spread out compared to the scores for gaining mathematical understanding abilities of students who study with IBL, as can be seen from the standard deviation scores in both classes, where the PBL class is 8.2 and the IBL is 7.8. The conclusion shows that the description of the mathematical understanding abilities of students who obtain the PBL model is higher than the mathematical understanding abilities of students with the IBL model seen from the mean and standard deviation.

Abstract

Learning obstacles were found in students who studied LCM and GCF. This research aims to develop an initial design in the form of a hypothetical learning trajectory for LCM and GCF using the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explanation, and Create) learning model which is based on obstacles learning findings. This research is part of the design research method. The design research method consists of preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The focus of this research is the preliminary design stage. Based on the results, it is known that students have difficulties in solving questions on LCM and GCF material, namely that students cannot use the concepts of LCM and GCF to solve problems, students tend to think that the concepts of LCM and GCF are only factor trees or procedural factorization, and students do not understand the concepts of LCM and GCF. To overcome these learning obstacles, a hypothetical learning trajectory for the LCM and GCF was prepared using the RADEC learning model which was divided into three meetings. The first meeting was about multiples, common multiple, and LCM. The second meeting was about factors, common factors, and GCF. The third meeting was regarding determining the LCM and GCF using prime factorization. Each learning flow from each meeting is described in the form of HLT which consists of learning objectives, learning activities, and student thinking estimates. The theoretical implications in this research are the new findings of HLT LCM and GCF with the RADEC learning model and practical implications in this research are that HLT can be used as a consideration for teachers in designing LCM and GCF learning by paying attention to students' learning trajectories.

Abstract

Semiotics is defined as using signs to represent mathematical concepts in problem-solving. The mathematical semiotic process involves creating meaning from the triadic relationship between the representamen (R), object (O), and interpretant (I). Mathematical semiotics play an essential role in the cognitive processes of individuals as they formulate and communicate mathematical ideas. Therefore, this study aims to describe the stages of the semiotic process of junior high school students solving integers-related mathematical problems. In this qualitative analysis, the participant is a seventh-grade student categorized as pseudo-semiotic. The research instrument is a test on integers and interviews. The results demonstrate that the semiosis related to integers involves the representamen, object, and interpretant stages. For a subject with a pseudo-semiotic type, this meaning-making process requires the construction of a comprehensive understanding of the concept. Furthermore, the understanding is developed using various instruments, resulting in connection conflicts between different components of the semiotic system. Connection conflict occurs because of the mismatched relationship between the elements of semiosis: representamen, object, and interpretant. A pseudo-semiotic subject only has a superficial understanding of mathematical concepts, making it challenging to establish accurate connections between symbols and their underlying meanings. Consequently, this hinders the ability to understand mathematics profoundly and apply the concepts in real-life situations.

Abstract

In the last decade, augmented reality has been one type of virtual reality technology. AR can be applied to mobile learning, improving efficiency and effectiveness in education, even for learning mathematics. The study aims to analyze and describe comprehensively the effect of experiential learning and direct instruction assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition and improvement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This research uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design and a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study consisted of 50 students in the eighth grade at one of the secondary schools in Bandung, Indonesia. The instrument in this study is a set of mathematical reasoning ability tests. The results of this study concluded that 1) Based on the standard of the deviation, the descriptive spread of scores for achieving mathematical reasoning abilities of students learning with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality (more widespread); 2) Cohen's d value on the output paired samples effect sizes was 14.003 with a point estimate of (large) so the value of the effects sizes obtained shows that the implementation of experiential learning assisted augmented reality has a major effect on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities; 3) The mean achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students studying with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality was 60.38 relatively lower than the mean achieving mathematics reasoning abilities of students who studied with directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, 70.33; 4) The effect size value shown by the value is -3.50, and this value is less than 0.2, so based on Cohen's d criterion, then the effect of experiential learning assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities students are in the small category. The findings combine experiential learning and directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, influencing students' reasoning ability mathematically.
