Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. About 2.1 million lung cancer patients were diagnosed in 2018, accounting for about 11.6% of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. For lung cancer, blood is the first choice as a source of screening biomarker candidates. Blood biomarkers provide a snapshot of the patient's entire body, including the primary tumor, metastatic disease, immune response, and peritumoral stroma. However, sputum sampling, bronchial lavage or aspiration, exhaled breath (EB), and airway epithelial sampling represent unique samples for lung cancer and other airway cancers as potential sources for alternative biomarkers. Metabolites are products of cell metabolism that are unique biomarkers in a disease. In this article, we aim to find metabolite biomarkers using machine learning. Metabolite data were obtained from Metabolomic workbench, while detection and identification were performed in silico. From 82 samples, controls and cancers, we found 158 metabolites and analyzed them. From the analysis, we found 3 metabolites that play an important role in lung cancer and found 1 metabolite that is the most influential. From there we found that glutamic acid is one of the best biomarker candidates we provide for detecting lung cancer. However, this simulation still needs to be improved in order to find other biomarkers that can provide a better detection of lung cancer

Abstract

Background Stunting is one of the problems that occurs in children who live in slum areas. Inadequate nutrient intake has been associated with stunting in children. Objective To assess nutrient intake and analyze the differences between stunted and non-stunted children aged 2-5 years. Methods This comparative cross-sectional study compared nutrient intake and stunting among children 2-5 years in slum areas in Kebon Bawang Village North Jakarta. Subjects’ nutrient intake was assessed using the Semiquantitative-Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). To analyze differences in subject characteristics and nutrient intake in the stunted and non-stunted groups, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney test, and independent T-test were used. Results From a total of 42 respondents, the characteristics of subjects were not significantly different between the stunted and non-stunted groups, in age (P=0.120), gender (P=0.126), maternal occupation (P=0.729), or maternal education (P=0.127). The stunted group had significantly lower intake of energy (P=0.003), carbohydrates (P=0.024), protein (P=0.005), and fat (P=0.001) than that of the non-stunted group. However, the majority of subjects had protein adequacy above the sufficiency level in both groups (P=0.638), while significantly more subjects in the stunted group had insufficient carbohydrate adequacy than in the non-stunted group (P=0.032). Conclusion Overall, nutrient intake in the stunted group is lower than that of the non-stunted group. Protein adequacy is above sufficient for most subjects in both groups, while the significantly more stunted subjects have insufficient carbohydrate adequacy. In carrying out interventions, it is necessary to consider fulfilling a balance of nutrients, especially macronutrients.

Abstract

Forests are terrestrial ecosystems that are mostly covered with trees and dominate almost the entire land surface of the earth. Forests play an important role in ecology, social, economic and environmental aspects. Forests are useful as producers of environmental goods and services. The benefits of forests as producers of goods such as wood, rattan, medicinal plants, fruit and so on are clearly visible and immediately felt. However, other benefits of forests as producers of services such as absorbing carbon, producing oxygen, regulating water management, preserving ecosystems, preventing erosion and others whose benefits can be felt but not seen sometimes receive less attention from policy makers because they are not felt directly. in economics. In fact, these indirect benefits greatly influence the quality of the environment and are very beneficial for humans and other living creatures. This article provides an overview of the indirect benefits of forests through a review of several literature. This literature review shows that the indirect benefits of forests, especially as carbon absorbers and oxygen producers, make the largest contribution to calculating the total economic value, so that policy makers need more attention in managing forests so that they remain sustainable.

The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) has various ethnicities, races, and religions. Likewise the diversity that exists in the city of Tanjungbalai, the people of Tanjungbalai have a population of 108,202 people, and in Asahan Regency a population of 884,594 people. They live side by side with various other ethnic groups, such as the Toba Batak, Mandailing, Minangkabau, and Javanese. The majority of the population of the city of Tanjungbalai adhere to Islam, up to 84.67 people, the rest adhere to Protestant Christianity, Buddhism and Catholicism. But behind that, there were many disparities between religions that ended in riots. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The qualitative research method is a research method that places more emphasis on aspects of understanding in depth on a problem rather than looking at problems for generalization research. In strengthening inter-religious harmony in Tanjungbalai, there have been several steps taken by both the government and religious leaders, both Islamic and Chinese leaders. This step also aims to make the people of Tanjungbalai a harmonious and more peaceful society in carrying out their daily lives.

Abstract

Films, as literary works, use numerous types of language to communicate meaning, provoke emotions, and tell stories successfully. The auditory and symbolic elements are part of the languages associated with figurative language that refers to written or spoken communication, its principles and effects can also be applied in visual storytelling, which is a key aspect of the film itself. Understanding figurative language in a movie is a challenge for language enthusiasts as it involves interpretation and awareness of cultural and contextual influences on meaning. This study, exploring the use of figurative language in ‘The Shape of Water’ movie, employed a descriptive qualitative approach, which provides a factual and accurate description of the issue or area of interest. The study found that the film used seven language styles: personification, metaphor, simile, euphemism, metonymy, and allegory. Each figure of speech appears in varying quantities, In addition, there were fifteen sentences out of forty-six data containing similes which means people are most familiar with similes in literary works, notably in movies.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn the 16th century, Kadaleman Kawasen became one of the government systems that was influenced by Mataram. The change of the kadaleman system into a village was influenced by colonial policies that spread its power to Priangan. This study aims is to describe the process of changing the Kadaleman Kawasen government system into a village named Kawasen Village and to describe the comparison of the two systems. The method is using the historical method with for steps. The first is heuristic, it means the source collection stage. The second is criticism, it means researching the source, criticism is divided into external critism and internal criticism. The third is interpretations, it means interpreting the source and the fourth is historiography, it means writing of history. Kadaleman Kawasen  that had a district level position was abolished by the colonial government for some reason. Kadaleman Kawasen runs a government system under the reign of the Mataram Kingdom hegemony. The regent gains the position and power as a minor king who reigns in his territory with inherent privilages. While the Village Government systems was from changes in colonial policies that became their superiors. The form and structure of government is determined based on the customary law of each region.   Keywords: Government, Kadaleman, Kawasen, and Village
