Abstract

Background: Obesity has become an epidemic in all parts of the world. One in five deaths is related to obesity predisposition. Providing foods high in fiber can be a solution to treating obesity. The addition of glucomannan to growol cookies can optimize the fiber content of food which will have an effect in controlling satiety and glycemic control. Objective: To study the effect of glucomannan-modified growol cookies, as a healthy snack in the context of preventing obesity, on changes in satiety and blood glucose levels in excessive-weight subjects (ES) and normal-weight subjects (NS).Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre-post design without a control group was conducted on 30 subjects (15 NS and 15 ES). The research was carried out at Universitas Respati Yogyakarta in June-July 2023. The satiety test was carried out using the SLIM (Satiety Labeled Intensity Magnitude) method. Blood glucose levels were measured using the Rapid Test method using Easy Touch GCU before, immediately after, and 120 minutes after giving cookies. Data on satiety and blood glucose levels were sequentially analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Paired Samples T Test (comparing before and after intervention) as well as the Mann-Whitney U Test and Independent Samples T Test (comparing between groups) with a significance of 95%.Results: There was a difference in the feeling of fullness between the 0th minute, 30th minute, 60th minute, and 90th minute compared to the initial feeling of fullness (basal) in the entire group (p<0.05). There was no difference in blood glucose levels between fasting blood glucose, 0-minute blood glucose, and 120-minute blood glucose. Glucomannan-modified growol cookies can delay hunger for 1-1.5 hours before the next big meal. Glucomannan-modified growol cookies can also maintain blood glucose stability in the range of 90 mg/dL.Conclusion: Glucomannan-modified growol cookies can have a positive effect on satiety control and glycemic control.

Abstract

Late childhood through early adolescence is a crucial period of psychosocial development, during which individuals begin to form self-identities, develop more complex social relationships, and build resilience and mental well-being. In elementary schools, the School Health Unit (UKS) plays a strategic role in shaping students' character and healthy behaviors. One example is the Tiwisada Cadre program, which involves young health cadres trained to assist with promotive and preventive activities within the school environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between UKS Tiwisada cadres and non-Tiwisada cadres at SDN Panggungrejo 04 Kepanjen. This study used an ex post facto approach, which is methodologically similar to experimental research that tests hypotheses. However, in ex post facto research, the researcher does not administer any specific treatment or manipulation, as the event occurred prior to the study. The population in this study were all students at SDN Panggungrejo 04 Kepanjen, Malang Regency, who have the Tiwisada Cadre extracurricular program. The sample size was 104 students, with each group consisting of 52 Tiwisada Cadres and 52 non-Tiwisada Cadres. The results showed that there were significant differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between Tiwisada UKS cadres and non-cadres. Tiwisada cadres tended to have different results in terms of prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being that were higher than non-cadres. The conclusion of this study is that there are significant differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between Tiwisada UKS cadres and non-cadres. Cadres showed higher levels of prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being than non-cadres.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of volleyball extracurricular activities on prosocial behavior, resilience, and physical fitness among vocational high school students. A quantitative quasi-experimental design was applied with a sample of 100 students from SMK PGRI Kasembon, divided equally into an experimental group (volleyball extracurricular participants) and a control group (non-participants). Data were collected through questionnaires assessing prosocial behavior and resilience, as well as the bleep test for physical fitness (VO₂max). Statistical analysis indicated three key findings: first, no significant differences were observed in prosocial behavior between the two groups; second, resilience was significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group; and third, students involved in volleyball extracurricular activities demonstrated significantly better physical fitness levels. These results suggest that while volleyball extracurricular activities may not directly enhance prosocial behavior, they play an essential role in strengthening resilience and improving physical health. The findings highlight the importance of integrating sports-based extracurricular programs into school curricula to support students’ psychological development and physical well-being.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of consumer protection in transactions conducted through TikTok Marketplace as an emerging form of social commerce that integrates entertainment, algorithmic curation, and e-commerce features. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 150 respondents with purchasing experience on the platform and analyzed through descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The study focuses on four dimensions: consumer protection, transparency, allocation of responsibility, and dispute resolution mechanisms. The findings indicate that consumer protection is perceived at a moderate level, suggesting that existing legal frameworks are not fully effective in addressing the structural characteristics of social commerce. Transparency is identified as the most influential factor, followed by responsibility and dispute resolution. However, information is often embedded in persuasive and entertainment-driven formats, limiting clarity and informed decision-making. The study also reveals ambiguity in responsibility among platforms, sellers, and influencers, as well as limited confidence in platform-based dispute resolution systems. These results highlight the need for more adaptive regulatory approaches that integrate legal, technological, and behavioral dimensions to ensure effective consumer protection in digital marketplace environments.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of green knowledge management, ecological innovation, and ecological commitment on sustainable competitive advantage and sustainable marketing performance among batik and natural-dyed ecoprint MSMEs in Purworejo Regency. The study addresses the problem of low integration of sustainable business practices and limited use of local natural resources, which challenge MSMEs in responding to global market demands and environmental regulations. A quantitative explanatory survey was conducted with 100 SMEs selected by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). The results show that green knowledge management, ecological innovation, and ecological commitment have significant positive effects on sustainable competitive advantage and green marketing performance. In addition, sustainable competitive advantage mediates the relationship between these factors and green marketing outcomes, providing important implications for MSME development in eco-friendly industries.

Abstract

Background: Poundfit is a rhythmic, music-driven aerobic exercise that integrates cardiovascular movement and strength-based activities. Despite its growing popularity, evidence regarding its effects on cardiometabolic parameters in healthy adults remains limited. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a short-term Poundfit exercise program on blood pressure and blood glucose levels in healthy adult women. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 22 women aged 19–50 years. Participants attended Poundfit exercise sessions twice weekly for two weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. Blood pressure and blood glucose levels were measured before and after the intervention. Pretest–posttest comparisons were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Following the two-week intervention, systolic and diastolic blood pressure showed slight reductions, while blood glucose levels showed a slight increase; however, none of these changes were statistically significant (p = 0.122 for systolic blood pressure, p = 0.933 for diastolic blood pressure, and p = 0.220 for blood glucose). Conclusion: A two-week Poundfit exercise program did not result in statistically significant changes in blood pressure or blood glucose levels in healthy adult women. These findings suggest that short-term Poundfit training may be insufficient to produce measurable cardiometabolic improvements in normotensive individuals, highlighting the need for longer or more intensive exercise interventions in future studies.

Abstract

The education gap between urban and rural areas in Indonesia remains a complex and ongoing problem. Differences in access to infrastructure, socioeconomic conditions, the quality of teaching staff, and technological developments contribute to disparities in educational quality and opportunities. This study aims to comprehensively examine the causes, impacts, and efforts to address the education gap through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, where data is obtained from various relevant scientific articles and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the education gap is influenced by key factors such as limited infrastructure, socioeconomic inequality, uneven distribution of teaching staff, and the gap in digital access. The resulting impacts are not only in the quality of learning and student learning outcomes, but also have implications for the low development of individual potential, increasing social inequality, and hampered economic growth. Various government efforts such as educational assistance programs, equal distribution of teaching staff, and digitalization of learning have been implemented, but their implementation still faces obstacles in terms of equity, suitability to local conditions, and effectiveness. Therefore, a more integrated and adaptive approach is needed to reduce the education gap between rural and urban areas in Indonesia
