Abstract

Students now frequently use smartphones to access the Internet, demonstrating their proficiency with technology. Students who collaborate in groups to develop innovative goods and Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart home systems benefit from the project-based learning method in the classroom. Students are trained and mentored to create new works, such as scientific publications in the form of scholarly articles and prototypes with remote control of electrical gadgets in residential houses over the internet. For students with a vocational education background, such as those attending Vocational High Schools (SMK), technology-based instruction is typically pertinent. However, SMAIT Al Auliya Balikpapan students who have a general education background and are used to science instruction like the National Science Olympiad (OSN) received IoT information technology training in this community service project. As a result, the training offered to SMAIT Al Auliya Balikpapan students is unique and highly engaging. Using the waterfall technique through phases of problem-solving and communication with partners, creating learning guide modules as instructional resources, putting training and student mentoring into practice, and evaluating. One of the outcomes is a house prototype with a smart home system that allows users to remotely manage doors, fans, and lights via an Android smartphone with an internet connection. With real-time smartphone monitoring of the room temperature, humidity, door access, and the on/off status of household electronics, the student-designed system improves home security. It is advised that Android devices be always connected to a reliable internet network in order to preserve the monitoring system's continuity and guarantee that it operates in real-time without any delays. Additionally, as a result of the creative product design and development, students have authored a scientific study on the subject of Android-based smart homes that will be published. Students should have access to trainings or extracurricular activities pertaining to emerging technologies in an attempt to enhance their knowledge, abilities, mastery, and technological updating.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation, has abundant coastal cultural heritage inherited from generation to generation. One of these traditions is Kakara, a local wisdom of the Soro Village community in Bima Regency, where people catch fish, shellfish, and crabs during low tide using traditional tools. This research aims to analyze the role of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students in preserving the Kakara culture, measure the effectiveness of educational programs to increase awareness, and formulate sustainable collaboration strategies among schools, communities, and local governments. This qualitative research uses an ethnographic approach with purposive sampling involving 50 students and local residents. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, questionnaires, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and analyzed using NVivo software. The results show that 75% of students understand Kakara as a cultural activity, 50% have participated directly, and 87.5% of community members are still active in this tradition. The NVivo analysis identified four dominant nodes: cultural understanding, youth participation, preservation challenges, and preservation strategies. The most dominant node—preservation strategy—indicates the importance of integrating Kakara into school learning, organizing annual cultural festivals, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration. Kakara remains relevant as a medium for cultural education and environmental awareness.

Abstract

The number of activities affected by the current pandemic has disrupted community activities, one of which is in the world of education. Several factors have been affected by this pandemic, especially the online learning system and attendance system. Student attendance is one of the important factors in the world of education for the formation of quality and student discipline. In-depth and detailed information about student attendance can determine the quality of student learning. Currently, students at SMK Negeri 2 Balikpapan are still doing attendance manually via google form which is where the google form itself is universal that can be accessed by many people, therefore to maintain attendance data so that it can only be accessed by certain people, an application is made to perform attendance where this application can detect the location of students when doing attendance. The student's location can be obtained by creating a specified location point and adding a distance radius that will serve to validate student attendance information. Making this web application begins with analyzing the needs of the web application to be made, then designing the web display using whimsical, creating a database design, creating PHP program code, and finally implementation. The result of the implementation of the web application that has been made is that this web can run well according to the design that has been made

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how madrasas develop students' character in the Society 5.0 era and to identify the various challenges and strategies implemented to strengthen moral values amid technological disruption. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted across three levels of madrasah education: Ibtidaiyyah, Tsanawiyah, and Aliyah. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three madrasah principals, three deputy heads of curriculum who also serve as teachers, students, and parents, complemented by participant observation and document analysis. Data analysis followed the stages of data reduction, data display, and verification. The findings reveal that character education challenges in madrasahs are multidimensional, encompassing technological, social, cultural, and institutional factors. In response, madrasahs implement holistic and integrative strategies, including strengthening religious foundations, transforming Islamic values into social ethics, integrating local wisdom, developing character-based digital literacy, and fostering synergy among teachers, families, and communities. These strategies demonstrate that madrasahs operationalize SDG 4.7 by promoting ethical digital citizenship, moral responsibility, and humanistic values within a technology-driven learning environment. This study contributes to theory by expanding the understanding of how Islamic educational institutions contextualize global frameworks such as Society 5.0 and SDG 4 within local religious and cultural settings. In practice, the findings provide policy-relevant insights for educators and policymakers in designing adaptive, values-based character education models that support sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality education in the digital age.
