Abstract

Black pepper contains piperine, which can irritate the digestive organs. Therefore, this study combined black pepper with yogurt containing probiotic bacteria, which are known to play a role in maintaining the balance of microbiota and digestive tract health. The objective of this study was to analyze the histopathology and histomorphometry of the digestive organs, particularly the stomach and small intestine, of mice (Mus musculus) after administration of a combination of black pepper extract and yogurt. The present study was conceptualized as an experimental study, employing a completely randomized design (CRD), encompassing five distinct treatments (distilled water, yogurt, a black pepper extract at a dose of 25, 50, 75 mg/kg BB, and yogurt. The results demonstrated that the thickness of the stomach wall in all treatment groups remained within the normal range. Treatment P2 demonstrated optimal outcomes, exhibiting a thickness of each layer of the stomach wall that ranged between the minimum and maximum values. In the small intestine, all histomorphometric parameters exhibited values that remained within the normal range. The conclusion of this research is combination did not result in an increase in gastric acid secretion and did not induce irritation to the gastric and small intestinal mucosa of mice.

Abstract

Nurul Inayah, 2026.

Abstract

The success of MSMEs in developing the sustainability-based halal fashion sector will largely depend on the implementation of effective strategies, as well as their ability to compete in the local and international markets. Sustainability in the context of halal fashion MSMEs involves several aspects, including the use of environmentally friendly materials, efficient management of natural and human resources, and attention to the social and economic welfare of workers. This study aims to analyze the development strategy of Sustainability-Based Halal Fashion Batik Style MSMEs. This study uses a qualitative motto by using the Nvivo application that supports searching for common words in data processing frequencies, displaying analysis in the form of tables and word frequencies that often appear based on the results of data coding. The results show that the words that appear most often are development, environment, society, growth, sustainable, meaning there is a relationship between these factors. The results of the study show that Langgam Batik develops its business based on three main pillars of sustainability, namely economic, social, and environmental. In terms of economy, product diversification and marketing with social media. From the social aspect, these MSMEs play a role in community empowerment through job creation and the preservation of cultural heritage through North Sumatran batik motifs. From an environmental perspective, there are opportunities to implement more environmentally friendly processes, such as the use of natural dyes that are less polluting. Therefore, support from the government, academics, and the business community is urgently needed to expand market reach and increase the competitiveness of halal fashion MSMEs at the national and international levels.

Abstract

Lembung Timur Village is an area surrounded by siwalan trees, which are known for their brown sugar production. Brown sugar is a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index. Therefore, it is suitable for use as an ingredient in food and beverages as a substitute for cane sugar. Jamu herbal medicine tends to be unpopular with children due to its distinctive taste and smell. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the use of palm sugar in making herbal medicine for children to reduce the bitter taste. This community service activity involved 23 participants, namely mothers from the Lembung Timur Village PKK. The purpose of implementing Community Service (PKM) is to improve the quality and quantity of low-calorie palm sugar processing as an ingredient in herbal medicine that meets standardized quality standards. The implementation method consisted of preparation, counseling, training in making herbal syrup for children with the addition of palm sugar, TTG provision, and evaluation. The results of this community partnership program were 1) an increase in the partners' knowledge in making palm sugar herbal syrup. The enthusiasm of the participants was reflected in their active participation in asking questions and expressing their opinions. The evaluation showed a 50%-80% increase in knowledge compared to before the PKM activity. In addition, the tabulation of data on the partners' satisfaction with all PKM activities was above 50%. 2) An increase in the quantity of products produced, namely with the provision of TTG, which was able to produce 8-15 liters per cycle, or the equivalent of 32-60 bottles of ready-to-consume syrup. Through this program, it is hoped that the welfare of the community will improve through health and economic independence and that it will contribute to the progress of the village.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation and effectiveness of the inquiry learning model in improving short story reading skills of third-grade students at SD Negeri Erelembang, motivated by the low level of students’ reading comprehension, particularly in understanding intrinsic elements of the text such as the main idea, theme, moral message, and conclusion. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 20 students as the research subjects. Data were collected through learning outcome tests in the form of pretest and posttest and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the students’ average score increased from 51.15 in the pretest to 84.80 in the posttest, with a learning completeness rate reaching 100%. The hypothesis test results indicated a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference between learning outcomes before and after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the inquiry learning model is effective in improving students’ short story reading skills, as it encourages student activeness, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the reading text.
