Abstract

In a process of making Lampung oral literature, of course, it cannot be separated from the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that build a literary work. Intertextual is a way to process two objects of study based on the assumption or hypothesis of the influence in a literary work, either intentional or unintentional. The data collection technique chosen is a documentary study technique, which is done by reading Lampung oral literature or research data sources and then documenting everything in the form of quotations as research data. Based on the results of the researcher's analysis, it can be concluded that the study of intertextuality in Lampung oral literature in the fairy tale "Ulun Nahen Serakkep and Lemawong jama Napuh" after being analyzed with the principle of intertextuality has a relationship between one text and another. The fairy tale “Ulun Nahen Serakkep and Lemawong jama Napuh” is a Lampung folk tale. The story is an oral tradition of Lampung which is told from generation to generation.

Abstract

This study explored the way in which Elementary School teachers used Indonesian folklore in their English classes to help students improve their analytical and critical reasoning skills. Visual culture theory was employed to examine data from interviews through the use of pictures. Moreover, Kress’ (1991) social-constructionist method was applied to investigate the additional realities of folktales as a cultural reality. A descriptive qualitative research method was implemented. The data used were the five English teachers’ teaching strategies. The study revealed that the teachers’ final goal was for students to understand the moral message in the folklore. The teachers were innovative in their teaching materials and approach in their EFL classes by integrating illustrations and other visual media related to folklore in language teaching. Visual media was believed to help language development and vice versa. The strategies included the use of videos with English subtitles, reading texts, questions and examples from real life. The teachers’ efforts were aimed at sharpening students’ analytical reasoning skills. Students needed to answer questions that strengthened their critical reasoning skills, identifying inequities and providing feasible solutions. Teachers, who had a crucial role in maximizing the advantage of using folklore, needed to tailor the story’s discussion to the students’ level of understanding. The outcome of the study inferred that the use of English translations of Indonesian folktales in the classroom potentially affected students’ English language development.

Abstract

This study investigates the self-perceived digital literacy competencies of college English teachers and explores how these competencies shape their digital identities on social networking sites (SNSs). This research is considered important in an era where the integration of technology in education and the use of SNSs for professional and personal purposes are increasingly prevalent. Through a comprehensive examination of teachers' self-perceptions and practices on SNS, this study highlights the complex interplay between digital competencies and digital identity construction. Data were collected through in- depth interviews and observations on lecturers' social media content, which provided valuable insights into the role of digital literacy in educators' digital identity. Findings highlighted that although these teachers generally demonstrated moderate digital literacy, they were able to create and develop positive and professional identities on social media. These skills empowered them to engage effectively in online educational communities, interactions, and networks. In addition, the teachers also demonstrated digital competence, confidence, and awareness of their professional responsibilities.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the effectiveness of parenting study activities in increasing parents' awareness of early childhood care. A resilient child is a child who can adjust, face challenges, and bounce back after experiencing a difficulty or problem. the implementation of this community service uses a community service method using a PAR approach with stages: Stage to Know, Stage to Understand, Stage to Plan, Stage to Act, Stage to Change. The results state that children's resilience does not appear suddenly, but needs to be trained from an early age by parents. A resilient child does not mean never failing, never being sad, or never being disappointed, a resilient child is a child who can get up, after feeling failure, sadness, and disappointment. Teaching children to face obstacles and rise from failure can be done by several things: being an example for children, building a mutually supportive relationship between parents and children, giving children the opportunity to develop a sense of responsibility, helping children control emotions, and giving children the opportunity to face challenges

Abstract

Writing skills are one of the most important basic skills that students must possess, both in academic and professional contexts. Writing is not just about expressing ideas, but also a means of critical thinking, logical argumentation, and systematic communication of ideas in accordance with the rules of good and correct language. Unfortunately, the reality on the ground shows that many students still struggle to produce well-structured, coherent writing with depth of analysis. This situation certainly poses a challenge for universities in preparing graduates who are not only theoretically competent but also able to communicate their ideas through writing. To address these issues, the Student Creativity Programme (PKM) was established with the aim of improving students' writing skills through a range of integrated activities. The main activities include academic writing training, creative writing workshops, and intensive mentoring by experienced mentors. The programme's implementation method emphasises a participatory approach, hands-on practice, and continuous evaluation that focuses on the participants' writing outcomes. Program outcomes demonstrate significant improvements in writing structure, idea development, and language accuracy. Students also appear more confident in producing written works, both scientific and non-scientific. Thus, this programme can serve as a strategic model for the sustainable and practical development of students' writing skills in higher education.
