Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education necessitates urgent ethical implementation frameworks, especially in vocational systems of developing countries like Indonesia, where workforce readiness meets digital transformation. The purpose of this study is to address gaps in ethical AI governance within Indonesian vocational schools (SMK). A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed, involving 847 stakeholders from 34 provinces and eight in-depth SMK case studies. Findings reveal moderate national AI ethics awareness (M=2.83), with significant regional gaps—from Java (3.01) to Papua (2.34)—and a critical privacy paradox: high concern (M=3.67) coexists with low legal literacy (28.9%). Students actively use AI for academic support (64.3%) but lack institutional guidance, while teachers face identity crises requiring deeper pedagogical reform beyond technical training. The proposed ETIKA-SMK framework, co-developed with experts, received strong validation (relevance 4.3/5.0; innovation 4.4/5.0) and showed improvements in ethical policy compliance (67.8%) and cybersecurity practices (58.7%) at pilot schools. The study highlights the need for differentiated implementation strategies, as 50% of SMKs fall into “Traditional” or “Struggling” categories requiring foundational capacity-building. It concludes that ethical AI integration must be grounded in local contexts, institutional capacities, and cultural values, rather than adopting standardized global models unsuitable for low-resource educational environments.

Abstract

Soil-borne fungal pathogens represent a persistent threat to plant health due to their ability to colonize the rhizosphere and infect root systems, yet information on their diversity in non-industrial palm species remains limited. Siwalan (Borassus flabellifer L.) is a drought-tolerant palm of ecological and socio-economic importance, but its rhizospheric fungal communities have not been systematically characterized. This study aimed to (1) isolate soil-borne fungi from the rhizosphere of siwalan and (2) identify potential pathogenic fungi based on macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics. Rhizosphere soil samples were collected at depths of 5–20 cm and processed using the soil dilution plate method. Fungal isolates were cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDA), purified through subculturing, and identified using colony morphology and microscopic structures observed through slide culture and lactophenol cotton blue staining. Data were analyzed descriptively by comparing fungal traits with standard taxonomic determination keys. Five soil-borne fungal taxa were successfully isolated and identified, namely Aspergillus flavus, Trichoderma longibrachiatum, Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus caelatus, and Aspergillus niger. The isolates exhibited distinct differences in colony pigmentation, growth rate, hyphal structure, vesicle morphology, and conidial characteristics. Among them, A. niger showed the fastest radial growth and highest sporulation intensity, whereas T. longibrachiatum and A. oryzae exhibited relatively slower growth. These morphological variations indicate functional diversity and differing adaptive strategies among fungi inhabiting the siwalan rhizosphere. This study provides the first systematic morphological baseline of soil-borne fungi associated with the rhizosphere of B. flabellifer. The findings contribute novel information on fungal diversity in an underexplored palm species and highlight the importance of early fungal characterization as a foundation for future molecular identification, pathogenicity testing, and the development of sustainable disease management strategies for siwalan cultivation systems.

Abstract

The development of digital technology demands effective and adaptive learning, especially in post-pandemic blended learning conditions. In 2021, teachers faced the challenge of limited face-to-face learning, where some students studied at school and others studied from home. Observations at SD Negeri Diwek 1 showed that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning was still dominated by lectures and literacy with minimal use of technology, resulting in students tending to be passive and less enthusiastic. This study aims to describe the application of 21st-century education strategies in improving the effectiveness of PAI learning through the integration of information technology and to identify the obstacles and solutions faced by teachers. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that the application of flipped learning with digital media and learning videos was able to increase student independence and engagement. The obstacles found included limitations in devices, internet networks, and technological capabilities. Teachers overcame these obstacles by adjusting methods and providing simple technology training.

Abstract

This research examines the process of self-realization of Raya, the protagonist of “A Space for the Unbound” (2023), through the lens of Carl Jung’s individuation theory. This study focuses on examining the character of Raya and her progression throughout the game as she experiences the individuation process. Using a qualitative-descriptive method rooted in Jungian psychoanalysis, the study examines the integration of four major archetypes: Persona, Shadow, Animus, and the Self. The analytical procedure involves a systematic four-stage approach: participatory data acquisition through full gameplay, narrative-ludic mapping of key conflicts, symbolic interpretation of visual elements, and theoretical synthesis. The findings reveal that Raya’s journey meticulously represents a Jungian individuation process, where the ‘Spacedive’ mechanic functions as a sophisticated interactive metaphor for penetrating the unconscious to confront the Shadow and integrate suppressed childhood trauma. The character’s self-realization is achieved not merely through narrative resolution, but through the transformation of ludic-visual elements—such as environmental shifts and symbolic motifs—that manifest her internal psychological reconciliation. This research concludes that A Space for the Unbound provides a participatory model for understanding trauma recovery, offering significant contributions to both game studies and psychological literary analysis. These insights provide a foundational framework for further studies exploring the intersection of mental health representation and interactive storytelling in digital media.

Abstract

PAI learning that incorporates democratic values is conscious and planned learning to create active learning that is critical of the surrounding environment, namely the family, school, and community. This article aims to describe the implementation of the internalization of democratic values in the Islamic Religious Education learning process in class XI IPA IV at SMA Negeri 3 Jombang. This research is descriptive and qualitative in nature, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique uses the stages of reduction, data display, and data verification. The research aims to provide as accurate a picture as possible of the internalization of democratic values in the learning process and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors (constraints) in the learning process. The results of the research and analysis of the research data show that the internalization of democratic values in the PAI learning process can be realized through teachers becoming role models for students, socializing democratic values, schools supporting, assisting, and facilitating students, being fair, building emotional bonds between students to create good social values, providing a sense of comfort, involving students, teachers' abilities in their respective fields, facilities and infrastructure, family support, school culture, limited learning time that is not in line with the large amount of material, the indirect influence of social media on children's personalities, and a lack of motivation to learn among students.
