Abstract

Mastery of English requires a lot of vocabulary and adequate grammatical forms. A large vocabulary without being based on strong grammar makes it impossible for us to properly understand a reading and vice versa, good grammar without having a vocabulary. To simplify and overcome this, it is necessary to use the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model and learning media, Problem In this study, the method used was the Pre-Experimental Design method with the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design research design, where in this design a causal relationship will be revealed by viewing one group of subjects. The data analysis used in this study used descriptive statistics. and inferential statistics. Analysis of data on test results for students' vocabulary comprehension abilities was carried out quantitatively. The statistical test used in this study is the inferential test of the independent t test. Daa analysis using SPSS version 24. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of the use of picture story books on the speaking ability and English vocabulary of junior high school students. These results indicate that junior high school students who are taught with picture story books as a medium have an increased speaking ability using English vocabulary compared to before learning.

Abstract

Pembiasaan-pembiasaan secara islami meliputi membaca Al-qur’an dan sholat dhuha merupakan keberimanan seseorang yang diukur secara akhlaki. Indikasi bahwa akhlak bisa dipelajari dengan metode pembiasaan, pembiasaan secara terus menerus akhirnya mendapakan akhlak yang hasanah. Diberbagai sekolah dasar yang ada disekitar kita, termasuk yang menerapkan progam membiasakan membaca Al-Qur’an sehingga peserta didik sangat antusias sekali dalam mengikuti progam tersebut. Dari pembahasan ini dapat disimpulkan: 1) Pembiasaan Shalat Dhuha dan membaca al qur’an dilaksanakan setiap hari sebelum proses pembelajaran agar memunculkan aklak islami. 2) Shalat Dhuha dan membaca al qur’an dilaksanakan berjamaah di kelas masing-masing dengan imam yang sudah terjadwal. 3) Kebiasaan melaksanakan shalat dhuha dan membaca al qur’an sebelum kegiatan belajar mengajar merupakan upaya mewujudkan fondasi anak shaleh dan unggul.

Abstract

Pasca pandemi akhlak siswa menurun, hal ini dikarenakan kurangnya pertemuan tatap muka antara guru dengan murid. Saat new normal SDN Blimbing mengerakkan kegiatan pelaksanaan shalat dhuha berjama’ah dan membaca al-Qur’an yang dilakukan untuk mengembangkan karakter keimanan peserta didik dan kesadaran untuk beribadah. Pembiasaan-pembiasaan secara islami meliputi sholat dhuha dan membaca Al-qur’an merupakan keberimanan seseorang yang diukur secara akhlaki. Indikasi bahwa akhlak bisa dipelajari dengan metode pembiasaan, pembiasaan secara terus menerus akhirnya mendapakan akhlak yang hasanah. Diberbagai sekolah dasar yang ada disekitar kita, termasuk yang menerapkan progam membiasakan Sholat dhuha dan membaca Al-Qur’an sehingga peserta didik sangat antusias sekali dalam mengikuti progam tersebut. Adapun akhlak yang muncul dari pembiasaan tersebut menjadikan anak lebih disiplin artian disiplin waktu dan tempat, tanggung jawab, dan religius. Dari pembahasan ini dapat disimpulkan: 1) Pembiasaan Shalat Dhuha dan membaca al qur’an dilaksanakan setiap hari sebelum proses pembelajaran agar memunculkan peningkatan akhlak. 2) Shalat Dhuha dan membaca al qur’an dilaksanakan berjamaah di musholla dengan imam yang sudah terjadwal. 3) Kebiasaan melaksanakan shalat dhuha dan membaca al qur’an sebelum kegiatan belajar mengajar merupakan upaya mewujudkan fondasi anak shaleh dan unggul.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the deep meaning contained in Lampung proverbs and how these proverbs function as valuable guides in everyday life. Lampung proverbs not only contain local wisdom but also reflect cultural values ​​that can provide inspiration and guidance for the community. This article details an in-depth study of a number of selected Lampung proverbs, highlighting local wisdom that continues to be relevant and valuable in shaping the character and values ​​of society. More than that, this article also explores how Lampung proverbs are not just words of wisdom, but also have transformative power that can shape people's perspectives and attitudes towards life. By presenting an in-depth analysis, it is hoped that this article can provide richer insight and deepen readers' understanding of local wisdom in the context of Lampung proverbs. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggali makna mendalam yang terkandung dalam peribahasa Lampung dan bagaimana peribahasa tersebut berfungsi sebagai panduan berharga dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Peribahasa Lampung tidak hanya mengandung kebijaksanaan lokal namun juga mencerminkan nilai-nilai budaya yang dapat memberikan inspirasi dan panduan bagi masyarakat. Artikel ini merinci kajian mendalam terhadap sejumlah peribahasa Lampung yang dipilih, menyoroti kearifan lokal yang terus relevan dan bernilai dalam membentuk karakter dan tata nilai masyarakat. Lebih dari itu, artikel ini juga mengeksplorasi bagaimana peribahasa Lampung tidak hanya sekadar kata-kata bijak, melainkan juga memiliki daya transformative yang dapat membentuk perspektif dan sikap hidup masyarakat. Dengan menyajikan analisis mendalam, diharapkan artikel ini dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih kaya dan memperdalam pemahaman pembaca terhadap kearifan lokal dalam konteks peribahasa Lampung.

Abstract

Dinamika zaman modern yang ditandai dengan dikotomi ilmu pengetahuan dan agama menimbulkan krisis multidimensi, termasuk dalam dunia pendidikan. Pendidikan Islam dituntut untuk merespons hal ini dengan menawarkan paradigma integratif. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep integrasi ilmu dan agama melalui pendekatan filsafat ilmu dan merelevansikannya dengan ruang lingkup Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan filosofis-analitis. Data dikumpulkan dari literatur primer dan sekunder terkait filsafat ilmu, integrasi ilmu-agama, dan pendidikan Islam, kemudian dianalisis secara kritis untuk membangun argumentasi. Filsafat ilmu, dengan ruang lingkupnya yang membahas ontologi, epistemologi, dan aksiologi, memberikan kerangka teoretis yang kokoh untuk integrasi. Ontologi integratif melihat realitas sebagai kesatuan yang bersumber dari Allah SWT (Tauhid). Epistemologi integratif menyatukan wahyu, akal, dan indera sebagai sumber ilmu yang sahih. Aksiologi integratif menempatkan ilmu sebagai sarana untuk mendekatkan diri kepada Allah dan memakmurkan bumi (khalifah). Dalam perspektif Pendidikan Islam, integrasi ini diwujudkan dalam bentuk kurikulum yang menyatukan ilmu-ilmu naqliyah dan aqliyah, serta pendekatan pembelajaran yang menekankan pada penanaman nilai. Integrasi ilmu dan agama bukan hanya mungkin, tetapi merupakan suatu keniscayaan dalam bangunan Pendidikan Islam. Filsafat ilmu berperan sebagai pisau bedah yang mengonstruksi landasan ontologis, epistemologis, dan aksiologis bagi terwujudnya pendidikan yang holistik dan bermakna, yang melahirkan insan ulul albab yang utuh.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital menghadirkan berbagai perubahan perilaku pada remaja. Salah satu dampak yang kurang mendapat perhatian adalah meningkatnya tingkat kegabutan (boredom) yang dapat memengaruhi kondisi emosional, motivasi akademik, dan capaian belajar. Lingkungan pesantren sebagai boarding school memiliki aturan ketat dan rutinitas padat yang dapat menjadi faktor protektif sekaligus risiko munculnya kegabutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tingkat kegabutan siswa Pesantren Muhammadiyah Boarding School Darul Arqom Simalungun, pola penggunaan teknologi, hubungan keduanya, serta faktor-faktor lain yang memengaruhi kegabutan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain survei korelasional. Instrumen penelitian meliputi Skala Kegabutan dan Kuesioner Penggunaan Teknologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya tingkat kegabutan kategori sedang–tinggi, dominasi penggunaan teknologi untuk hiburan, dan hubungan positif signifikan antara intensitas penggunaan teknologi dan tingkat kegabutan. Analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa faktor minat belajar, regulasi pesantren, dan dukungan sosial turut memengaruhi tingkat kegabutan. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi pembinaan pesantren serta memperkuat konsep Statistik Pendidikan dalam memahami fenomena psikologis siswa.

Abstract

Having been colonized by Britain, Ireland was in a very deprived condition for a very long period, especially for poor Catholic Irish. Britain had destroyed Irish civil rights by forcing them in a massive potato plantation merely to fulfill British people’s need for food, which caused the Irish in a great famine and poverty. Written by an Irish playwright in 1980, which is set in agricultural land, northern side of Ireland, Brian Friel’s Translations illustrates clearly the suffering of Irish villagers in 19th century. By applying Homi K. Bhabha’s post-colonialism theory, the dialogues from the play are analyzed to explain Irish cultural identity conflict. This play is analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative method. The result of analysis reflects the mimicry concept from Bhabha, in which it shows an ambition that Irish tradition must be vanished and replaced by British tradition. The dialogues in Brian Friel’s Translation describe that Irish language and tradition which tells a lot of Greek mythology must be replaced with the culture of Standard English language. The translations on Irish local place names into English language are forced for the sake of British imperialism importance in the Ordnance survey.

Abstract

This study investigates how digital storybooks can help high school English classes in the tenth grade become more gender aware. Few research have looked at how secondary school students react critically to gender narratives, despite the fact that many earlier studies have looked at gender bias in children's novels and textbooks. Eight students engaged with the digital storybook Too Young to Marry. Through focus groups, role-reversal exercises, and guided reading using a qualitative case study design. To find out how students felt about gender equality and representation, data were subjected to thematic analysis. The findings showed that pupils could recognize both gender stereotypes—like girls being coerced into child marriage—and counter-stereotypes—like male characters who defy patriarchal expectations. Students' opinions on equality, especially with regard to education as a right for both sexes, were impacted by reading and debating the storybook. Additionally, by encouraging empathy and critical thinking, the role-reversal exercises helped students question cultural norms and envision more just alternatives. According to the study's findings, digital storybooks can be an effective means of fostering literacy development, advancing gender equality in secondary education, and fusing language acquisition with social consciousness.

Abstract

Dystopian literature offers readers a portrayal of a bleak world where society functions under the rulers’ abuse. Emerging in the 20th century as a response to world events such as the First World War, dystopian literature emphasizes the supremacy of hostile social forces. Society is responsible for degrading its system and quality of living, as instigated by the government, technology, and commercialization. Those in power abuse their authority through various outlets to justify maintaining law and order. What is depicted in the dystopian literature somewhat represents the factual events happening globally, where governments worldwide abuse their power against their citizens. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method because this method was used to analyse the abuse of power by the authority and other characters in three dystopian novels, The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Matched. The primary data is in the form of narratives and conversations between the characters, containing the abuse of power in those novels. Literary data collection was used to collect relevant data from the novels. Data analysis uses content and narrative analyses, including data compression and interpretation. Furthermore, the abuse of power is practiced by the government and other characters who hold positions of power. This article explores the practice of power abuse in three dystopian novels, exercised by both the former and the latter, to others in misguided attempts to sustain the status quo or any abhorrent values and beliefs.

Abstract

This study explores how ecolinguistics and futurology can be integrated into English language learning through a contextual and culturally responsive approach. The focus of this study is the Foreign Language Development Programme (FLDP) at UIN Madura, specifically the English language module that discusses traditional herbal medicine as an important part of the traditional knowledge of the Madurese community. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data was collected through content analysis and interviews with lecturers and students. The results of the study indicate that the integration of ecolinguistic content can improve vocabulary mastery, foster environmental awareness, and strengthen students' cultural identity. Learning materials that highlight local ecological knowledge encourage critical thinking skills, cultural pride, and active student participation. Despite challenges in implementation, such as the need for more local materials and training for lecturers or tutors, ecolinguistic-based English language learning has proven to be an effective pedagogical strategy in creating sustainable education rooted in local culture. Through an ecological approach, it demonstrates that students are not only language learners but also environmentally conscious global citizens proud of their culture.
