Abstract

Parents play an important role in their children's sexual health education. The purpose of this study was to examine the materials or topics that parentsconvey when providing sexual health education to their children. The study design was an integrative review using the PRISMA flow diagram withthe CoCoPop framework. The databases used were Cochrane, Scopus, and EBSCO Medline. The inclusion criteria for articles were: abstract andfull text, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed- method research journal articles, English language, published between 2020 and 2024, and a population of parents with children aged 0 to 18 years. The JBI tool was used to evaluate the articles. The results of the study found nine articles, including three quantitative articles, four qualitative articles, and two mixed-method articles. The conclusion of this integrative review is that eachparent conveys different topics or materials, depending on the knowledge, abilities, and stigma of the parents and children regarding sex education. The materials most frequently discussed by parents were puberty, safe touching, unsafe pregnancy and abortion, premarital sex, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive anatomy, and protection from sexual violence. The recommendation from this study is that there is a need for clear guidelines on age- appropriate sexual health education that can be used by parents from various backgrounds.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DMT2) is associated with several complications, including Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) has been recognized as an early marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, reflecting vascular changes in DMT2 patients. The relationship between disease duration and glycemic control with CIMT in PAD patients is still not fully understood, especially in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 40 DMT2 patients diagnosed with PAD. CIMT was measured using high-resolution Doppler ultrasound. Glycemic control was assessed based on HbA1c levels, with patients categorized based on a threshold of 7%. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression. A significant relationship was found between DMT2 duration and glycemic control with CIMT thickness (p<0.05). Patients with a disease duration of more than 2 years have a higher chance of experiencing an increase in CIMT. Similarly, poor glycemic control (HbA1c ≥7%) is strongly associated with an increase in CIMT. Long-term DMT2 and poor glycemic control are major contributors to increased CIMT, reflecting a greater burden of atherosclerosis in PAD patients.  Early intervention and optimal glycemic control are essential in preventing cardiovascular complications in this population

Abstract

Pilot errors accounts for 80% of accidents and 50% of serious incidents, thus identifying the risk factors is crucial to mitigation strategies. The research aimed to develop a model of pilot errors’ risk factors identification and mitigation by conducting a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with stakeholders in Indonesia. This was a qualitative analysis by conducting hybrid FGD, divided into four groups of experts consisted of officials from the Directorate General Civil Aviation, human factors experts, active pilots and investigators from the National Transport Safety Committee, from 28 to 29 August 2024. The data was collected by transcribing verbatim transcript, then analysed using the Steps for Coding and Theorization and Content Validity Index. model was developed, consisted of pilots’ risk factors, divided into three themes, 16 sub-themes, grouped into internal and external factors, which can be identified by four activities and can be mitigated by three activities. The factors contributed to aviation safety are multifactorial and interrelated. The complexity of pilots’ risk factors involves a continuous assessment of identification and mitigation, emphasizes the adaptive collaboration among stakeholders. A significant contribution in aviation human factors data for the Safety Management System implementation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Osteonecrosis, or avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head, is a progressive and irreversible bone pathological condition with an increasing amount of morbidity each year in Indonesia. Testing therapeutic strategies requires an ethical and reliable protocol for inducing femoral head AVN in animal models. This study evaluates a rabbit protocol's feasibility to support a larger investigation into secretome-based treatments. Methods: In this in vivo study, New Zealand white rabbits were divided into three test groups and one control group (n = 3 per group). Methylprednisolone was injected three times at 24-hour intervals, with lipopolysaccharide administered to the third test group on day four. Following a four-week observation period, effects were evaluated using histology, immunohistochemistry, lipid profiles, and radiology. Results: The results showed that both a dose of 20 mg/kgBW methylprednisolone plus 10 μg/kgBW lipopolysaccharide and 20 mg/kgBW methylprednisolone alone resulted in statistically significant femoral head AVN induction, characterized by an increase number of osteoclasts on caspase-3 staining and empty lacunae on hematoxylin–eosin staining. Conversely, the test group with a lower concentration did not show significant differences. Conclusion: These findings support the recommendation of a credible and promising animal model of femoral head osteonecrosis as a basis for the study of osteocytes, osteoblasts, and osteoclast regeneration, along with secretome therapy, which acts as a potential non-surgical treatment option. The absence of radiological confirmation limits a more established analysis, and further studies on this matter are needed.

Abstract

Objectives: This study examined the association between sexual debut and HPV infection in Indonesian women with a clinically normal cervix, contextualized within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Methods: This prospective cohort study utilized primary data from structured interviews and gynecological exams conducted by the Female Cancer Program (FCP) team across public and private health providers in Jakarta (January 2012–July 2018). Cervical cancer risk factors, including early sexual debut, were analyzed using odds ratios (ORs). Results: A total of 1,390 women with a clinically normal cervix were enrolled in this study, with 52 (3.7%) testing positive for HPV-DNA. Statistical analysis indicated an odds ratio (OR) of 1.176 (95% CI: 0.598–2.316, p = 0.601) for early sexual debut. Conclusion: This study showed that there was an insignificant association between sexual debut and HPV infection in clinically normal cervix. According to the SDGs, early sexual debut and cervical cancer are highly associated. In order to meet the SDGs by 2030, more research is required to validate this finding and assess additional co-factors connected to cervical cancer.
