Abstract

Problems that often occur in schools are the use of learning media. Moreover, learning media can make students feel happy. So that the desired abilities can be achieved, such as science literacy. Science literacy is an ability that needs to be improved starting from elementary school. This aims to make students able to later compete in the community environment. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. This method can be the first step to describe or analyze the problems that occur in the field and will later be developed further. The sources obtained in this study came from interviews with teachers and questionnaires on the favourability of using learning media for students. The result is that students like learning that involves them in learning, coupled with using media that can be seen and heard such as YouTube or multimedia learning. However, many teachers still have difficulty in applying interactive media. The use of flipbooks can be a solution for teachers, considering that teachers have many learning accounts that have access to the use of applications to create flipbooks, such as CanvaPro. This flipbook-based learning media itself is able to make students think creatively and improve science literacy by combining project-based learning (PJBL).

Abstract

This study aims to identify the teaching techniques used by teachers in developing students' speaking skills and to describe the implementation stages, including pre-implementation, execution, and reflection. The study involved 28 fourth-grade elementary school students in the context of Indonesian language learning. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis to capture the dynamics of classroom interaction. The findings reveal that the Small Group Discussion technique, when integrated with Gallery Walk activities, effectively enhances students’ speaking skills by providing structured opportunities to discuss, express ideas, and respond to peers’ work. In addition, this combination creates a more participatory and interactive learning environment, allowing students to gradually build confidence in speaking. Therefore, the integration of Small Group Discussion and Gallery Walk can serve as a practical and effective teaching technique to support the development of speaking skills in elementary education.

Abstract

This article describes the effect of the ASI (Auditory Visual Self Improvement) model through YouTube digital visualization media to improve students’ poetry reading skills in elementary schools. This research is a classroom action research method, which consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of research in each cycle indicate an improvement. Classically, students were declared to have completed 100% of learning in cycle II, because all students in reading poetry achieved 80 or above. This learning completeness is above the KKM target of 80%. Based on these proportions, the criteria for qualitative data assessment are classified as "very good". It shows that ASI (Auditory Visual Self Improvement) learning model assisted by digital visualization media in general can be used as alternative learning to improve students’ poetry reading skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

This article analyzes the influence of mind mapping in improving sixth-grade elementary school students’ descriptive writing ability. The type of research is qualitative research with a problem-solving research design. Problem-solving is an approach that indicates the data in the form of words or statements obtained through interviews, documentation, observations, and so on. Classroom action research is conducted to solve problems in learning in the classroom or to improve learning quality. The research subjects involved 24 students of class VI at SDN Blimbing 2. The test results before implementing the class research action indicate that the average value is 54. In cycle I, the average value is 68.7with a completeness percentage of 42%. It shows that between the pretest and cycle 1 there is an increasing value of 14.7. In cycle 2, the average value increases to 75.2 with a completeness percentage of 100%. The observation results of students’ activity in cycle 1 achieve 71% while in cycle 2 it achieves 81%, which means that there is an increasing percentage of 10%. The observation results teacher’s teaching management in cycle 1 achieves a percentage of 73% and in cycle 2 it achieves a percentage of 87%, which means that there is an increasing percentage of 15%. Thus, the data analysis of students’ writing descriptive essays through mind mapping from the pretest, cycle 1 to cycle 2 has achieved an average score target.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading literacy skills of elementary school students through the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) integrated with the local wisdom of the Dayak Belusu community. Reading literacy in this research is defined as the ability to understand, interpret, and reflect on written texts at literal, inferential, and summarizing levels. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The participants were fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 014 Tana Tidung, North Kalimantan. Data were collected through observation sheets, reading literacy tests, and teacher interviews, and analyzed using quantitative descriptive and qualitative techniques. The results of Cycle I showed that students’ reading literacy was still dominated by literal comprehension and that their participation in discussions was relatively low. After revising the learning strategy in Cycle II, student participation exceeded 80% on most indicators, and the average literacy test score increased from 58 to 76. Teacher interviews confirmed positive changes in cognitive, affective, and attitudinal aspects, including confidence, discipline, and cooperation. These findings indicate that CTL integrated with Dayak Belusu local wisdom effectively enhances reading literacy while strengthening cultural identity and positive character.

Abstract

Elementary science learning requires instructional approaches that enable students to connect scientific concepts with authentic experiences that are meaningful within their own cultural and environmental contexts. However, science instruction in many elementary classrooms remains predominantly teacher-centered, limiting students’ conceptual understanding and meaningful engagement with science. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) integrated with local wisdom and direct instruction in improving elementary students’ science learning achievement. A quasi-experimental study employing a posttest-only control group design was conducted with 60 fifth-grade students from SDN 020 Tana Tidung, Indonesia. The experimental group received CTL integrated with local wisdom, whereas the control group was taught using direct instruction. Students’ science learning achievement was measured using a 25-item multiple-choice test that demonstrated satisfactory content validity (Aiken’s V = 0.83) and internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.87). Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test following normality and homogeneity assumption testing. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean posttest score (82.00) than the control group (74.50), and the difference was statistically significant (p < .05). These findings indicate that integrating local wisdom into CTL provides a more meaningful learning environment by connecting scientific concepts with students’ everyday cultural and environmental experiences. This study contributes to the growing evidence supporting culturally responsive science education and suggests that integrating local wisdom into contextual learning can enhance elementary students’ science achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted with the aim of testing effectiveness using the role playing learning model on increasing the social interaction of 4th graders at SDN Bumiayu 2 Malang. This study uses a pre-experimental design method with a quantitative approach. The results of the calculation of the paired sample test show a significance value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05. So that it can be interpreted that there is a significant difference between the results of the pretest and posttest, in other words the use of role playing models has an effect on increasing students' social interactions. The level of effectiveness of the use of the role playing model is included in the medium category based on the results of the N-Gain test with an average gain score of 0.6. Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menguji efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran role playing terhadap peningkatan interaksi sosial siswa kelas 4 SDN Bumiayu 2 Malang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pre-experimental design dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Hasil dari penghitungan uji paired sample test yang menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 yang bernilai kurang dari 0,05. Sehingga dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil dari pretest dan posttest, dengan kata lain penggunaan model role playing berpengaruh dalam peningkatan interaksi sosial siswa. Tingkat efektivitas dari penggunaan model role playing termasuk dalam kategori sedang berdasarkan hasil uji N-Gain dengan rata-rata gain score sebesar 0,6.

Abstract

Keterampilan guru dalam merancang penelitian tindakan kelas merupakan bagian penting dari pengembangan profesional berkelanjutan karena guru perlu mengambil keputusan pembelajaran berdasarkan masalah kelas, data, dan refleksi sistematis. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memperkuat kreativitas profesional guru sekolah dasar dalam merancang karya tulis ilmiah berbasis action research, khususnya penelitian tindakan kelas, di SDN Purwantoro 1 Kota Malang. Kreativitas profesional dalam kegiatan ini dipahami sebagai kemampuan guru merefleksikan masalah pembelajaran, memilih tindakan yang relevan, menyusun rencana aksi, dan mengembangkan rancangan PTK secara sistematis. Program dilaksanakan melalui workshop dan pendampingan dengan pendekatan andragogi yang mencakup pengenalan konsep dasar PTK, prosedur pelaksanaan, penyusunan proposal, praktik analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif, penulisan laporan, serta refleksi bersama. Evaluasi keberhasilan dilakukan menggunakan desain satu kelompok pretest-posttest terhadap 24 guru, disertai observasi proses, dokumentasi, dan refleksi peserta. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan rerata skor meningkat dari 48,58 pada pretest menjadi 68,88 pada posttest. Data pretest dan posttest berdistribusi normal, homogen, dan hasil uji t berpasangan menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan (t = -30,337; p < 0,001). Temuan ini menunjukkan hasil positif bahwa pendampingan berbasis pengalaman kelas, diskusi kolaboratif, dan praktik penyusunan proposal dapat memperkuat pemahaman serta kesiapan guru dalam mengembangkan karya tulis ilmiah berbasis PTK. Program ini berkontribusi pada penguatan profesionalisme guru dan peningkatan budaya reflektif di sekolah dasar. Improving Elementary School Teachers’ Creativity in Designing Action Research-Based Scientific Writing in Malang City Abstract Teachers’ ability to design classroom action research is an essential component of continuous professional development because instructional decisions need to be grounded in classroom problems, data, and systematic reflection. This community service program aimed to strengthen elementary school teachers’ professional creativity in designing action research-based scientific writing, particularly classroom action research, at SDN Purwantoro 1 Malang City. In this program, professional creativity refers to teachers’ ability to reflect on instructional problems, select relevant actions, develop action plans, and design classroom action research systematically. The program was implemented through a workshop and mentoring using an andragogical approach, covering the basic concepts of classroom action research, procedural design, proposal development, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, report writing, and collaborative reflection. Program outcomes were evaluated using a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 24 teachers, supported by process observation, documentation, and participant reflection. The evaluation showed that the mean score increased from 48.58 in the pretest to 68.88 in the posttest. The pretest and posttest data were normally distributed and homogeneous, and the paired-samples t-test indicated a significant difference between the two scores (t = -30.337; p < 0.001). These findings indicate positive outcomes suggesting that classroom experience-based mentoring, collaborative discussion, and proposal writing practice can strengthen teachers’ understanding and readiness to develop classroom action research-based scientific writing. The program contributes to teacher professionalism and the development of a reflective culture in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Genially Web-based Gamification learning media within the framework of Joyful Learning to improve elementary school students' literacy and numeracy learning outcomes. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Lee & Owens model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Validation was carried out by subject matter experts and media experts, while practicality was tested by teachers and students. Effectiveness was tested through a one-group pretest and post-test design. The results showed that the Genially-based learning media obtained a highly valid rating from subject matter experts (88.33%) and media experts (82.5%). The practicality test received a very good response from teachers (90%) and students (97.39%). In addition, students’ learning outcomes in both literacy and numeracy domains showed a significant improvement. The average literacy score increased from 68.12 (pretest) to 88.74 (post-test), while the numeracy score increased from 66.22 to 89.38, resulting in an overall average N-Gain of 0.667 (medium–high category). These findings confirm that the integration of gamification through Web Genially creates a fun, interactive, and effective learning experience that simultaneously strengthens literacy comprehension and numeracy problem-solving skills among elementary school students.

Abstract

  The development of a learning model based on the SIPETA information system (Information System for Aesthetic Assessment and Artistic Engineering) was carried out to answer the need for objective and reflective academic supervision in arts and culture education, especially in the Teacher Professional Program (PPG). The main goal of this study is to present a digital system that is able to systematically record and analyze the progress of students' artworks and techniques as a basis for decision-making in curriculum development. The method used is a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE model which focuses on the initial three stages: analysis, design, and development. Data were collected through interviews with lecturers, studio class observations, and literature reviews and portfolios of student work. The results of the analysis show that conventional assessments are still subjective and poorly documented. The SIPETA system is designed with excellent features such as uploading digital works, technical-aesthetic assessment rubrics, progress timelines, visual feedback, and evaluation dashboards. Validation shows that this system is feasible to use in the context of learning art practice. The results of the development show that SIPETA is able to significantly improve the quality of students' academic evaluation and reflection. In conclusion, the SIPETA learning model has the potential to be a data-based curriculum supervision tool, strengthen academic transparency, and encourage digital transformation in adaptive and sustainable arts education.
