Abstract

Phosphorus (P) is an essential element for oil palm growth and development. Acid phosphatase (Apase) and Pti‐interacting serine/threonine kinase are two enzymes which enzymes confirmed to be related to P‐uptake in oil palm, therefore their activities in oil palm treated with P‐limitation need to be quantified. Acid phosphatase is believed to be induced by P‐deprivation. Conversely, the Pto‐interaction (Pti) serine/threonine kinase activity is associated with abiotic stress. The aim of this study was to quantify of activities of two selected enzymes and phytohormone content in oil palm‐clones in the P‐limitation condition. Two oil palms genotypes were treated with three P dosages i.e. 0% (v/v), 4.67% (v/v), and 14.02% (v/v) represented as starvation, deficiency, and optimum condition, respectively. The activity of these two enzymes was quantified in mitochondria and cytoplasm using spectrophotometry and modified dot‐blot methods, while abscisic acid, indole acetic acid and gibberellic acid content was quantified using ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC). The result showed that the Apase activity in P‐optimum was higher than starvation and deficiency in leaf and root tissues in both genotypes, whereas Pti serine/threonine kinase activity was higher in prolific than non‐prolific genotypes in P‐deficient dosage. Furthermore, abscisic acid content was higher in prolific than non‐prolific genotypes in starvation and deficient, whereas other hormone contents were similar. Association study showed that prolific was separated with non‐prolific ones at different doses of P. Finally, the prolific genotype is more adaptable with P deficiency.

Abstract

Abstract: The Sumber Nyolo Natural Sacred Site (NSS) is an area venerated by the local community and characterized by a distinctive plant community structure resembling a forest landscape. This study aims to analyze the role of the Sacred Natural Site (SNS) in plant conservation and ecosystem services, as well as to examine the cultural values of the local community associated with its existence. The research employed a plot sampling method, consisting of four plots distributed throughout the area, with plot sizes of 20 × 20 m for tree-level vegetation, 10 × 10 m for poles, 5 × 5 m for saplings, and 2 × 2 m for seedlings. Data were analyzed descriptively using the Importance Value Index (IVI), Shannon–Wiener diversity index (H’), Evenness index (E), Simpson’s dominance index (C), and endemism (End). A total of 53 plant species belonging to 26 families were recorded in the NSS. At the tree and sapling levels, Syzygium pycnanthum was the dominant species with the highest IVI values. At the pole level, co-dominance occurred among Bambusa blumeana, Dendrocalamus asper, and Syzygium littorale, while Syzygium littorale was dominant at the seedling level with the highest IVI value compared to other species. The plant community in the NSS is categorized as stable, as indicated by H’ values of 3.43 (trees), 3.17 (poles), 4.45 (saplings), and 2.23 (seedlings). Species distribution was relatively even, with E’ values of 0.60 (trees), 0.49 (poles), 0.74 (saplings), and 0.34 (seedlings). Moreover, the absence of a dominant species was indicated by C values approaching zero. Most of the recorded plants were local species with a high endemism rate of 94%. Vegetation in the NSS provides various ecological services, including regulating, provisioning, and supporting services. In addition, the NSS functions as a socio-cultural center for the local community, serving as the venue for traditional events such as the Bersih Desa ceremony.

Abstract

his article presents an in-depth argument regarding implementing Ibn Rushd's philosophical thought as a systematic and authentic intellectual framework to address the challenge of aligning the classical Islamic scientific heritage with the times' demands prioritizing rationality, science, and critical thinking. Ibn Rushd's philosophy, which is fundamentally centered on the thesis of absolute harmonization and the unity of truth between reason (burhan) and revelation (sharia), offers a solid epistemological and theological foundation for the holistic integration of general and religious sciences. This research method is a content analysis of authoritative secondary sources on Ibn Rushd's thought relevant to the philosophy of education. This article outlines four pillars of implementation in detail. First, the design of an integrated curriculum based on the principle of the unity of truth rejects the dichotomy of knowledge. It utilizes the method of allegorical interpretation (ta'wil) in a controlled manner for experts. Second, the application of differentiated pedagogy inspired by the classification of three levels of human ability (rhetorical, dialectical, and demonstrative) allows for the maximum and progressive development of the potential of each student. Third, ethics education should be strengthened through an imaginative-narrative approach to form what is analogous to the "essential minimum of character" (Minima Naturalia), a concept of irreducible moral integrity. Fourth, the conceptualization of kiai leadership as a "Philosopher-King" figure who combines intellectual depth, moral nobility, and active social involvement.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a manufacturing company producing cosmetic products, including 180 ml lotion packaged in tubes. Production data from January to July 2024 indicate an average defect rate of 0.82%, exceeding the company’s maximum tolerance limit of 0.8%. This study aims to evaluate process performance using the sigma level, identify the root causes of packaging defects, and propose effective quality improvement measures. The research employs the Six Sigma methodology integrated with Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) through the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) framework. The results identify four dominant defect types: unsealed sealing, damaged caps, damaged batches, and dented containers. The initial process performance shows an average sigma level of 3.27, indicating suboptimal quality conditions. FMEA results reveal that the primary causes of defects are worn machine components, imprecise dosing and sealing mechanisms, and the absence of standardized work instructions. Improvement actions include replacing critical machine components, optimizing machine parameters, implementing bulk material viscosity control, and installing a leakage tester. Post-implementation evaluation demonstrates a significant improvement in quality performance, with the sigma level increasing to 4.30 and the average defect rate decreasing by 96.65%. These findings confirm that the integration of Six Sigma and FMEA is effective in reducing packaging defects and enhancing process stability in cosmetic manufacturing.

Abstract

Abstract

This research seeks to examine the Islamic education system during the Abbasid Dynasty and explore the applicability of its values to modern Islamic education. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a historical-critical perspective, the study relies on library research, examining secondary sources such as books on Islamic civilization, academic articles, and contemporary studies on Islamic education. The analysis was carried out descriptively and critically through processes of data reduction, thematic organization, and contextual interpretation. Results reveal that Abbasid education was marked by the integration of religious and rational knowledge, supported by strong educational institutions, a rich culture of literacy and scholarship, ethically grounded academic freedom, and a focus on moral and spiritual development. These values remain relevant in addressing present-day challenges in Islamic education, such as the divide between fields of knowledge, limited research culture, and issues of character development. The study offers a framework for reconstructing Abbasid educational principles that is integrative, context-sensitive, and practically applicable to contemporary educational settings.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as abstract and disconnected from everyday life, causing students to struggle with topics requiring symbolic representation, such as matrices. This situation indicates the need for learning approaches that connect formal concepts with real experiences, highlighting the urgency to address students’ limited ability to link symbolic representations with real contexts. This study aims to describe the process and results of exploring the school environment as a source of mathematical representation for matrix topics through an ethnomathematics approach. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Participants included one mathematics teacher and two 11th-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Tengaran. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation; instruments consisted of observation sheets, interview guides, and student worksheets (LKPD). Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model with technique and source triangulation to enhance credibility. The results indicate that environmental exploration helped students identify real-world patterns representable as matrices, such as flowerpot arrangements, floor patterns, and school artwork. The findings also show contributions to mathematical literacy and the Pancasila Student Profile dimensions particularly critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. The novelty of this study lies in integrating ethnomathematics into algebra topics (matrix concepts), which are rarely examined, and utilizing a modern school environment as a local context. Implications for teaching include replicating exploration steps such as field observation, pattern recording, and matrix representation to support routine lessons or other topics requiring connections between real objects and mathematical structures.
