Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of papaya tree trunk substitution (Carica papaya) as roughage on the quality of FH cow milk in Boyolali. This study used 16 lactating FH cows with an average body weight of 431.75 + 50.99 kg (CV = 11.82%) and an average milk production per day of 11.12 + 0.96 liters (CV = 8.61%). The average production period of cows is the 2nd lactation period, 2nd to 5th months. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and four replications; feed treatments in dry matter were T0: 30% concentrate, 10% tofu dregs, 60% elephant grass, T1: 30% concentrate, 10% tofu dregs, 40% elephant grass, 20% papaya stems, T2: 30% concentrate, 10% tofu dregs, 20% elephant grass, 40% papaya stems, T3: 30% concentrate, 10% tofu dregs, 0% elephant grass, 60% papaya stems. Parameters of milk quality aspects include milk specific gravity, protein content, fat content, lactose, solid non-fat and total solid. This study showed differences in fat content and total solids between T0, T1, T2 and T3, but there was no treatment effect on milk production, Specific gravity, protein content, lactose and SNF milk. This study concludes that using papaya tree trunks as a substitute for fresh greens can maintain the milk productivity of FH cows. Giving 40% papaya tree trunks combined with 20% elephant grass as a roughage produces the same milk production as providing 60% elephant grass.

Abstract

Broiler chickens are purebred chickens that have the ability to grow and develop quickly and produce meat in a short time (1-2 months) if kept intensively. Broiler chickens have a very important role as a source of animal protein derived from livestock. This study aims to determine how much influence the use of maggot flour in the ration has on the performance of broilers in the finisher phase after giving various levels of maggot in the starter phase. The material used in the study was broiler chickens aged 1-25 days using the Superchik Strain as many as 40 chickens sourced from each treatment and each replication as many as 2 tails. In this study, the feed ingredients used were commercial feed and maggot flour purchased from maggot breeders. The equipment used in the study was a cage made of husks that had been sanitized and equipped with a feeder, drinking container, gasloec, buckets, digital scales, plastic curtains, measuring cups, thermometers, and stationery. Using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments, 5 replications for each replication of 2 tails. The results showed that the use of maggot level in the starter phase had a significant effect (P>0.05) on ration consumption (208.85a (T0); 185.32b (T1); 204.60ab (T2); 209.40a (T3). ) and had no significant effect (P<0.05) on body weight gain (907.1 (T0); 858.978 (T1); 895.3 (T2); 878.44)), feed conversion ratio (2.774 (T0) 2,627 (T1); 2,726(T2); 2,779(T3)), and drinking water consumption (442.13 (T0); 437.6 (T1); 453.87 (T2); 469.33 (T3)) . The ration consumption in treatment T0 was not significantly different from treatment T3 and treatment at T2. But the T2 treatment was not significantly different from the T1 treatment.

Abstract

Sausage is a product made from minced meat and then mashed and seasoned, put in artificial packaging, with or without cooking.) due to both oxidative and microbiological damage. Chicken feet are a by-product of chicken slaughterhouses (RPA) whose use is limited because they contain a lot of bones and a little meat, but have a high skin content. The chicken leg consists of several parts such as bone, skin, muscle and collagen. Chicken claw contains collagen of 22.94%. In this study there were 7 stages, namely making gelatin, making kaffir lime oil, making samples, dividing samples, organoleptic tests, hedonic tests, and data analysis. The results of this test indicate that beef sausages coated with edible film with the addition of kaffir lime leaf extract are declared fit for consumption. Because this value is still below the total microbial standard according to SNI (1x106 CFU/g), so beef sausage is still suitable for consumption.

Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) which attacks cattle (ruminants) in several regions in Indonesia, especially Boyolali, will directly impact the production, distribution, trade processes and affect the socio-economic activities of the community. Boyolali as a milk production center which has major livestock potential is also affected by this condition, especially smallholder dairy farmers, namely small farmers with a population of under 10 heads. This condition is very vulnerable to their socio-economic conditions. This research aims to determine the effect of the FMD outbreak on milk production and economic income at the smallholder farmer level. The results of this research can then be used as a basis for efforts to handle the outbreak, appropriate and measurable recovery efforts to maintain the economic resilience of smallholder dairy farmers in Boyolali to avoid bankruptcy. This research was carried out using a survey method in 6 milk producing sub-districts in the Boyolali region. Sampling was taken using purposive sampling based on ownership of dairy livestock under 10 heads among smallholder farmers. The research results showed that 99% of dairy farmers whose livestock were affected by FMD experienced a decrease in production by an average of 55%. Farmers must increase maintenance expenditures for treatment by an average of 33% of normal production costs. The average income of smallholder dairy farmers has decreased by 75%. Some extreme cases experienced by breeders include livestock deaths and 5% of livestock having to be culled, and breeders switching professions other than farming. The conclusion of this research is that PMK containers reduce the productivity of people's dairy cattle and affect the resilience of people's dairy farming businesses.

Abstract

One of the livestock products that are widely consumed by the public is milk. Processed milk products are preferred by the public compared to fresh milk, one of the causes is the case of lactose intolerance. This research aims to determine the chemical quality of dairy products, namely yoghurt added with carica juice with different concentrations of addition. The method used in this research is an experiment starting from the preparation stage, sample making, laboratory tests, and data analysis. The treatment used was different concentrations of juice addition of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The results showed that the addition of carica juice had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the content of lactose, protein, fat, solid non fat, and density but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on pH and total solid. The findings of this research were that lactose, protein, solid non fat, and density increased with the addition of carica juice concentration in yoghurt. It is inversely proportional to the fat content which decreases with the addition of carica juice concentration. The conclusion of this research is the addition of carica juice of 40% to yoghurt as the optimal addition of other treatments that have high protein content and low fat content.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of rosemary addition on the quality of pasteurized goat milk. The materials used in the study were Peranakan Etawa goat milk, rosemary, water, and sugar. A Completely Randomized Design was used, consisting of four treatments and five replications. The treatments included: P0 = pasteurized milk without rosemary (control), P1 = pasteurized milk with 1.5 g of rosemary in 50 ml solution, P2 = pasteurized milk with 3 g of rosemary in 50 ml solution, and P3 = pasteurized milk with 4.5 g of rosemary in 50 ml solution. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the addition of rosemary significantly affected the organoleptic quality and hedonic test outcomes, which were conducted at the University of Boyolali. Organoleptic testing revealed a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on taste, aroma, and color. The hedonic test also showed a significant effect (P<0.01) on panelists' preference for milk with rosemary addition. The Total Plate Count (TPC) test indicated that rosemary extract significantly (P<0.01) reduced the number of bacteria in pasteurized milk. In conclusion, rosemary addition influenced the organoleptic quality of pasteurized goat milk in terms of taste and aroma, although it had no effect on color. The hedonic test results indicated that rosemary-added milk was less preferred in terms of taste, aroma, and texture, although the aroma was still acceptable to panelists. Furthermore, increasing the concentration of rosemary resulted in a greater reduction in bacterial count in pasteurized milk.
