Abstract

The critical thinking skills (CTS) of students with different academic abilities is still low. Therefore, STEM-based biology learning assisted by virtual lab gizmos can be implemented to improve students' CTS. This study aims to determine whether STEM-based biology learning assisted by virtual lab gizmos can enhance students' CTS with different academic abilities. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population consisted of twelfth-grade science students from SMA Negeri 3 Bantaeng. The sample was selected using simple random sampling, with a total of 60 students divided into two learning groups: XII MIPA 1 and XII MIPA 2. Data collection techniques included a CTS skills test. Data analysis was conducted using two-way analysis of covariance. The results showed STEM-based biology learning asissted by the virtual lab gizmos significantly enhances students' CTS, with a significance value of 0.00 0.05. Additionally, the study reveals that academic abilities also influences students' CTS. Furthermore, there is an interaction effect between STEM-based learning with the virtual lab gizmos and academic abilities on students' CTS. Further post hoc LSD analysis shows that STEM-based biology learning with the virtual lab gizmos is more effective in improving students' CTS across different academic abilities compared to contextual learning without the virtual lab gizmos. These findings suggest that STEM-based biology learning supported by the virtual lab gizmos can serve as an effective teaching strategy to enhance students' CTS, particularly in addressing the challenges of 21st-century education

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to compare the student learning outcomes between two different learning strategies: Practice Rehearsal Pairs (PRP) with Index Card Match (ICM) in the context of Digestive System material. Methodology: This study uses a quasi-experimental approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The population in this study were all students of grade XI of Public High School 1 Muara Enim totaling 5 classes. Sampling was done using simple random sampling technique in two experimental classes. Data collection was done using multiple-choice tests and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Main Findings: The results of the study obtained for both groups through descriptive statistical analysis are that the average biology learning outcomes using the Practice Rehearsal Pairs learning strategy are better than using the Index Card Match learning strategy. The results of the inferential data analysis show that there is a significant difference between the use of the Practice Rehearsal Pairs learning strategy and the Index Card Match learning strategy on the biology learning outcomes of class XI students. Novelty/Originality of this study: This type of research has the potential to provide insight into the relative effectiveness of two different learning approaches in facilitating student understanding and learning outcomes on a particular topic. with the Practice Rehearsal Pairs and Index Card Match approaches likely focusing on learning methods in which students pair up to practice and repeat material together.

Abstract

This service activity is to improve the ability of partners and be able to develop and add expertise to the community, develop community knowledge about the utilization of palmyra waste so that it has use value for the environment, be able to increase income and reduce fertilizer purchases for agriculture and to develop an attitude of cooperation with others. Utilization of Palmyra waste into liquid organic fertilizer to reduce environmental pollution. The long-term benefits of using liquid fertilizer can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Liquid fertilizer is easy to make and the technology is simple. Lontar (Borassus flabellifer) is one of the typical plants in Jeneponto Regency which has many benefits, one of which is that it can be used as organic fertilizer. This service was carried out on farmer groups in Punagaya village, Bangkala sub-district, Jeneponto district, South Sulawesi, totaling 17 people. The results of this training activity showed that all training participants were very enthusiastic and eager to pay attention and listen to the material about the use of palm waste as organic fertilizer and how to make it delivered by the resource team. Based on the results and discussion of the implementation of activities, it can be concluded that several things including partners in this case the farmer group is able to make organic fertilizer from palm waste, and a partner group is formed that is economically and socially independent through this activity.

Abstract

Ethnobotany is science that studies about utilization plant in a way traditional, one of them that is plant drugs. This study aims to determine types plant medicine and methods its use by village communities Taulan, Regency Enrekang. This research is of a nature descriptive explorative with method survey as well as technique interview to give detailed description of utilization plant medicine by the people in the village Taulan, Regency Enrekang. Method used is snowball sampling. Interview process done in an open-ended manner with guided by the table interview. Research result show as many as 53 types plants used by village communities Taulan as plant drug. Plant organs used​ like rhizomes, roots, stems, leaves, fruit, and flowers. Processing plant drug done with method simple, that is with method boiled, squeezed, chewed, or eaten direct as fresh vegetables.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Biology learning in schools still faces various obstacles, such as low motivation and activeness of students and the use of media and learning models that are less interesting. In addition, the implementation of laboratory practicums is also less than optimal due to limited facilities, time, and supporting staff, which has an impact on the low active participation of students in the learning process. This study aims to determine and describe the implementation of biology practicum activities at SMA Negeri 1 Gowa. This type of research is descriptive research using quantitative and qualitative approaches (mix method). Data were collected through filling out checklists, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of biology practicums at SMA Negeri 1 Gowa referring to the Learning Outcomes (CP) of the Independent Curriculum reached 68% with a fairly good category in the laboratory. The practicums carried out in class XI included observations of diffusion, osmosis, mitosis and meiosis, human skeletal torso, blood type, blood pressure, pulse rate, and starch and glucose tests, while those that were not carried out were calorie calculations on the 4 healthy 5 perfect menu, vitamin tests, and fat tests. There were several obstacles in the implementation of biology practicums, including several microscopes in poor condition (blurry), practicums were carried out in class due to schedules that clashed with other subjects, students did not yet understand the basics of implementing practicums, limited time and water, practicums coincided with school events, and the unavailability of guides and Student Worksheets (LKPD) in several classes. ABSTRAK Pembelajaran biologi di sekolah masih menghadapi berbagai kendala, seperti rendahnya motivasi dan keaktifan peserta didik serta penggunaan media dan model pembelajaran yang kurang menarik. Selain itu, pelaksanaan praktikum di laboratorium juga kurang optimal akibat keterbatasan fasilitas, waktu, dan tenaga pendukung, sehingga berdampak pada rendahnya partisipasi aktif peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan kegiatan praktikum biologi SMA Negeri 1 Gowa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif (mix method). Data dikumpulkan melalui pengisian daftar periksa (check- list), wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan praktikum biologi di SMA Negeri 1 Gowa yang mengacu pada Capaian Pembelajaran (CP) Kurikulum Merdeka mencapai 68% dengan kategori cukup baik di laboratorium. Praktikum yang terlaksana di kelas XI meliputi pengamatan difusi, osmosis, mitosis dan meiosis, torso rangka manusia, golongan darah, tekanan darah, denyut nadi, serta uji amilum dan glukosa sedangkan yang tidak terlaksana adalah perhitungan kalori pada menu 4 sehat 5 sempurna, uji vitamin, dan uji lemak. Terdapat beberapa kendala dalam pelaksanaan praktikum biologi, di antaranya beberapa mikroskop dalam kondisi kurang baik (buram), praktikum dilaksanakan di kelas akibat jadwal yang bertabrakan dengan mata pelajaran lain, peserta didik belum memahami dasar-dasar pelaksanaan praktikum, keterbatasan waktu dan air, praktikum bertepatan dengan acara sekolah, serta ketidaksediaan penuntun dan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) di beberapa kelas.

Abstract

Test the effectiveness of electronic modules (e-Modules). The hope of this research is to test the effectiveness of Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) based e-Modules. This type of research is research and development which refers to the ADDIE type of development (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The resulting product is an e-Module based on Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE), which was carried out effectively by 34 students. The instrument used is an essay test. The instruments that have been developed are used for data collection. The resulting data was then analyzed quantitatively. Based on the research results, it shows that the level of effectiveness of SOLE-based e-Modules in terms of student learning outcomes is 0.7, which is in the effective category with a medium level. So the SOLE-based e-Module is effective at a moderate level. The suggestion in this research is that it is recommended for researchers who want to continue this research to conduct influence-based experimental research to find out more about how this e-Module will work if it is tested in several schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the phonological features of the Acehnese language, focusing on the dialect spoken in Bakongan, South Aceh. The research aims to explore the use of diphthongs and consonant clusters as distinctive elements that reflect regional variation within the Acehnese linguistic landscape. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this study analyzes data derived from native speaker utterances, emphasizing phonetic patterns and phonological shifts. The findings reveal several unique diphthong forms in the Bakongan dialect, including /eu/, /ie/, /ée/, /eue/, /oe/, /ue/, /ai/, and /oi/, which differ in both usage and distribution from those in standard Acehnese. Furthermore, the study highlights the prominence of consonant clusters—particularly those involving the consonant "r"—as a marked feature in the speech of Bakongan speakers. These phonological variations contribute to the dialect's distinctiveness and underline the internal diversity of the Acehnese language. In conclusion, the research underscores the necessity of documenting local dialects to preserve linguistic richness and to support broader efforts in language maintenance and revitalization, especially in multilingual regions like Aceh.

Abstract

Kulit merupakan organ tubuh manusia yang sangat penting karena terletak pada bagian luar tubuh yang berfungsi menerima rangsangan seperti sentuhan, rasa sakit dan pengaruh lainnya dari luar. Penyakit kulit merupakan penyakit yang menyerang permukaan tubuh disebabkan oleh jamur, virus, kuman dan parasit. Faktor pendukung yang memacu terjadinya penyakit kulit diantaranya keadaan lingkungan berupa suhu dan kelembaban, sosial ekonomi yang berhubungan dengan tempat tinggal dan kepadatan hunian yang tinggi, selain itu kebiasaan yang menyangkut prilaku hidup bersih dan sehat. Kejadian penyakit kulit di Indonesia masih tergolong tinggi dan menjadi permasalahan yang cukup berat. Hal tersebut karena kurangnya kesadaran dan ketidak pedulian masyarakat terhadap lingkungan sekitar yang menyebabkan penularan penyakit kulit sangat cepat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan kulit, mencegah penyakit kulit, dan merawat kulit dengan benar. Penyuluhan ini bisa mencakup berbagai topik, seperti jenis-jenis penyakit kulit umum, penyebabnya, gejala, pencegahan, perawatan, dan penggunaan produk perawatan kulit yang aman. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Kota Palopo yang pesertanya berasal dari masyarakat Palopo Kota sebanyak 100 orang. Metode yang dilakukan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah berupa kegiatan penyuluhan secara satu arah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan dilakukannya penyuluhan kesehatan kulit  memberikan dampak positif kepada masyarakat kota Palopo. Penyampaian materi pada pelatihan ini dilakukan secara klasikal, semua peserta mengikuti materi yang disampaikan dengan cara ceramah dan kegiatan sesi tanya jawab. Kesimpulan yang didapat dari kegiatan ini yaitu peserta dapat merasakan manfaat dengan menambah pengetahuan mengenai pentingnya memelihara kesehatan kulit dengan menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan sehat di kalangan keluarga dan lingkungan sekitar. Semua peserta penyuluhan sangat antusias dan penuh semangat mengikuti mulai awal pelatihan hingga akhir. Kata kunci: Penyuluhan, Kesehatan Kulit, Pola Hidup Bersih dan Sehat Abstract Skin is a very important organ of the human body because it is located on the outside of the body which functions to receive stimuli such as touch, pain and other influences from outside. Skin diseases are diseases that attack the surface of the body caused by fungi, viruses, germs and parasites. Supporting factors that spur the occurrence of skin diseases include environmental conditions in the form of temperature and humidity, socio-economic conditions related to housing and high residential density, in addition to habits related to clean and healthy living behavior. The incidence of skin diseases in Indonesia is still relatively high and is a serious problem. This is due to the lack of awareness and indifference of the community to the surrounding environment which causes the transmission of skin diseases very quickly. This community service aims to increase people's understanding of the importance of maintaining healthy skin, preventing skin diseases, and taking proper care of the skin. This counseling can cover various topics, such as the types of common skin diseases, their causes, symptoms, prevention, treatment, and the use of safe skin care products. This activity was carried out in Palopo City with 100 participants from the Palopo City community. The method used in the implementation of this service is in the form of one-way counseling activities.Community service activities with skin health counseling have a positive impact on the people of Palopo city. The delivery of material in this training was carried out classically, all participants followed the material presented by lecturing and question and answer session activities. The conclusion obtained from this activity is that participants can benefit by increasing knowledge about the importance of maintaining skin health by implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle among families and the surrounding environment. All counseling participants were very enthusiastic and eager to follow from the beginning of the training to the end. Keywords: Counseling, Skin Health, Clean and Healthy Lifestyle

Abstract

Training on the use of soap leraks as a basic ingredient for gold jewelry washing soap aims to increase knowledge, popularize, and inspire people in Makassar City, especially women entrepreneurs, to reuse soap leraks as a natural soap ingredient. This training for the community is to increase knowledge and be able to reuse natural ingredients in their application in everyday life. The methods that have been carried out in this activity in stages include lectures for material presentation with an introduction to materials and how to manage them, demonstrations and direct practice, and discussions. The results of the training showed a positive response from the participants. The results of the activity showed that the community already knew about the use of soap leraks as a gold washing soap ingredient and its other benefits. In addition to the use of soap leraks as a soap ingredient, the community can independently use it according to their needs and applications. All participants have the skills and knowledge so that the opportunities for the use of soap leraks as a jewelry washing soap are increasingly wide open to the cultivation of soap leraks. During the activity, all participants showed very high enthusiasm for this training activity. Keywords: Lerak, Natural Ingredients, Soap   ABSTRAK Pelatihan pemanfaatan tumbuhan lerak sebagai bahan dasar sabun pencuci perhiasan emas bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, mempopulerkan, dan menggugah masyarakat di Kota Makassar khususnya pada pengusaha wanita dalam memanfaatkan kembali lerak sebagai bahan alami sabun. Pelatihan kepada masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan dapat memanfaatkan kembali bahan  alami dalam penerapannya di kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode yang telah dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini secara bertahap meliputi ceramah untuk pemaparan materi dengan pengenalan bahan-bahan dan cara kerja pengelolaan, demostrasi serta praktik langsung, dan diskusi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan respons positif dari peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat sudah mengetahui pemanfaatan lerak sebagai bahan sabun pencuci emas serta manfaat lainnya. Selain pemanfaatan lerak sebagai bahan sabun, secara mandiri masyarakat dapat memanfaatkannya sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan penerapannya. Seluruh peserta telah memiliki keterampilan dan pengetahuan sehingga peluang untuk pemanfaatan lerak sebagai sabun pencuci perhiasan semakin terbuka lebar hingga pada usaha budidaya tumbuhan lerak. Abstract

Unregistered marriages are still a reality that is often found in Indonesian society. Although considered valid according to religion, these unregistered marriages cause serious problems in the legal realm, especially for women and children involved in them. The absence of legal documents makes their legal position very weak, women find it difficult to claim a living or legal protection, while children lose their rights to identity, recognition of lineage, and even inheritance. In the midst of this complexity, the state has not been fully present to provide adequate protection. This study aims to understand in more depth how the practice of unregistered marriages impacts the rights of women and children, and how the legal system and state policies respond to these issues. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach through normative and empirical legal methods. Data were collected through literature studies, legal documentation, and limited interviews with women who were perpetrators or victims of unregistered marriages. The results of the analysis were then interpreted thematically to see the patterns of problems that emerged. The results of the study showed that unregistered marriages not only caused legal inequality, but also showed deep social injustice. Women and children were the parties most affected by the absence of marriage registration. Meanwhile, the marriage confirmation mechanism which should have been a solution has instead turned into a general procedure that is widely legalized. This study recommends that the state strengthen the marriage registration system, increase legal literacy in society, and build legal protection that is more inclusive and pro-vulnerable groups.
