Abstract

This study examines the concept of spiritual development toward the maqām of Ihsan through the perspectives of two prominent Muslim scholars, Imam al-Ghazali and Said Hawwa. Using a library research method with a descriptive-comparative approach, this study analyzes key ideas related to tazkiyatun nafs, the purification of the soul, and their relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Al-Ghazali emphasizes the stages of takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli as an introspective spiritual framework centered on purifying the heart and controlling desires. In contrast, Said Hawwa presents a more contextually modern framework of tarbiyah ruhiyah, highlighting the integration of personal spiritual growth with social righteousness through collective religious engagement. The findings reveal that the perspectives of the two scholars complement each other: al-Ghazali provides a foundational model for individual spiritual refinement, while Said Hawwa expands the concept toward social involvement grounded in sincerity and ihsan. The synthesis of these two approaches offers substantial relevance for Islamic educational curricula, particularly in pesantren, by shaping students who are ethically grounded, spiritually conscious, and capable of embodying Ihsan in both personal and social life.

Abstract

Nursing is a profession that is of great importance in the context of health services provided in hospitals. The quality of health services is significantly influenced by the performance of nurses who work in various treatment rooms. The objective of this study is to identify and analyse the relationship between the leadership style of the head of the room and the nurses’ desire to work in the nurses’ room of the RSIA Cicik Hospital. This study employed a quantitative research design with a descriptive cross-sectional study approach. 25% of employees had high motivation, while 75% had low motivation according to the authoritarian perspective. On the democratic side, 85.7% of employees had high motivation. With a p-value of 0.02, this relationship showed statistical significance. According to the democratic analysis, 30% of staff members have low motivation and 70% have high motivation. According to the authoritarian analysis, 87.5% of staff members have low motivation. As evidence of the statistical significance of this relationship, the p-value is 0.025. In the democratic perspective, 18.2% of staff members had low motivation and 81.8% had high motivation, while the authoritarian perspective showed that 75% of staff members had low motivation. This relationship has statistical significance with a p-value of 0.07. It would be beneficial for hospital management and ward heads to consider adopting a more democratic leadership style. To this end, ward leaders may benefit from undertaking leadership training, which will equip them with the skills required to manage teams in a more inclusive and supportive manner.

Abstract

The hydrometeorological floods that struck several regions of Sumatra in late 2025 generated extensive humanitarian impacts, marked by significant loss of life, severe damage to vital infrastructure, and serious disruptions to socio-economic resilience across multiple provinces. Despite the escalation of these impacts, the government did not declare a national disaster emergency status, citing the adequacy of state capacity. This article examines the conformity of this policy decision with the statutory indicators for declaring a disaster emergency as stipulated in Law Number 24 of 2007 and Government Regulation Number 21 of 2008, and analyzes its constitutional implications for the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights. This study employs a normative legal research method using statutory, conceptual, and critical juridical approaches. The analysis focuses on disaster law norms, principles of administrative law, and the doctrine of constitutional state responsibility, particularly the concept of state omission. The findings demonstrate that disaster emergency indicators are objective, cumulative, and impact-based, and therefore cannot be reduced to administrative discretion or claims of state capacity alone. Empirically, the scale of casualties, damage to vital infrastructure, and cross-provincial reach indicate that the emergency threshold had been met, thereby narrowing policy discretion into a conditional legal obligation. Delaying the declaration of emergency status risks undermining command legitimacy, recovery budgeting, and the protection of the rights to life, health, and public safety. This article concludes that the Sumatra flood crisis risks transforming from a natural disaster into a constitutional disaster due to the absence of a decisive, transparent, and accountable legal determination by the state.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Income Tax Article 21 (PPh 21) calculation using the Average Effective Rate (TER) method on the salaries of permanent employees at CV Bumi Temposok. The TER method was introduced by the Directorate General of Taxes to simplify the PPh 21 calculation process and improve tax administration efficiency. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing primary data obtained through observation and interviews, as well as secondary data from company documents and relevant literature. The results indicate that the application of the TER method at CV Bumi Temposok complies with the prevailing tax regulations, with tax calculations performed based on PTKP categories and established monthly effective rates. It was also found that several employees have zero tax status due to their gross income falling below the taxable threshold after accounting for allowable deductions. The implementation of TER has proven beneficial in saving calculation time, reducing potential errors, and ensuring tax compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the spatial ability of ninth-grade students at SMP Kasih Yobel Singkawang in the subject of flat-sided solid geometry, examined through the psychological variable of self-efficacy and the demographic variable of gender. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through a spatial ability test, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and in-depth interviews with subjects selected via purposive sampling. The results indicate a strong positive correlation between self-efficacy and spatial ability. Students with high self-efficacy demonstrated significantly superior performance, characterized by perseverance and effective problem-solving strategies, compared to students with low self-efficacy who tended to be hesitant, give up easily, and struggled with mental visualization. Significantly, this study also found that female students exhibited superior spatial ability across all measured components—spatial perception, relations, and visualization—compared to male students. These findings affirm that affective factors, such as self-belief, are crucial predictors of cognitive success in geometry and challenge gender stereotypes related to spatial abilities.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to design and validate a PISA-oriented instructional module for linear functions aligned with the Learning Outcomes of the Merdeka Curriculum. Method: This study employed a qualitative educational design research approach through document analysis and expert validation. The design process was based on an analysis of the Merdeka Curriculum Learning Outcomes (Phase D), the PISA 2022 Mathematics Framework, and relevant linear function materials. The instructional module was developed iteratively and validated in two cycles by two mathematics education lecturers and one junior high school mathematics teacher. Validation criteria covered content accuracy, pedagogical alignment, integration of PISA competencies, linguistic clarity, and instructional design quality. Findings: The needs analysis indicated that teachers did not yet possess structured PISA-based instructional modules. The first validation cycle highlighted the need to improve the clarity of learning objectives, interpretation-oriented tasks, activity differentiation, language consistency, and visual presentation. After systematic revisions, the second validation cycle confirmed that the module met feasibility standards across content, pedagogy, language, and instructional design aspects. Significance: This study provides a validated instructional module that bridges national curriculum demands and international mathematical literacy standards, offering a practical and theoretically grounded reference for integrating PISA-oriented learning into classroom instruction.
