Abstract

Transformational leadership in Islamic value-based educational institutions, such as Rumah Tahfidz Qur'an (RTQ), faces challenges in integrating traditional practices with modern innovations to improve academic quality. This study explores the effectiveness of transformational leadership in RTQ Surau Lakuak, focusing on the strategic use of social media. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involves in-depth interviews and document analysis, guided by Kouzes and Posner's (2017) Leadership Challenge framework, which includes five core dimensions: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. The findings indicate that leaders at RTQ Surau Lakuak effectively utilize social media to articulate their vision, enhance transparency, and foster community engagement. Key initiatives, such as digital donation campaigns, symbolic recognition, and community empowerment programs, have strengthened collaboration and ensured the sustainability of Qur'anic education programs. These practices are grounded in Islamic principles like ta'awun (cooperation) and deliberation, providing an adaptable leadership model for contemporary Islamic education. The study highlights the potential of applying the Leadership Challenge framework to address digital-era challenges, offering a replicable and innovative strategy for Islamic educational institutions in diverse contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the deliberative decision-making process in the management of the Integrated Boarding School Serambi Mekkah Padang Panjang. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis is conducted thematically, by filtering and grouping the data obtained from observations and documentation based on the main themes relevant to the research objectives. The findings reveal that musyawarah at Serambi Mekkah is not merely a cultural practice, but an institutionalized decision-making mechanism, manifested in leadership meetings, teacher forums, and parent assemblies. The decision-making process is participatory, involving various stakeholders and reflecting values such as collectivity, openness, and shared responsibility. Islamic principles such as trust (amanah), justice (‘adl), and mutual respect form the foundation of this process. However, certain challenges persist, including dominant leadership figures, time constraints, and limited managerial capacity among some participants. This article asserts that musyawarah is not just a tradition, but an effective and relevant management system for Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The implementation of educational supervision to enhance the teacher professionalism at MAS Thawalib Tanjung Limau, Tanah Datar Regency becomes  the main focus of this study. This study is a part of descriptive qualitative research. The head of the MAS, however, is the main source of research data. Observations and interviews are used as data collection techniques. The supervision provided by the head of MAS Thawalib Tanjung Limau plays a significant role as the effort to increase the quality of teachers. For increasing resource capacity and revamping materials to meet national education goals, strategies such as instructional supervision are helpful. The preparation stage, class observation, and assessment or feedback discussion are the three stages that make up this clinical supervision. Limited infrastructure and resources, lack of teacher discipline, and lack of teacher knowledge about efficient classroom management techniques are challenges experienced in the clinical supervision and teaching. This study shows that the principal's educational supervision places a vital position to support appropriate infrastructure and facilities of schools, maximize the teacher disciplinary action, and offer proper direction, and advice on efficient classroom management procedures.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method to analyze the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents selected using proportional random sampling techniques. The research instrument used a questionnaire with the variables to be assessed divided into variable indicators using a 5-point Likert scale. The data analysis technique used the classical assumption test, namely: normality test, linearity, autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, and multicollinearity. The analysis method used was a statistical test of multiple linear regression analysis. The collected data were then analyzed using the Pearson correlation test with the help of SPSS version 30 software. The results showed that leadership competence had a significant effect on managerial competence with a significance level of 49.4%, while the competence of the Leading Teacher had a significant effect with a level of 45.5%. Simultaneously, leadership competence and the competence of the Leading Teacher had a significant effect on managerial competence with a significance level of 84.7%. This finding implies the importance of developing both competencies to increase the effectiveness of the managerial role of the Leading Teacher in transforming learning in elementary schools in Solok Regency.
