Abstract

This study addresses the declining awareness of cultural identity among junior high school students, influenced by globalization and intercultural interactions in Lampung. To respond to this issue, the development of ethnopedagogy-based social studies (IPS) teaching materials integrating local wisdom and regional history was proposed. This study aimed to identify the gap between the teaching materials currently used in schools and the proposed teaching materials, as well as to analyze teachers’ and students’ responses toward the development of the product. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings revealed significant differences between conventional teaching materials and the ethnopedagogical materials to be developed, particularly in terms of integrating local cultural content. In addition, teachers and students responded positively to the proposed teaching materials. These findings indicate the importance of developing culturally contextualized learning resources to strengthen students’ local knowledge and cultural identity awareness, while supporting the improvement of social studies learning in junior high schools in Lampung.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of student management in improving students’ learning discipline at SD Negeri 2 Sinar Banten, Central Lampung, Indonesia. Learning discipline is an important component in elementary education because it supports students’ academic achievement, responsibility, punctuality, and behavioral development in school environments. Student management is considered a strategic effort in regulating student activities systematically through planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation processes. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design involving 36 participants consisting of the principal, homeroom teachers, subject teachers, students, and parents. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation analysis, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that student management was implemented through five integrated components, namely discipline program planning, consistent rule enforcement, educational reward and punishment systems, continuous monitoring and evaluation, and active parental involvement. The implementation significantly improved students’ learning discipline as reflected in the reduction of student violations from 199 to 83 cases (58.3%), improvement in attendance rates from 84.4% to 91.4%, and increased discipline assessment scores from 61.2% to 86.7%. The study concludes that collaborative and systematic student management contributes positively to strengthening learning discipline in rural elementary schools and provides practical implications for educational management development.

Abstract

The development of social media has transformed political communication, particularly through the emergence of political satire content on Instagram as a medium of social criticism. This phenomenon requires students to possess civic digital literacy in order to understand and respond to political information critically and responsibly. This study aims to analyze the civic digital literacy of PPKn students at the University of Lampung in responding to political satire content on Instagram. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The informants consisted of eight PPKn students and one political satire content creator selected purposively. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that students’ civic digital literacy is reflected in aspects of knowledge, values, and skills. Students are able to interpret satire as social criticism, apply critical thinking in evaluating political information, and verify content before responding. Furthermore, they demonstrate ethical awareness and digital responsibility in social media interactions. Thus, it can be concluded that PPKn students at the University of Lampung have good civic digital literacy in responding to political satire content on Instagram.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of legal compliance in society through a theoretical approach in sociology of law. Legal compliance is influenced not only by normative rules but also by social structures, cultural values, and individual perceptions. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literature review of recent academic publications. The findings indicate that legal compliance is a multidimensional phenomenon shaped by legal awareness, legitimacy, social structures, and the compatibility between formal law and living law. Classical theories from Durkheim, Weber, and Ehrlich are integrated with modern perspectives to explain the complexity of legal behavior in society. The study reveals that compliance based on internalization is more sustainable than compliance based on coercion. Furthermore, the effectiveness of law depends on public trust and legitimacy. Therefore, sociological approaches are essential in legal development to create responsive and socially accepted laws.
