Abstract

The educational paradigm in the 21st-century coronavirus pandemic requires a deeper research study. This study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of grade 1 students using the flipped classroom model and to find out their responses to the use of this model. The subjects of this study were 7 students who were grade 1 students of Ngadri 02 Binangun Elementary School. The research design used classroom action research consisting of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data were analyzed descriptively with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that the pre-cycle average value was 59, and an increase in cycle I became 77 and then 90 in cycle II. The minimum criteria are > 70 so that the cycle is stopped in the second cycle. Student responses in using this model, in general, can be said to be positive. Where most stated that the application of this model made it easier to learn mathematical material, increased self-confidence, learning flexibility, responsibility, active and free to choose learning styles. Although this model was not found to increase learning independence optimally, it can still be used to accommodate independent learning activities at home and train the learning independence of the low-grade students.

Abstract

Learning activities have an important role in student learning outcomes. Therefore, in learning activities, teachers must prepare quality learning. One of the efforts that can be made to improve the quality of learning is through the use of appropriate learning media. So that it can improve the process and better learning outcomes. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach. This research was conducted at the Karangwuni Elementary School. The purpose of this research is to develop learning technology in the form of interactive multimedia based on problem based learning. The steps used in this research and development are the ADDIE development model. This research uses Macromedia Flash 8 application assistance to develop interactive multimedia based on problem based learning. The research data were obtained through the media validation sheet instrument by experts. The results of the media feasibility test based on the validation results obtained a feasibility value of 80%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia based on problem based learning is feasible to be applied in learning activities.

Abstract

Development of the era affects education to keep on growing and its triggers schools for persist in being innovative, and one of the alternatives was using international curriculum, among others is Cambridge Curriculum. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Cambridge Curriculum at International Elementary School from the school and class level in terms of the planning, implementation, and evaluation. It used the case study approach with the type of descriptive research design with the subject consisting of teachers, principals, curriculum teams, students, and Cambridge Curriculum subject classes. The data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data validation was through triangulation and increased persistence using the interactive model data analysis technique. The results of this research indicate (1) there is an inter-teacher discussion forum entitled Curriculum Day, used in planning both levels of curriculum implementation and school-level evaluation, (2) implementation of the Cambridge Curriculum in the grade level is filled with hands on activities and uses sources and digital media such as Twinkl and Grammarly, and (3) besides the written test, there are non-written tests for learning evaluation such as I-STEAM EXPO and SLC, and the way of how Cambridge Curriculum’s implemented showed relevance between the development of education with their needs. This research concluded the implementation of Cambridge Curriculum in the school executed well for all stages in both levels and give advantages to the school’s development.

Abstract

The absence of learning media that is appropriate to the objectives of learning reading skills is a problem that exists in elementary schools. Based on these problems, the motivation and story reading skills of students are low. This research aims to create interactive learning media assisted by Adobe Flash that is valid, feasible, and effective in increasing third-grade elementary school students' motivation and story-reading skills. The research method uses RnD with the ADDIE model development procedure. The research subjects included material and media experts, teachers and third grade elementary school students. Data collection used scales, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis technique is quantitative analysis which is explained by qualitative analysis. The research results were the average validation results by media experts 99.2%, material experts 73.75%, teacher responses 94.05% and student responses 97.31%. The independent t-test and MANOVA research results show significant differences and influence on motivation and story reading skills between students who use and do not use interactive learning media assisted by Adobe Flash. It was concluded that creating interactive learning media assisted by Adobe Flash that was valid, practical and effective could increase the motivation and story reading skills of third grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Learning activities carried out online have several drawbacks. In online learning activities, teachers experience problems carrying out learning activities. These obstacles include the lack of appropriate media to be used in learning activities. The problems that occur indicate that in learning activities students have difficulty in understanding learning materials and learning motivation is still low. Therefore, in learning activities, teachers must prepare quality learning. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is through the use of appropriate learning media. So that it can improve the process and better learning outcomes. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning is feasible to be used in learning activities. The results of this study imply that the use of interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning plays an important role in the effectiveness of learning activities.

Abstract

Reading is very important to support academic achievement, but based on the observation results, the reading interest of grade 1 students is still low. A new, special strategy is needed that can help students improve their literacy and early reading skills. Therefore this study aims to analyze the strategy of implementing read aloud relay in building students' reading interest. This study is a qualitative study with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations and documentation conducted on 27 grade 1A students at elementary school. The data obtained were then analyzed according to Miles and Hubberman. The results of the study showed that read aloud relay applied during literacy hours and certain lesson hours can increase students' reading interest. In addition to developing reading interest through this strategy, it can also develop students' speaking and listening skills so that students understand what they are reading better. Therefore, read aloud relay can improve the literacy of grade 1 elementary school students.
