Abstract

Waworada Bay is a water in Bima Regency which has long been used by some people for seaweed cultivation. Currently, seaweed farmers do not know the exact harvest period. This causes differences in the harvest period between farmers. So far, research on the harvest period in Waworada Bay is not yet available. The experiments aimed to assess the ideal period for harvest among the different growth periods (35, 45, and 55 days). This research was conducted in Waworada Bay, Langgudu District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara from November 2021 to January 2022. Observation variables were absolute growth, growth rate, wet and dry biomass, productivity and water quality (temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, brightness, current). The seaweed cultivation method uses the longline method. The results showed that the highest absolute growth was found in the 55-day harvest period (115.70±1.71 g) and the lowest was in the 35-day harvest period (55.10±6.62 g). There was a significant difference in absolute growth between treatments. The growth rate was not significantly different between treatments with a value range of 1.09±0.24 to 3.55±1.39%day-1. Wet biomass ranged from 10,022±397.22 g 12m-1 (harvest period 55 days) to (6.306±149.92 g 12m-1) (harvest period 35 days). Dry biomass ranged from 670±34.12 g 12m-1 to 1.016±53.78 g 12m-1. Productivity ranges from 0.04 to 0.07 g dry weight m−2 days−1. The average water quality values are temperature 32.40 0C, dissolved oxygen 5.84 mg l-1, salinity 32 ppt, pH 7.30, brightness 2.50 m and current 14 cm sec-1.

Abstract

In competitive markets, innovation capability is critical in enhancing marketing strategies. The present study analyzes the effect of innovation capability on marketing performance outcome with visual aesthetics and positional advantage as mediating variables, and generational cohort as a moderating variable. The population of this study comprised 113 respondents from weaving and batik small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Central Sulawesi, who were selected through a census sampling method. The data were collected through the administration of questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using the Smart PLS 4 application to evaluate the relationships in the conceptual model. The findings suggest that innovation capability exerts a negative and non-significant influence on marketing performance. However, visual aesthetics and positional advantage have been shown to significantly enhance the impact of innovation capability on marketing performance. Subsequent findings demonstrate that visual aesthetics significantly enhances positional advantage. The generational cohort substantially moderates the relationship between innovation capability and marketing performance. This study posits that when employed as a marketing strategy, local wisdom can be a source of competitive advantage by leveraging visual elements derived from unique cultural symbols. As evidenced by the study's findings, this approach can be convenient in dynamic marketplaces where imitation is challenging. Generational groups exhibit divergent capacities for innovation within small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which can result in disparities in their ability to attain competitive advantage.

Abstract

The series of volcanic activities of Mount Raung triggered primary and secondary hazards in the area around the volcano. Kalibaru watershed is one of the areas prone to landslides due to secondary hazards of eruption activity in the direction of west and northwest part of this region. This study aims to optimize tourism by mapping landslide hazard using Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) around Mount Raung. This research used 46 points of landslide data through remote sensing, field observation. Ten landslide triggering factors, namely TPI (Topographic Position Index), TWI (Topographic Wetness Index), SPI (Stream Power Index), slope, distance to river, rainfall, geology, land use, distance to road, and soil type was used to map the landslide hazard. This study used ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) analysis to validate the landslide susceptibility mapping with an AUC (Area Under Curve) value of 0.93, which indicates that the mapping has a high accuracy value. The results showed that the landslide susceptibility is divided into three classes: high susceptible, moderate susceptible, and low susceptible. The high susceptible area covers 151.62 km2 (21%), the moderate susceptible area covers 407.99 km2 (56%), and the low susceptible area covers 166.79 km2 (23%). Based on the results of the mapping, tourism development in the area of Mount Raung is recommended in areas that are classified as medium and low landslide susceptibility. Keywords: Mount Raung, Landslides, SMCE, Tourism Development

Abstract

Indonesians must have high literacy to know about the disasters around them. There needs to be a learning model to improve disaster literacy. One of the alternatives is the Problem-based learning model with Root Cause Analysis. This research is a quantitative type of pseudo experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design where the pretest-posttest results of the experimental class and control class are compared to determine the effectiveness of the treatment in the experimental class. There are no particular specifications regarding the characteristics of the class used in the study. Data analysis used a sample t-test supported by prerequisite tests such as homogeneity and normality tests. The PBLRCA model has a significant effect on students' disaster literacy skills. The results showed increased literacy skills at a t value of 5,787. Steps such as independent review, investigating the root of the problem, and implementing action plans that can make PBLRCA students read, explore and analyze situations in depth more than Lecturing Method. These activities make students' disaster literacy improve.

Abstract

The development of sustainable tourism in landslide-prone areas required a detailed understanding of environmental risks to ensure safety and resilience. This study aimed to generate a comprehensive landslide risk map to support sustainable tourism development in the Kalibaru Watershed, located in the Raung Volcano region of Indonesia. This study employed the Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) method using spatial data and GIS software to map landslide risk based on three main components: hazard, vulnerability, and capacity. The results classified landslide risks in the Kalibaru Watershed into three categories: high risk (21,682 hectares), medium risk (28,113 hectares), and low risk (22,742 hectares). The findings revealed that the highest risk areas were concentrated on the middle and upper slopes of the watershed, particularly within the Glenmore and Kalibaru sub-districts, where a combination of steep terrain, soil characteristics, and heavy rainfall exacerbated landslide susceptibility. This risk map provided valuable insights for stakeholders involved in sustainable tourism planning, offering a strategic tool for developing safe, environmentally-conscious, and disaster-resilient tourism infrastructure. The implementation of this map aimed to raise awareness among local communities and policymakers about the potential landslide risks and encouraged the adoption of effective mitigation measures, fostering a more sustainable and disaster-aware tourism model in the region.

Abstract

Background: Disaster awareness is a key factor in improving individual preparedness for disaster threats, especially for people with visual impairments, including vulnerable groups who require an educational approach tailored to the characteristics of visual impairment. Therefore, this study aims to increase inclusive disaster awareness for people with visual impairments in Banyuwangi Regency, which has a high disaster risk index. Method: The method used was Participatory Action and Learning for Sustainability (PALS), which involved 10 active community participation in four stages, namely awareness raising, capacity building, mentoring, and institutionalization.  Results: The study showed that the level of disaster awareness among people with visual impairments was low. The implementation of outreach using accessible media increased participants' understanding of the types of disasters and independent evacuation measures, although obstacles were encountered in the field, such as variations in educational backgrounds, language sensitivity, and limited technological literacy. This was demonstrated by an increase in the average pre-test score, which was initially low (32.5), to 91.5 in the post-test, or an increase of 59 points. The increase in knowledge levels was also evidenced by the Normalized Gain (N-gain) calculation results, with an average in the high category (g>0.7), proving that there was no knowledge gap. Conclusion: Improving inclusive disaster awareness requires continuous education, information media tailored to the characteristics of disabilities, and cross-sectoral support to achieve equitable disaster preparedness.
