Abstract

The seagrass ecosystem is a habitat and food source for fish and other aquatic biota. One of the biota commonly found in seagrass beds is gastropods . This aim research was carried of identifying the composition of gastropod species, assessing ecological indices which include species density, species diversity, species dominance, species evenness, distribution patterns of gastropods and their use in the seagrass ecosystem on Maitara Island. Gastropod sampling was carried out at low tide. The gastropod samples determined based on morphological characteristics such as shell shape, shell color, shell mouth opening and spiral circle. Based on the research results, the composition of gastropod species found in the seagrass ecosystem is 32 species. The density of gastropod species was highest in the seagrass ecosystem on Maitara Island, at each different station. The highest density of gastropod species was Morula uva and Strombus luhuanus, while the lowest density was Trhocus maculatus, Littorina scabra and Nassarius sp. The diversity of gastropod species at all stations is classified as moderate. For the dominance index at all stations, there is no dominant species in the category. The evenness of species at station 1 and 4 is classified as more evenly distributed, while at stations 2 dan 3 it is classified as very evenly distributed. The overall distribution pattern of gastropods is classified as clustered and random. Totals 32 species of gastropods, 10 of them are used by the people of Maitara Island as food for consumption. Keywords:benthicconditionimpacttropicalsurvival

Abstract

Seagrass ecotourism is a tourism activity based on seagrass ecosystem as an educational tour by seeing the ecology of seagrass meadows and associated biota. Conservation awareness and improving community welfare, seagrass ecotourism is a nature-based tourism strategy with the aim of environmental conservation and containing aspects of community education and culture. Determining the sustainability status of seagrass ecosystem management is very important as a basis for future policy planning. The sustainability of seagrass ecosystems needs to be protected, so a policy strategy is applied in sustainable seagrass ecosystem management. The objectives of the study are: 1) determining the sustainability status of ecotourism-based seagrass ecosystem management based on ecological, economic and social dimensions, 2) determining the policy strategy for ecotourism-based seagrass ecosystem management. The results of the study obtained the sustainability status of ecotourism-based seagrass ecosystem management based on ecological dimensions is quite sustainable while the economic and social dimensions are less sustainable. The strategy for sustainable policy for managing seagrass ecosystems based on ecotourism on Maitara Island, Tidore Islands, namely education about seagrass ecosystems for the community, managing seagrass ecosystems based on ecotourism, increasing seagrass rehabilitation programs, maximum limits for carrying capacity of seagrass ecotourism, training for developing managers of seagrass ecotourism based on ecosystems, increasing job opportunities and business opportunities, legality of seagrass areas as conservation areas in the tourism utilization zone category and strengthening laws and institutions. Keywords:analysismultidimensionalsmall islandsustainabilitytourism

Abstract

Early Quranic education plays a crucial role in shaping a child's character and spirituality. At the Raudhatul Athfal (RA) level, introducing the Quran isn't just about memorization; it's about building a foundational understanding through methods that are easy, enjoyable, and effective. However, in reality, many children in RA still face challenges in reading the Quran with proper tartil (rhythmic and melodic recitation) and accuracy. This research aims to demonstrate that the Ummi Method offers an innovative solution with its "heart-to-heart" approach. The study's findings indicate that the implementation of the Ummi Method is systematically carried out in five core stages: opening, memorization, classical demonstration, evaluation, and closing. Based on student evaluation data, there was a significant improvement in Quran reading ability, shifting from 60% in the "sufficient" category to 85% in the "good" category after the Ummi Method was applied for one semester. This method also successfully fostered a love for learning and a sense of affection for the Quran in children from an early age.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service program is to increase the food independence of the Darul Ulum Pakkatto Islamic Boarding School in Gowa Regency by providing training and assistance on how to cultivate tilapia with a biofloc system. The pesantren has a number of students ±225 people currently depends entirely on the supply of fish from outside, with a consumption of ±30 kg per week. This creates an uncertain cost burden and supply risk. Despite this, the pesantren has an open land area of 110,000 square meters with two concrete pools that have not been properly utilized. This program is carried out in three stages: (1) Field survey to determine the needs and potential of cultivation; (2) Design of biofloc cultivation media, including pond cleaning, construction of new ponds, installation of aeration, and provision of supporting facilities; and (3) Technical training and assistance, including water quality management, seed distribution, feeding, and fish health monitoring. The results of the activity showed that the participants gained the knowledge and skills needed to carry out tilapia cultivation independently. This program can reduce pesantren dependence on food sources, reduce operating costs, and provide students with business opportunities. Biofloc technology has proven to be successful as a food independence solution based on pesantren that can be applied elsewhere.

Abstract

Only around 40% of male betta fish are typically produced under normal conditions. Honey, a natural substance containing potassium and flavonoids, has the potential to alter fish sexuality from female to male. Potassium plays a key role in regulating testosterone and supporting androgen function, which promotes male characteristics in fish. This study aimed to identify the type of pure natural honey that most effectively increases the production of male betta fish fry. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, consisting of four treatments with three replications each. The treatments were: (1) control (no honey soaking), (2) soaking eggs in Forest honey solution at a dose of 5 mL/L, (3) soaking eggs in Multiflora honey solution at 5 mL/L, and (4) soaking eggs in Randu honey solution at 5 mL/L. Sex identification was carried out at 60 days through morphological observation of the urogenital organs, and confirmed at 70 days using gonad histology with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The results showed that the highest percentage of males was obtained in Treatment 3 (Multiflora honey), at 59.59% 1.65, while the lowest was in the control group (Treatment 1) at 43.30% 1.70. The survival rate differed significantly among treatments, ranging from 40.00% to 66.67%, and the hatching rate ranged from 70% to 90%. Water quality parameters including temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO) remained within the optimal range for betta fish maintenance throughout the study. In conclusion, Multiflora honey was the most effective in increasing the production of male betta fish fry.
