Abstract

Setyawan D, Maren A, Budianta D, Warsito W, Priatna SJ. 2022. Liquid organic fertilizer from pineapple peel waste for rural rubber land improvement in West Payaraman, Ogan Ilir. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang  27 Oktober 2022. pp. 878-884.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Rubber plantations are an important source of income in Payaraman District, Ogan Ilir and are generally cultivated on marginal lands. Meanwhile, pineapple peel waste that is not utilized will pile up into garbage even though it can be used as liquid organic fertilizer or compost. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of POC pineapple peel waste in increasing soil N, P, and K nutrients and latex production. The study used a split plot design with the main plot of weed clearing (without and with weeding) while the subplots were POC doses of 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4% (equivalent to 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 ml POC). per liter of water). Watering is done with a frequency of once per week. The treatment was repeated three times. The experimental unit consisted of 30 mature rubber trees. Latex is collected weekly. The results showed that the POC of pineapple peel had a pH of 3.95; 0.05 % N; 0.027 % P and 0.19 % K. The initial soil pH value from 4.13 to 4.18 increased to around pH 5.0 after POC application for 4 weeks. Likewise, the total N content is about 0.26%; P-total 100 mg/kg and K-total 14 mg/kg. ANOVA results showed that the best treatment was a dose of 30 ml/liter with a latex production of 770 g/tree. Based on these observations, it can be concluded that the POC of pineapple waste has the potential to improve soil fertility and latex production. Weeding is important to reduce nutrient competition with rubber plants.

Abstract

Abstract

Thalassemia is one of the most dangerous blood disorders that can lead to severe complications. It is an inherited disease, usually detected after a child is two to four years old. Identification of thalassemia is a complex task, involving many variables. Doctors generally diagnose thalassemia by using a complete blood count (CBC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) test results. However, HPLC tests are expensive and time consuming, hence the need for other methods to identify thalassemia. There are many studies on the application of artificial intelligence for medical applications. In this study, we developed a new fuzzy-based approach to identify thalassemia based on a patient’s blood laboratory results. First, we analyzed the CBC data for blood disorder prediction. Secondly, we adopt the test results of peripheral blood smear (PBS) to identify whether the person has thalassemia. We conducted several experiments using 30 (thirty) hospital patient data and the results were compared with the results provided by experts. The experimental results show that the system can determine blood disorders with 93% accuracy and 100% precision in thalassemia prediction. This system is very effective to help doctors in diagnosing thalassemia patients.

Abstract

Tea from tea leaves of the Camellia sinensis species is a superior industrial plant that promises superior bioactivity. For a more in-depth study of the essential oils contained in commercial teas on the market, their significant characteristic from their constituent compounds were determined. The essential oil yields of the three commercial samples were obtained by distillation using a Liken-Nickerson vessel and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), then tested for antioxidant properties by the DPPH method. The yield obtained ranged from 0.08-0.13%. The main major components (more than 0.5% identified) contained in the three samples identified were benzyl acetate, between 4,56-26.27%, and linalool compounds from tea leaves, as much as 20.59%, and 3.42% in samples C and B which were not found in sample A. As shown by our results, antioxidant activity significantly correlated with benzyl acetate and linalool composition. Sample A showed the best antioxidant profile, with highest inhibition (IC50 20.19 mg/mL).

Abstract

Alpha-pinene is the main compound in turpentine oil and is widely used as a fragrance, fine chemistry, flavour, and antibacterial. Due to the presence of unsaturated double bonds in its structure, this compound’s chemical properties are relatively active. Hydrogenation is a common method for saturating compounds and nickel has shown good activity in this process as catalysts. However, it often shows reaction conditions such as high pressure. The research method added nickel chloride to a suspension mixture of NaBH4 in isopropyl alcohol until a black colloidal solution and a-pinene reagents were added. Hydrogen gas was added in different conditions, with a pressure of 2-4 atm at the temperature of 50-60 oC 24h. The result showed a nickel formed at a nanoparticle size of 34-81 nm. Furthermore, FT-IR results show a difference in intensity at wavelengths of 1600 and 3000 cm-1, indicating the formation of hydrogenation products. The GC-MS shows a new peak at a retentivity of 5.503, which characteristics show that it is identified as a pinane compound with the highest percentage of 63% at a reaction condition of 4 atm.

Abstract

Coffee is an important commodity for the world business community. One of the world's leading coffee producers is Indonesia. In Indonesia, several provinces produce coffee beans, especially in Sumatra island. They generally cultivate robusta-type coffee. The determination of coffee quality here is still done manually. Recently, along with the increasing recognition of computers, several decision-support system approaches have been introduced, including the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). This research aims to implement the AHP to assess Indonesian robusta coffee beans (Lampung, Bengkulu, and South Sumatra). The researchers use a systematic process, including the preparation stage, data collection using datasets, determination of criteria and alternatives, hierarchical structure, creation of matrices to compare pairs, calculation of priority vectors and eigenvector values, and accuracy testing. This research uses six criteria with 19 sub-criteria and seven alternatives. From the rankings calculated using the AHP method for coffee production areas, the best quality coffee bean is in West Lampung, with the highest value of  0.28. The results of this study are compared with those given by an expert. The results show the MAPE error of 4.42%, a very accurate category.  Thus, it is shown that this method provides excellent results. Future research can be conducted to develop a more sophisticated and efficient AHP method for multi-criteria decision-making in various fields such as business management, engineering, environment, and health.

Abstract

This study argues that education of Sufism values in the teaching of the Syadziliyyah order is able to form a moderate religious attitude of former thugs in Solo. Humanist and family values make this group of former thugs accept diversity and various Nusantara traditions. Teachings that do not focus on Islamic politics make them accept the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila. They can cooperate with various elements of government from the center to the lowest level. Group activities that show a moderate attitude are activities based on social and personal benefits that include charity and disaster rescue activities by forming team called Juba Rescue. This study is a qualitative study with data collection techniques including interviews, observations and documentation. Determination of respondents using purposive sampling techniques with the criteria of founder, mentor, and active members. Data is analyzed through three stages, namely; data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions.
