Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the primary education level is a strategic step in addressing the challenges of 21st-century education, which demands flexibility, creativity, and contextual learning. This study aims to examine the adaptation process of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Pangeran 3 Banjarmasin, a school with limited resources but showing strong initiative in its implementation. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were obtained through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation. The results indicate that although the teachers at this school face challenges such as limited access to training, inadequate facilities, and restricted financial support, they are able to creatively and contextually implement the Merdeka Curriculum. Strategies such as project-based learning (P5), utilizing local learning resources, and informal collaboration among teachers have been key to success. Supportive leadership from the principal and a culture of gotong royong (collective work practice) in the school environment also contribute to the sustainability of this curriculum adaptation. These findings emphasize that the success of the Merdeka Curriculum implementation relies not only on the availability of infrastructure but also on the resilience, creativity, and collaboration of educators. This study recommends strengthening flexible and equitable teacher training, as well as affirmative policies for small schools, so that curriculum implementation can proceed in a more inclusive and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at a public elementary school using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with the principal, who plays a central role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the curriculum. The findings reveal that although the school demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the Merdeka Curriculum, several challenges remain. These include limited teacher training, unequal digital literacy, and insufficient resources to support diverse student needs—especially those with special needs. Key components such as differentiated learning, diagnostic assessments, the integration of Pancasila Student Profile values, and parental collaboration emerged as focal points in the adaptation process. The success of the implementation heavily depends on the principal’s leadership, teacher readiness, policy support, and inter-stakeholder collaboration. This study recommends strengthening teacher capacity, optimizing the use of technology, and enhancing strategic parent engagement. In doing so, the Merdeka Curriculum can be contextually implemented in an adaptive and student-centered manner, aligning with its original purpose of promoting inclusive and meaningful learning for all students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the transition of the curriculum from the 2013 Curriculum to the Independent Curriculum at SDN Alalak Tengah 4 which faces various challenges, especially related to teacher readiness and the availability of learning resources. The purpose of the research is to identify the problems faced by schools in the curriculum transition process as well as the factors that affect the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. The method used was qualitative research with a case study approach, involving teachers and students as samples, as well as data collection through in-depth interviews with school principals and observations. The results of the study show that some teachers, especially senior teachers, have not fully understood the principles of the Independent Curriculum and have difficulties in compiling independent teaching modules. The implementation of the curriculum was carried out in stages but then fully implemented in all classes due to the pressure of competition between schools. The main obstacle is the limitation of learning media such as textbooks.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the revitalization of the Merdeka Curriculum, despite its significant impact on improving the quality of education at SDN Semangat Dalam 3 Banjarmasin. The study aims to explore the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum revitalization and identify supporting factors and challenges. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive case study design, with a sample of one principal and one teacher selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and curriculum document analysis, and analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the revitalization of the Merdeka Curriculum has enhanced instructional innovation and fostered active involvement of teachers and students in learning. The principal applied a transformational leadership style to motivate teachers, while teachers assumed the role of facilitators in active learning. The establishment of teacher learning communities also contributed to the successful implementation of the curriculum. These findings align with organizational change theory in education, which emphasizes collective leadership and collaboration, as well as transformational leadership theory, which views school principals as change agents. The role of teachers as facilitators aligns with constructivist learning theory, which emphasizes student-centered learning. The study concludes that the success of Merdeka Curriculum revitalization is influenced by synergy between principals and teachers. The implications include theoretical contributions by enriching the literature on Merdeka Curriculum implementation, and practical recommendations for education authorities and schools to enhance teacher training, leadership, and sustainable teacher learning communities. Future research focuses on the long-term impact of curriculum revitalization on student outcomes.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum (Curriculum Merdeka) brings significant changes to the learning structure in elementary schools, including the simplification and reduction of material in several subjects. At SDN Sungai Miai 10, these adjustments pose challenges for teachers, such as limited training, student readiness, and learning time management. This study aims to analyze teachers' strategies in adapting to the reduced material in the Independent Curriculum, identify the obstacles encountered, and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method through in-depth interviews with the principal and class teachers directly involved in the curriculum's implementation. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns in the strategies used. Findings indicate that teachers addressed the reduced material by reinserting removed topics into relevant lessons, implementing project-based learning, a thematic approach, and formative assessment. These strategies increase student engagement, maintain conceptual understanding, and tailor learning to students' needs. However, the success of these strategies is greatly influenced by teacher readiness and ongoing training support. This study emphasizes the importance of supporting facilities, flexible teaching modules, and regular evaluation to ensure the effective implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Sungai Miai 5 faces two primary challenges: teachers’ continued reliance on traditional teaching methods and the limited integration of technology in classroom practices. These issues stem not only from a lack of exposure to digital tools but also from insufficient skills in applying them to support learning activities. This condition poses a significant obstacle to designing innovative, student-centered approaches in line with the core principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, such as project-based learning and differentiated instruction. This study aims to explore effective strategies to improve teacher competencies through mindset transformation and the enhanced use of technology, ultimately supporting the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the primary school level. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participatory observations involving several teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and solutions identified. The results indicate that targeted strategies such as technical mentoring, need-based professional development, the establishment of collaborative learning communities, and strong school leadership support are essential in facilitating teacher transformation. Furthermore, access to adequate digital infrastructure significantly boosts the adoption of technology-enhanced learning. Teachers have gradually demonstrated improvements in digital competence and have begun to implement more varied, contextual, and student-oriented learning strategies that reflect the spirit of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Discusses the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Telaga Biru 4 Banjarmasin, which is a refinement of the 2013 Curriculum. Education in Indonesia is experiencing development. The government created an independent curriculum by undertaking a project to raise the prominence of Pancasila pupils who are prepared to meet the difficulties of current developments. The Independent Curriculum provides flexibility for schools and teachers in designing learning according to the characteristics of students. One important aspect of the Merdeka Curriculum is the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Program (P5), where students carry out projects to develop their potential and skills. The case study at SDN Telaga Biru 4 shows that the implementation of P5 uses a block system, with the theme of entrepreneurship as the focus. This project involves students in making various types of snacks, helping them develop an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age. Through making snacks, students can understand the importance of food quality for health and use it as a business opportunity in the future. The purpose of this study is to describe how the Project for Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students (P5) was implemented with the theme of entrepreneurship. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive focus. Interviews are the key data collection approach. Researchers conducted interviews with the Principal and Class I Teachers. The study's findings revealed that the execution of the Project for Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students with the topic Entrepreneurship at SDN Telaga Biru 4 went smoothly and with great enthusiasm from the students. The implementation of P5 has the potential to boost student entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork.
