Abstract

This study aims to analyze the water quality of the Anahoni river due to gold mining by covering chemical parameters (pH, DO, BOD, COD, heavy metal mercury (Hg), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), Cadmium (Cd), Arsenic (As) ) and cyanide (CN).Metal mercury, iron, copper, cadmium, arsenic, and cyanide were tested at the Proling Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) laboratory. Meanwhile, DO, BOD parameters were analyzed at the Maluku Provincial Health Office Laboratory. pH and temperature parameters were carried out measured in situ. The pH value of the waters was obtained in the range of 7.1-10.5.The measured DO concentration has a value that varies in the range of 4.6-10.4 mg/L.The concentration of BOD has a value in the range of 0.5-10 .25 mg/L. COD concentrations have values in the range of 1.7-12.11 mg/L. Hg, Fe, Cu, As, and CN metals were detected in water and sediments.

Abstract

The integration of local traditions into science education has the potential to enhance student engagement, cultural relevance, and academic performance. This study explores the development of an innovative integrated science curriculum that incorporates the rich cultural heritage of Southern Tapanuli, Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing purposive sampling to select approximately 30 participants, including teachers, students, and community members. Data collection involves semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis reveals five key themes: Cultural Relevance (107 mentions), Engagement (127 mentions), Community Involvement (71 mentions), Practical Applications (39 mentions), and Challenges (31 mentions). Content analysis further highlights the importance of cultural context (30.7%) and participant interaction (36.0%). Comparative analysis indicates significant differences between groups, with Group A demonstrating higher mean scores (82.5 vs. 75.2, p<0.05) and success rates (78% vs. 65%, p<0.01). Inferential statistics, including t-tests (t=2.45, p=0.018), ANOVA (F=4.67, p=0.012), and chi-square tests (χ²=10.30, p=0.015), support the existence of significant differences and associations between variables. These findings align with previous research emphasizing the benefits of interactive teaching methods and community engagement in education. The study concludes that culturally responsive teaching approaches and community involvement can significantly enhance student motivation and achievement in science education. Future research should further explore these relationships in diverse educational settings to validate and extend these findings.

Abstract

In general, the engine when running must be in a stable condition. So it is necessary to keep the engine temperature cool during operation, this is very important so that performance is maintained and power is not sluggish. One way is to use a cooler, adding STP Cooler to non-coolant water will certainly reduce engine temperature. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using STP Cooler on engine temperature when using plain water and a mixture of plain water and STP Cooler. The method used in this study was to test at 3 variations of engine speed, namely 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm and 2000 rpm. The results obtained show that the average temperature of the engine when using plain water at 1000 rpm engine speed is 65 oC, at 1500 rpm engine speed the temperature is 70 oC, and at 1500 rpm engine speed the temperature is 78.3 oC, while the average temperature when using a mixture plain water with STP Cooler at 1000 rpm rotation the temperature is 70.6 oC, , at 1500 rpm rotation the temperature is 75.3 oC, and at 2000 rpm rotation the temperature is 81 oC, . From the test results it can be concluded that when using ordinary water the average temperature is still lower than when using a mixture of ordinary water and STP Cooler.
