Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties in mathematics specifically in the topic of trigonometry at the senior high school (SMA/SMK) level. The background of the study highlights that abstract concepts such as sine, cosine, tangent functions, identities, and equations often pose challenges for students. These difficulties are largely caused by a lack of basic geometric understanding, limited ability to visualize angles, and a curriculum that is not fully adaptive to students’ learning needs. The absence of these foundational skills makes it challenging for students to relate trigonometric concepts to real-life contexts, thereby reducing the effectiveness of learning. The research method employed is a secondary literature analysis from various reliable sources, including case studies, student surveys, and evaluations of the national curriculum. This approach enables the identification of patterns of learning difficulties qualitatively while also examining factors that influence students’ comprehension levels. The analysis results indicate that the main challenges include understanding abstract concepts (42%), applying formulas (35%), and learning motivation (23%). External factors, such as conventional teaching methods that lack variety and limited learning resources, further exacerbate the problem. Based on these findings, the study recommends innovative learning approaches, such as the use of digital technology, interactive media, and project-based learning relevant to everyday life. These approaches are expected to enhance student understanding, encourage active engagement, and reduce achievement gaps. This research aims to provide practical contributions for educators and policymakers to improve the effectiveness of trigonometry instruction at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the water quality of the Anahoni river due to gold mining by covering chemical parameters (pH, DO, BOD, COD, heavy metal mercury (Hg), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), Cadmium (Cd), Arsenic (As) ) and cyanide (CN).Metal mercury, iron, copper, cadmium, arsenic, and cyanide were tested at the Proling Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) laboratory. Meanwhile, DO, BOD parameters were analyzed at the Maluku Provincial Health Office Laboratory. pH and temperature parameters were carried out measured in situ. The pH value of the waters was obtained in the range of 7.1-10.5.The measured DO concentration has a value that varies in the range of 4.6-10.4 mg/L.The concentration of BOD has a value in the range of 0.5-10 .25 mg/L. COD concentrations have values in the range of 1.7-12.11 mg/L. Hg, Fe, Cu, As, and CN metals were detected in water and sediments.

Abstract

The integration of local traditions into science education has the potential to enhance student engagement, cultural relevance, and academic performance. This study explores the development of an innovative integrated science curriculum that incorporates the rich cultural heritage of Southern Tapanuli, Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing purposive sampling to select approximately 30 participants, including teachers, students, and community members. Data collection involves semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis reveals five key themes: Cultural Relevance (107 mentions), Engagement (127 mentions), Community Involvement (71 mentions), Practical Applications (39 mentions), and Challenges (31 mentions). Content analysis further highlights the importance of cultural context (30.7%) and participant interaction (36.0%). Comparative analysis indicates significant differences between groups, with Group A demonstrating higher mean scores (82.5 vs. 75.2, p<0.05) and success rates (78% vs. 65%, p<0.01). Inferential statistics, including t-tests (t=2.45, p=0.018), ANOVA (F=4.67, p=0.012), and chi-square tests (χ²=10.30, p=0.015), support the existence of significant differences and associations between variables. These findings align with previous research emphasizing the benefits of interactive teaching methods and community engagement in education. The study concludes that culturally responsive teaching approaches and community involvement can significantly enhance student motivation and achievement in science education. Future research should further explore these relationships in diverse educational settings to validate and extend these findings.

Abstract

This research aims to find out teachers' perceptions of the application of independent learning through a blended learning learning and what factors are obstacles in the application of independent learning through blended learning model at SMA Negeri 12 Buru. The research method of this research is descriptive types and approaches of qualitative research. The results of the study can be concluded as follows: Teachers' perceptions of the application of independent learning through a blended learning model at SMA Negeri 12 Buru, namely the application of independent learning at SMA Negeri 12 Buru has not been running or implemented because independent learning has not been socialized in schools directly to provide an understanding of independent learning to all elements of the school, both teachers, educational personnel, and students. During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning was carried out offline and online, namely online learning for students who have android-based cellphones while students who do not have android-based cellphones learn offline, namely teachers visit students in their respective homes the blended learning model during the Covid-19 pandemic helped the implementation of the learning process at SMA Negeri 12 Buru. Factors that become obstacles in the application of independent learning through a blended learning model at SMA Negeri 12 Buru are: 1) Limited learning facilities and infrastructure, 2) Schools do not have human resources for educational personnel, 3) Limited internet quotas, 4) Limited internet network access, 5) Lack of teacher ability to use information technology, 6) Economic limitations of parents.

The Rasch approach is chosen as the statistical method to assess the reliability and validity of test items in mathematics exams. This research specifically aimed to analyse the basic mathematics knowledge test items of elementary school students using the Rasch approach, with the goal of producing high-quality test instruments to measure students' basic mathematics knowledge. This study is a quantitative descriptive research with a sample of 75 elementary school students in Kendari. The analysed test instrument consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions and was analysed using the Rasch approach by implementing the Winstep program. The results showed that twenty-four items were valid and one item was invalid. The reliability obtained was categorized as good at 0.94. There were six items classified as the most difficult, seven items as difficult, nine items as easy, and three items as the easiest. As in the item differentiator, one item was categorized as very poor, one as poor, eleven as fair, and twelve as good.
