Abstract

TikTok, as a rapidly growing platform, offers a variety of creative features that enable users to effectively reach a wider audience. This study discusses the TikTok social media strategy implemented by Nusantara TV to enhance engagement, as engagement significantly impacts a company’s public image. Using a qualitative approach, the research demonstrates how these strategies contribute significantly to increased engagement. The study analyzes Nusantara TV’s TikTok content strategy through the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework. The strategy includes the use of up-to-date news content, short video formats, interactive Live Streams, and the use of hashtags. Audience responses are reflected through comments, likes, and shares, with a preference for educational content. As a result, there has been a significant increase in engagement and follower growth—from 5,000 to 80,000 in three months—along with improved audience loyalty toward Nusantara TV’s TikTok account. View counts rose organically from around 13 million in January, 40 million in February, and 86 million in March. The combination of content and tagging has helped boost both engagement and follower count on Nusantara TV’s TikTok.

Abstract

Abstract

Integrating technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge is critical for effective teaching in the 21st century, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has intensified the reliance on digital tools in education. This study examines the interrelationships among the six components of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework as demonstrated by Madrasah Tsanawiyah teachers in Banyumas Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative research design was employed, with participants selected through proportional random sampling from the population of Madrasah Tsanawiyah teachers in the region. Data were collected using a questionnaire based on a 4-point Likert scale and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings indicate that each component: Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), and Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK): exerts a positive and statistically significant influence on overall TPACK. Specifically, significant positive relationships were observed between TK and TPACK, PK and TPACK, TCK and TPACK, PCK and TPACK, and TPK and TPACK. These results underscore the necessity of reinforcing all dimensions of the TPACK framework to improve teaching effectiveness in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, with the quantitative analysis affirming the strength and significance of these associations.

Abstract

“OLSEN” is a very new coffee shop in Semarang. This design aims to visualize the identity of the “OLSEN” coffee shop. The logo design is based on a unique selling proposition (USP), which is elaborated with the business development concept: a coffee shop with a family feel. In identifying the USP, the qualitative descriptive analysis method of strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T) or SWOT is used. The data used is primary data collected through interviews and observations. Starting from the basis of the USP, the logo developed is a type of logotype with a choice of bold San Serif capital letters and an orange color choice. The logo is made minimalist to give a light, homey, and friendly impression. The logo is added with the slogan "Caffeine Supply" to give a unique and contemporary impression and is not generic. The minimalist logo design was chosen because the “OLSEN” coffee shop is a coffee shop that has not been operating for long, so the logo is expected to make it easier for consumers to remember the “OLSEN” coffee shop.

Abstract

This study aimed to compare students’ speaking performance and engagement between online and offline classes in English learning at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 6 Kabupaten Sorong. The research was motivated by the shift in learning modes following the pandemic, which created differences in how students practiced and developed speaking skills. While online learning provided flexibility and digital exposure, offline classes allowed more direct interaction and immediate feedback from teachers. This research used a comparative quantitative design. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students, with two classes selected through purposive sampling: one representing online learning and the other offline instruction. Data were collected using a speaking performance test and a student questionnaire. The test assessed pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and confidence, while the questionnaire measured motivation and learning preferences. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test to determine whether there was a significant difference between the two groups. The findings showed that students in offline classes achieved higher speaking scores than those in online classes. The mean score of the offline group was 77.25, while the online group’s mean score was 70.80, with a p-value of 0.002 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference. However, the questionnaire results revealed that students in both modes valued speaking practice, though offline learners benefited more from face-to-face interaction and corrective feedback. It can be concluded that offline learning remains more effective for improving speaking achievement among junior high school students, though online learning still provides meaningful exposure and flexibility when properly guided.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the skimming technique on students’ reading comprehension in TOEFL tests at the sixth semester of the English Education Study Program of UNIMUDA Sorong. Many students struggle to answer reading comprehension questions efficiently due to limited vocabulary, slow reading pace, and difficulty identifying main ideas. The skimming technique, which involves reading quickly to grasp the general meaning of a text, was implemented to help students improve their reading speed and comprehension accuracy. This research employed a pre-experimental quantitative design using a one-group pre-test and post-test model. The population consisted of all sixth-semester English education students, and a class of 25 students was selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a TOEFL reading comprehension test consisting of 50 multiple-choice items. The pre-test was conducted before applying the skimming technique, and the post-test was administered after four treatment sessions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test to determine the significance of improvement. The findings showed a notable increase in students’ reading comprehension scores after the treatment. The mean score improved from 52.84 on the pre-test to 72.36 on the post-test, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that the skimming technique had a significant positive effect on students’ TOEFL reading performance. The skimming technique effectively enhanced students’ reading speed and comprehension ability. It can be used as an alternative strategy to help English education students improve their TOEFL test performance and reading proficiency in general.
