Abstract

The financial performance of national commercial banks and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2020 and 2024 will be examined and contrasted in this study. Three main criteria are used to assess financial performance: operational efficiency, credit risk, and profitability. Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Assets (ROA), and Net Interest Margin (NIM) are used to evaluate profitability. Non-performing loans (NPLs) serve as a stand-in for credit risk, and the operating expenses to operating income ratio (BOPO) is used to gauge operational effectiveness. The research uses secondary data from audited annual financial statements and takes a quantitative method with a comparative design. Eight banks make up the sample, including four state-owned and four national private banks, for a total of 40 observations. Descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the independent sample t-test, and the Mann-Whitney U test were used to evaluate the data. The results show that, across all examined metrics, state-owned banks and national private banks do not significantly differ in terms of their financial performance. This finding implies that ownership structure is not the main factor influencing banking performance. The study has consequences for bank management and regulators in formulating strategic choices and regulations meant to preserve banking stability and enhance performance. It also lays the groundwork for further studies that will broaden the study by introducing other variables and methodological techniques.

Abstract

The current research aims to develop and validate an ethnopedagogical material based on Ende traditional house miniatures to support elementary school students' mathematics achievement in Kupang, Indonesia. A research and development design was used involving experts, teachers, and students. Two experts are rating the content validity of the media; a teacher and ten students are confirming the practicality of the media. A survey instrument was used to examine the content validity and practicality of the media, and a test was used to examine students' mathematics achievement. The data analysis was carried out in JAMOVI software, involving the content validity index and descriptive analysis. Preliminary observations indicate the need to develop and implement appropriate and accessible learning media to support both teaching practices and students’ mathematics achievement. The result confirms the initial content validity of the media, shown through the expert agreement that confirms the structure of the media, alignment of the media with syllabi and material, and the miniature of the media. The finding also confirms the preliminary practicality of the media through teachers' agreement on the media's attractiveness, usability, and content clarity. Other than that, the students agree on the preliminary practicality of use of the media, interest and feelings about using the media, and the effect of the media on their comprehension and ability to answer mathematics questions. Furthermore, the mean difference between the pre-test and post-test of students in using the media indicates the initial improvement of the students' scores. Therefore, this media is recommended for use in primary-level mathematics education to improve both teaching practices and student learning outcomes. However, this research did not use experimental design to test the empirical effect of the media. Hence, future research is suggested to examine the media through a more robust research design.

Abstract

Abstract

Infectious diseases are a problem for public health and can increase patient morbidity and mortality. Bacteria that cause infectious diseases include Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can cause resistance problems and the effects of undesirable drugs. Jamblang (Syzygium cumini) leaf extract can be used as a natural antibacterial drug. There is a study showing the content of active compounds in the leaves of Jamblang are Flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins are components of chemical compounds that are suspected as antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Jamblang leaf extract against Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis bacteria. The method used is the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration method using well diffusion. The study used Jamblang leaf extract with various concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, the test bacteria used were Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis, using positive control of chloramphenicol, and negative control of 10% DMSO. The results showed that Jamblang leaf extract can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis bacteria in all concentrations. In the Kruskall Wallis Non-Parametric statistical test the two bacteria obtained P <0.05.In Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria the value of P = 0.031, and Proteus mirabilis bacteria the value of P = 0.015. These results indicate a real difference in this study.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that occurs due to hyperglycemia. In Indonesia it self, DM has a relatively high prevalence, this is evidenced because Indonesia is in the category of the top 10 countries in the world. The type of research used is descriptive research, namely identifying bacteria and testing sensitivity on wounds of diabetics with diabetes mellitus by performing cultures that are examined macroscopically and microscopically with the number of respondents obtained by as many as 17 people in 4 weeks. The results of this study obtained the prevalence of the types of bacteria that are (82.35%) gram-negative and (17.65%) gram-positive. The gram negatives included Proteus mirabilis (17.65%), Proteus morgani (5.88%), Citrobacter diversus (23.54%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (11.76%), Escherichia coli (5.88%), Enterobacter agglomerans (5.88%) and Enterobacter cloacae (11.76%). While the gram-positive include Staphylococcus aureus (17.65%) with antibiotic sensitivity results whose sensitivity is in the yellow zone, which is around 50-75%, namely ciprofloxacin and meropenem antibiotics are in the green zone, which is around 76-100%.

Abstract

This article explores the contributions of three classical Muslim scholars—Al-Khawarizmi, Al-Biruni, and Ibn al-Haytham—as representations of Islamic intellectualism in the fields of science and technology. Using a historical and descriptive-analytical approach, the study traces the pivotal roles these figures played in laying the foundations of various modern scientific disciplines, including mathematics, astronomy, optics, and the scientific method. Al-Khawarizmi is recognized as the pioneer of algebra and algorithmic thinking; Al-Biruni as a forerunner of empirical research and intercultural religious studies; and Ibn al-Haytham as the founder of experimental methodology in optics. The findings demonstrate that all three exemplified a distinctively Islamic model of knowledge—one that harmonizes rational inquiry with spiritual consciousness. Their intellectual legacies affirm that scientific achievement in Islam is inseparable from ethical values and transcendent goals. This article advocates the revitalization of classical Islamic intellectualism within contemporary science education to cultivate a humanistic, Tawhid-based scientific paradigm. The study also critiques the persisting dichotomy between religious and scientific knowledge that continues to hinder the development of an integrated Islamic epistemology.
