Abstract

The Basiacuong tradition is one of the oral cultural heritages of the Kampar (Ocu) people in Riau, which is rich in philosophical, ethical, and religious values. This study aims to analyze the expressions in the Ocu language that appear in Basiacuong practices using an ethnolinguistic approach. The research data were obtained through audiovisual observations of Basiacuong videos published in digital media, then transcribed and translated into Indonesian. The analysis was carried out using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman (1994) through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate the existence of eight main utterances that include proverbs, traditional pantun, advice, religious expressions, and social and philosophical expressions. These utterances function to instill moral values, strengthen social ethics, entertain, and legitimize customs through Islamic teachings. This study confirms that the Basiacuong tradition is not merely an oral performance, but a means of inheriting cultural identity and an educational medium that remains relevant in maintaining social harmony in the Kampar community.

Abstract

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology present both opportunities and challenges for education. On the one hand, AI can enrich the learning process; on the other hand, it has the potential to shift human values in education. This study aims to describe teachers' efforts to humanize learning in the AI era, particularly in fostering students' learning awareness and independent thinking at SMAN 2 Singingi Hilir. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted following the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers act as facilitators and inspirators in technology-based learning. Humanization of learning is realized through instilling the values of reflection, empathy, and responsibility in the use of AI. In addition, teachers foster students' independent thinking through project-based learning and reflective discussions that balance digital intelligence with moral values. This process helps students become critical, independent, and ethical learners amidst the digitalization of education.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of creator teachers on TikTok as a form of digital professionalism that represents the integration of ethical values, aesthetics, and educational philosophy. The focus of the research lies in how teachers negotiate moral responsibility and creative expression in the algorithmic culture of social media. The aim of this research is to analyze the philosophical meaning behind teachers' digital representations as well as interpret how moral and aesthetic values are reflected in their pedagogical practices. The method used is digital netnography with four stages: online observation, digital documentation, audience interaction analysis, and researcher reflection. A total of eight teacher accounts were analyzed with a total of 80 videos using a categorization of themes that focused on ethics, aesthetics, and professionalism. The results showed that 62.5% of the content was educational and featured learning innovations, while the other 37.5% contained elements of entertainment and social interaction. High audience interaction shows public appreciation for the creativity and integrity of teachers. Popularity is not solely generated by algorithms, but by the appreciation of moral values and pedagogical beauty in the actions of teachers. Based on the framework of arete and phronesis from Aristotle and the concept of aesthetic experience from Dewey (1934), this study concludes that the digital professionalism of teachers is a form of reflective praxis that combines ethical responsibility and creative expression. This research makes a theoretical contribution by integrating digital netnography and educational philosophy, and shows that teachers in the digital era play the role of moral and creative agents who maintain the dignity of their profession in the algorithmic space.

Abstract

Education is fundamentally a process of developing the whole person, not simply the transfer of knowledge. This research aims to examine the essence of education as an effort to humanize humans through a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature study method. This concept emphasizes that education plays a central role in developing students' potential, awareness, and human values. This study explores the thoughts of figures such as Paulo Freire, Ki Hajar Dewantara, and John Dewey, who positioned education as a path to liberation and humanity. The analysis shows that true education must be oriented toward developing human values, morals, and character to avoid becoming trapped in the process of dehumanization amidst technological developments and modernization. Through literature review and thematic analysis, this research found that humanistic education must integrate rationality, morality, and spirituality to form complete human beings. Thus, education must be understood as a continuous process of humanization to build a civilized, ethical, and just society.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum policy, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), marks a significant paradigm shift in the Indonesian educational landscape. This curriculum emphasizes student-centered learning, flexibility, and the development of competencies according to students' interests and talents. This study aims to critically analyze the relevance of the philosophy of progressivism, pioneered by John Dewey, as a conceptual foundation for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a systematic literature review method on 15 Sinta indexed scientific journals (minimum Sinta 4) published between 2018-2024, this study examines the alignment between the core principles of progressivism such as experience as the basis of learning (learning by doing), the teacher's role as a facilitator, problem-solving, and democratic education and the essence of the Merdeka Curriculum policy. The analysis reveals a strong alignment between the two concepts. Project-based learning, content differentiation, and formative assessment within the Merdeka Curriculum are concrete manifestations of progressive ideas. However, this study also identifies implementation challenges, such as teacher readiness, school culture transformation, and resource availability, which can hinder the internalization of this philosophy at the practical level. It is concluded that a deep understanding of the philosophy of progressivism by stakeholders, especially educational managers and teachers, is crucial to ensure that the Merdeka Curriculum becomes not just an administrative change, but also a substantive and sustainable pedagogical transformation.

Abstract

This research examines cases of extortion and threats between young couples through social media in Bengkalis. The analysis is conducted from the perspectives of forensic linguistics, semantics, and pragmatics. The research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The data consists of language use in the Expert Witness Interview Report, specifically messages exchanged via WhatsApp. The findings indicate that the perpetrator engaged in both extortion and threats against the victim. The extortion involved financial demands, causing the victim to experience insecurity and trauma. Additionally, these actions violate Article 368, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code regarding extortion and threats against another person, as well as Article 45b of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law, which addresses extortion and threats carried out online. Based on these findings, strict legal action is necessary, along with increased awareness of the importance of responsible social media use.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the semantic shift in language within digital culture through the perspectives of linguistics and the philosophy of language. The focus of the study is directed toward the phenomenon of memes, emojis, abbreviations, and popular expressions that have rapidly developed on social media platforms and often deviate from their standard meanings. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using content analysis combined with a philosophical literature review. Data were obtained from various digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X, as well as relevant academic sources. The results indicate that semantic shifts in digital language occur through patterns of meaning expansion, metaphorization, polysemy, and linguistic innovation. From the standpoint of the philosophy of language, these findings align with Wittgenstein's meaning is use theory and Austin's speech act theory, both of which emphasize that meaning is determined by the practical use of language and speech acts within social contexts. Thus, the changes in meaning in digital culture are not merely linguistic but also reflect the social, cultural, and technological dynamics that shape modern communication patterns.

Abstract

Abstract

The circular economy has emerged as an alternative solution to the linear economic model that focuses on unsustainable resource consumption and waste generation. In the global context facing an environmental crisis, this concept offers a more sustainable approach by prioritizing efficient resource use, material recovery, and waste reduction. This article examines the philosophy of the circular economy as an ethical reflection that balances economic growth with ecological wisdom. Through an in-depth literature review, the article highlights the evolution of the circular economy concept, the challenges of its implementation, and the social and ethical dimensions that must be considered to achieve the goals of the circular economy in a just and inclusive manner. The philosophy behind the circular economy invites us to reflect on the linear economic growth paradigm that has dominated the global production and consumption system, which in reality often contributes to severe environmental degradation. This research reveals that while the circular economy offers great potential for achieving efficiency and sustainability, its implementation requires serious attention to aspects of ethics, social justice, and intergenerational responsibility. In this context, this article aims to delve deeper into how circular economy principles can be integrated with ecological policies that respect planetary limitations and human well-being, and to provide guidance for the development of more sustainable and equitable policies in the future.
