Abstract

This study addresses the challenge of deficient solfeggio proficiency amongst Year 11 students at SMAN 01 Jagoi Babang, a limitation that invariably leads to suboptimal musical performance, particularly for individuals with diminished pitch perception. The primary objective was to rigorously evaluate the efficacy of the SAPE (Senang Aktif Piano Efektif / Happy Active Piano Effective) interactive media in enhancing solfeggio capabilities within the music curriculum. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilised a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control-group design within a two-cycle Classroom Action Research framework. This methodology facilitated the precise measurement of proficiency trajectories through comparative analysis. The participant cohort comprised 36 students identified with pitch-perception difficulties via a diagnostic assessment, who were subsequently allocated to homogeneous experimental and control groups through purposive sampling. Data were systematically gathered via a pretest-posttest practical examination targeting sight-reading, ear training, and sight-singing, along with a Likert-scale questionnaire to capture affective responses. The findings demonstrate that the experimental group, utilising the SAPE intervention, achieved consistently superior improvements in solfeggio proficiency compared to the control group subjected to conventional pedagogical methods. Furthermore, SAPE functions as a highly efficacious multimodal instructional tool, fostering active engagement, augmenting self-confidence, and enabling independent, offline practice. Ultimately, this study substantiates that innovative interactive media, particularly when integrating local wisdom, serve as a critical determinant in the successful delivery of secondary school music education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of the Independent Training feature in the Teachers and Education Personnel Space (RGTK) in optimizing the performance of elementary school teachers in West Pontianak. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation with teachers, principals, and officials from the Education Office. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the utilization of RGTK is still suboptimal and tends to be administrative, with external motivations dominating the platform's use. Inhibiting factors include time constraints, low intrinsic motivation, and a lack of mentoring and institutional support. The role of principals and the Education Office has not fully supported the optimization of RGTK's sustainable use. Nevertheless, RGTK has the potential to improve teacher performance, especially in the aspect of lesson planning, but its implementation remains inconsistent. This study confirms that optimizing digital platforms for teacher professional development requires systemic support, reflective leadership, and strengthening a culture of independent learning.

Abstract

International standard evaluation, PISA, one of which tests problem solving and literacy skills in the Uncertainty and data content on the topic of statistics, until now Indonesia is still below the OECD average. This study is here to describe how the ability of prospective teachers in problem solving is based on the Polya stages. This research needs to be done, where students who will become teachers should have national and international standardized abilities so that Indonesian education can compete globally. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative which describes the problem solving of the research subjects based on the Polya steps, namely understanding the problem, making a plan, implementing the plan and looking back. The work data from the PISA question instrument that has been adapted, modified according to the surrounding culture and has been validated by experts. In addition, the interview technique was carried out based on interview guidelines developed from the indicators of each Polya step. The research subjects were semester VII students who were selected based on the fulfillment of a greater credit load which could provide definite information on the output of prospective educators in the future. The results of the study showed that from the 4 Polya steps of the 4 questions analyzed, it was found that high group students had very good problem solving. Meanwhile, the students in the medium group are divided into two categories, one is almost at low ability and the other is in the medium group. One sample of the medium group has moderate obstacles in step 2 for questions 2 and 4 and the other is only constrained by number 2. For the low group, it is almost similar to the medium group, the difference lies in the implementation of steps 2,3 and 4 on polya which are incomplete except for number 4.

Abstract

Understanding how university students grasp modular arithmetic in real-world contexts remains underexplored, particularly regarding their use of cognitive pathways in solving contextualized problems. This study aims to examine the cognitive pathways utilized by mathematics education students when solving context-based modular arithmetic problems. 32 undergraduate students in the early stage of a mathematics education program who had successfully completed course in Number Theory were asked to solve three real-world-based problems involving work cycle patterns, container multiples, and congruence systems. The tasks were designed to represent fundamental real-world structures of modular arithmetic and to explore how contextual representations influence students’ cognitive pathways. The analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach through Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA) to identify five key cognitive pathways: quantitative reasoning, linguistic processing, working memory, pattern recognition, and cognitive flexibility. The result show that the first three pathways were consistently used across all task, indicating stable patterns in numerical reasoning, language processing, and information management. In contrast, pattern recognition and flexibility varied depending on how the problems were presented. Contextual narratives encouraged more reflective and adaptive thinking, whereas symbolic forms tended to limit exploration and reduce conceptual engagement. These results highlight the importance of problem design in supporting diverse cognitive approaches. The study's practical implications include the development of assessments and learning strategies that foster flexible and meaningful thinking, especially when understanding abstract mathematical concepts. Future research is encouraged to explore the integration of digital technologies and multiple representations to enhance students' cognitive flexibility.
