Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of elementary school teachers regarding students' critical thinking skills in learning Indonesian. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data in this study were elementary school teachers. Data collection techniques by distributing questionnaires consisting of closed questions and open questions. Data analysis techniques in the form of data collection, data reduction, data display, and inference. The results of the study based on the results of data collection obtained as many as 56.92% of respondents strongly agree, 41.53% of respondents agree, and 1.53% of respondents disagree regarding the importance of critical thinking in SE students. Six aspects of critical thinking, namely interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, exposition, and self-regulation, the results obtained are 43.84% of respondents strongly agree, 55.38% of respondents agree, and 0.78% of respondents disagree. This figure shows that the teacher's response strongly agrees and agrees with the six aspects contained in critical thinking. In addition, the teacher also applies the six aspects of critical thinking in learning Indonesian in elementary schools, so that the process of critical thinking has begun to be given to elementary school students.

Abstract

Kebebasan berpikir dan berpendapat merupakan sifat alami manusia yang terbentuk dari berbagai macam aspek, salah satunya aspek pendidikan dan pengalaman. Seiring dengan berkembangnya teknologi dan media sosial sebagai salah satu media untuk menuangkan hasil buah pikiran manusia telah melahirkan berbagai macam kasus kebebasan berpikir dan berpendapat yang keluar dari norma-norma kesopanan. Oleh karena itu penting untuk mengetahui bagaimana kebebasan berpikir dan berpendapat secara baik dan benar. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perspektif humanisme Carl Ransom Rogers terhadap kebebasan berpikir dan berpendapat pada kata-kata bijak Buya Hamka. Peneliti menjadikan kata-kata bijak Buya Hamka sebagai objek penelitian karena Buya Hamka adalah ulama yang teguh pendirian dan tegas dalam bersikap namun tetap berpijak pada hal-hal yang dianggapnya benar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode analisis deskriptif. Data yang didapat dianalisis berdasarkan perspektif humanisme Carl Ransom Rogers. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukan unsur-unsur humanisme menurut perspektif Carl Ransom Rogers dalam kata-kata bijak Buya Hamka yang mengindikasikan bahwa Buya Hamka memiliki kebebasan dalam berpikir dan berpendapat selama hal yang dibelanya benar.

Abstract

This study aims to find out about teacher ethics from the view of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The relationship between teacher ethics in educational development and the role of teacher ethics in the present. This paper will also discuss the ethical values that are taught according to Ki Hadjar Dewantara and the relevance of implementation of teacher ethics from the perspective of Ki Hadjar Dewantara in the millennium era. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach method. The research found three ethical principles of exemplary Ki Hajar Dewantara Ing Ngarso Sun Tulodo, In Madyo Mbangun Karso, Tut Wuri Handayani has such great impact if indeed the teachers carry out and apply the three ethical terms above from KHD in the millennium era. That an ethical teacher is a person of good character, that is, who can fulfil his true role and mandate as an educator. Teachers not only teach academic subjects but are encouraged to be able to provide motivation, encouragement and enthusiasm to their students in achieving their goals. From the perspective of Ki Hajar Dewantara, if ethics are applied in the way of life humans will come to the goal of a life of peace and happiness.

Abstract

This research discusses the existentialism views of Sartre in the main character of the comic One Piece by Oda Eichiro. Existentialism is a philosophical movement that focuses on the individual consciousness and freedom of choice of human beings. In this research, a qualitative descriptive research method is used to analyze the character structure of the main character in the One Piece series. This research includes an analysis of the background, motivation, personality, behavior, and dialogue of the character. The principles of Sartre's existentialism found in the main character of One Piece are subjectivity, responsibility, and freedom. This research shows that the main characters in the One Piece comic reflect Sartre's existentialism views through the actions and decisions he takes.

Abstract

This study discusses how an animated character presents a concept of optimism that usually exists in humans. This research is descriptive qualitative research, in which the researcher examines the attitude of Arrietty's character which is in accordance with the concept of optimism. The data source for this research comes from an animated film made by Studio Ghibli entitled "The Secret World of Arrietty". The technique used for data collection in this study is the note-taking technique. Then for data processing it is grouped based on the dimensions of optimism proposed by Seligman. And the result is that Arrietty has all three dimensions of optimism but leans more towards the dimension of permanence.

Abstract

Pragmatism is a philosophy pioneered by Charles S. Pierce and developed by William James and John Dewey. This philosophy emphasizes the practical value and usefulness of truth. One of the figures who helped develop this understanding is John Dewey who has another term for pragmatism, namely instrumentalism. He formulated three concepts in instrumentalism, namely the temporalism aspect which emphasizes real action or movement, the futurism aspect which encourages looking at the future or future, and the meliorism aspect which states that something big can be changed for the better with energy. The application of pragmatism can also be reflected in a work, one of which is an anecdote. In short, an anecdote can be referred to as a humorous story that aims to entertain its readers. The main purpose is to satirize or criticize something that is considered unbalanced or wrong in the environment. Pragmatism can be clearly reflected in the practical purpose of anecdotes when examined based on the three concepts of instrumentalism. Thus, anecdotes can be said to be true based on John Dewey's pragmatism perspective. This research is a qualitative research with library research technique. The data used is secondary data from various literatures that are in accordance with this study. The data is researched by reading and analyzing various credible and relevant literature with the object of this research study.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the aspects of an individual's writing process that play an important role in improving the quality of writing products, as well as the role of individual cognition on the quality of writing products. A factorial analysis design was used in this study. The results of this study, first, the aspects of spontaneous revision and vocabulary revision affect the quality of writing. In addition, it was also found that students with better reading ability tended to do more intensive online revision. Second, the process aspects that affect the quality of students' narrative writing are spelling ability and the number of revisions. In addition, students' cognitive abilities also have a significant influence on their writing ability. The aspects of cognitive ability that influence are oral language ability, reading, vocabulary selection, capitalization, and spelling. The process aspects that play an important role in improving narrative writing skills are spelling and reading cognitive abilities. The processes that contributed significantly to improving writing quality were oral language ability, attention, and working memory.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perkembangan tata kelola Program Studi Linguistik S3, kurikulum yang digunakan pada prodi itu, dan respons  mahasiswa terhadap mata kuliah interdisiplin di bidang linguistik. Kenny (1995) menegaskan, mata kuliah interdisiplin sangat  penting untuk menghadapi situasi yang semakin kompleks, tidak menentu, dan ambigu, maka studi interdisiplin perlu terus dibinakan kepada para mahasiswa.  Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode Predictive Content Analysis dari  Neuendorf (2002) karena metode itu  bertujuan memprediksi beberapa pengaruh atau akibat dari sejumlah pesan terhadap hal lain. Data dikumpulkan dari profil program studi, kurikulum, dan respon mahasiswa terhadap kajian interdisiplin di bidang linguistik.  Program Studi Linguistik jenjang S3 yang menjadi sumber data adalah prodi yang diselenggarakan oleh 7  Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Badan Hukum (PTN BH) di Indonesia. Hasil analisis data menyimpulkan, tata kelola prodi linguistik pada ke-7 PTN BH cukup baik, sehingga diprediksi mampu menghasilkan lulusan yang menguasai landasan filosofis dan teoretis serta mampu mengimplementasikan pendekatan interdisipliner dalam mengatasi masalah yang berkaitan dengan bahasa. Mereka berpandangan bahwa  studi interdisipliner akan sangat bermanfaat bagi mereka dalam menghadapi tantangan dunia global. Untuk itu, program studi membekali para mahasiswanya dengan beban studi yang berkisar antara 42 – 53 SKS.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sincerity aspect of Indonesian and Korean advertisements through multimodal analysis. This study uses a content analysis research method using the FCB Grid Model on several products, namely fast food, tobacco, and telecommunications. The selection of ad samples was carried out based on the FCB Grid Model. The results of the study show that some products such as tobacco and fast food are included in the category of products that involve low emotions and thoughts when consumers consider these products. However, telecommunications products fall into the category of products that involve high rational thinking skills, thus requiring serious consideration from consumers. Other findings show that there are several semantic and pragmatic expressions that make consumers confused in choosing a product. The most frequent violations found in products are false expressions and explanations that lead consumers astray. In addition, other violations are expression omissions, exaggerated expressions, fictitious, and omission of important information, thus making consumers feel lost in choosing products.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the lingual form which consists of lexical and grammatical forms, the cultural meaning in the naming of typical Cianjur batik motifs accompanied by the philosophical values contained in typical Cianjur batik motifs. The research method used was the descriptive qualitative method and ethnolinguistic theory. Sources of data were obtained from literature reviews in the form of journal articles and online media sources. The main data source of the research consists of the lexicon of words and phrases for naming Cianjur batik motifs and the philosophical meanings found in Cianjur batik motifs. The data analysis method used was the intralingual and extralingual equivalent methods. The results of the study found lingual unit forms consisting of monomorphemes, affixations, phrases, and acronyms. Cultural meanings were in the form of cultural elements that describe the lexicon of typical Cianjur batik motifs. Then the philosophical values obtained were moral philosophical values, social philosophical values, cultural/customs philosophical values, and historical education. The results found in this study, namely the lexicon of typical Cianjur batik names based on lingual forms consisting of basic word forms (monomorphemic), affixed word forms (polymorphemic), phrase forms, and acronyms. In this form, there were also several categories of words and phrases that contain grammatical meanings such as categories of nouns and verbs. The cultural meaning that describes the characteristics and culture, social, history, and natural environment of the naming of the batik motifs. The naming lexicon of typical Cianjur batik motifs has a philosophical value consisting of moral values, social values, and cultural values.Keywords: lexicon, batik motifs, etnolinguistics, philosophical values
