Abstract

This research is background by a low mathematical ability of students’ reasoning and learning activities in mathematics. Therefore, the aim of this research is to increase students’ reasoning and learning activities with the implementation of problem solving learning model. Type of research is classroom action research which have a cycle model consist of four components, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. This research conducted in two cycles that consisting of four meetings. At each cycle student activities during the learning process were observed, and at the end of each cycle a test of learning outcomes was given. The research is carried out with 30 fifth grade students from a public elementary school in semester 2 of the 2019/2020 school year. The instruments used were observation, and field notes, interviews and test results. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using qualitative analysis, analyzing the collection of data until all data has been collected. The data is reduced based on the problem under study, followed by the presentation of the data and finally the conclusion or verification. The results show that fifth grade students’ mathematicalreasoning and learning activities increase after the implementation of problem solving learning model.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to identify the impact of Team Assisted Individualization models on the academic results of primary school students on the topic "environment is our best friend." The above research was quantitative and employs a quasi-experimental situation design. The design of a non-equivalent Control Group is being used in the study. The grouping sampling method had been used to sample the population, which was composed of 3 SD in Cluster I, Kec. IV, Jurai. The study was undertaken at Class VA had 16 students in it as an experiment group and Class VB had 15 students in it as a control group. Preconditioned test results in the form of normality, homogeneity tests, and hypothetical tests using the t-test were also used to analyze the data for this research. The experimental class's pre-test average was 46,25, and the post- test average was 80,5 after implementing the Team Assisted Individualization learning models. Meanwhile, after being taught using the traditional approach of 64,13, the control class received an average of 49,06 There is a pre-test and a post-test. Then there's the t- test both had a significant level of 0,05. This ttable = 2,045 > tcount = 3,605. It can be concluded that the Team Assisted Individualization model has an impact on students' learning outcomes when it comes to the topic "environment is our best friend.

Abstract

The development of science and technology has led to numerous changes in the world of education. Higher education, as one of the professional institutions, is obliged to determine the methods, teaching systems, and evaluation of policies that have been enacted. The study aims to describe the urgency and responses of PGSD students to the development of communication skills-based modules for PGSD students. The type of data obtained from qualitative and quantitative data, as reflected in the results of questionnaires distributed at two universities in Padang city. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was found that on average, PGSD students agreed on the use of modules based on communication skills. The dominant module procurement is more likely to use printed modules. The availability of modules is expected to enable students to learn independently, explore and evaluate their abilities, increase their interests and creativity, develop critical thinking skills, and communicate orally and in writing.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop Canva-based video learning media for learning. This research is a research development study or Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. After analyzing the facilities and infrastructure, curriculum, needs, and materials, the researcher designed Canva-based video learning media, which was then validated by material experts, language experts, and media experts. The results showed that the Canva-based learning video media is very valid with a score of 96% by material experts, 98% by language experts, and 91% by media experts, with an average validity of 95%. The practicality test results showed that the learning video media is very practical with a score of 96% by teachers and 93% by students at SD N 02 Pasaman, as well as 93% by teachers and 92% by students at SD N 09 Pasaman. The effectiveness test results showed that the learning video media is very effective to use at SDN 02 Pasaman with an N-Gain score of 86% (high) and at SDN 09 Pasaman with an N-Gain score of 80% (high). Therefore, the Canva-based learning video media is stated to be valid, practical, and effective for use in Pancasila education learning in the fourth-grade elementary school.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning activity and critical thinking skills of students in science learning in elementary schools. Students tend to be passive and lack understanding of the material presented. One effort that can be made is to apply the Guided Inquiry learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on students' learning activities and critical thinking skills in science learning. The research conducted was a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely the control group using conventional methods and the experimental group using the guided inquiry learning model. Data were collected through pretest and posttest. The results showed that the experimental group that applied the guided inquiry learning model experienced a significant increase compared to the control group using conventional learning. After being treated using the inquiry learning model, learning activities increased by 30.87% and critical thinking skills increased by 73.52%. The t-test showed a significant difference (p = 0.000) both in learning activities and critical thinking skills. For the correlation test, it was obtained as much as 0.832 and the percentage of the influence of the learning activity variable and critical thinking ability was 69.20%. Then in the N-gain analysis, the learning activity of the experimental group had an N-gain of 0.76 in the high category while the control group data was obtained as much as 0.45 which was in the medium category. The N-Gain analysis of critical thinking ability for the experimental group was 0.76 in the high category, while for the control class it was 0.4988 in the medium category.

Abstract

The focus of the research investigated the influence of the PjBL-based STEAM approach on the high order thinking skills of students in science learning on sound and light wave materials. The research conducted was a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely the control group using conventional methods and the experimental group using the PjBL-based STEAM approach. The results showed that the experimental group that applied the PjBL-based STEAM approach experienced a significant improvement compared to the control group that used conventional learning. The increase in high order thinking skills in the experimental group was 67.32%. In contrast, the control group also showed an improvement, but in a low percentage of 28.43%. The t-test showed a significant difference (p = 0.000), and the N-gain analysis showed that the experimental group had a higher N-gain (69.3%) compared to the control group (29.3%). So that the application of the PjBL-based STEAM approach is more effective in improving high order thinking skills compared to conventional learning methods.

Abstract

Low learning motivation among elementary school students remains a major challenge in science education. This study aimed to investigate the effect of using ice breaking activities on students’ learning motivation in science classes. A quasi-experimental design was employed with two groups of fifth-grade students in an elementary school in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. The findings revealed that the average motivation score of the experimental group increased from 49.84 (pre-test) to 82.63 (post-test), while the control group showed a smaller improvement. The t-test result (t = 3.84, p < 0.05) indicated a significant effect of ice breaking on students’ learning motivation. These findings suggest that incorporating ice breaking techniques can enhance students’ engagement and focus during science learning, making lessons more dynamic and enjoyable. Future research may explore different types of ice breaking activities and their impact on other cognitive or affective learning outcomes.
