Abstract

The shift to renewable energy faces the challenge of intermittency, which requires effective Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Sand-Based Thermal Energy Storage (TES) presents a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution, although it suffers from the low thermal conductivity of sand. This research seeks to enhance the thermal efficacy of sand batteries by incorporating waste iron shavings from lathes as a composite material and examining its suitability for pilot-plant scale heating.A 96-liter sand battery container was used with varying mixtures of iron waste at 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% relative to the volume of sea sand. The charging process used a 4000-watt power supply for simulation and 4000 Wp solar panels for validation. The discharge process was implemented to provide heat to a copra drying oven. The findings indicate that incorporating waste iron significantly improves the heat transfer rate and temperature uniformity during charging. The composition with 30% iron (P-30) demonstrated the most favorable thermal properties. During discharge tests, the system maintained the copra drying oven temperature within 56-57°C for over 12 hours, meeting the required drying temperature standards. This study proves that sand batteries with a waste iron composite represent an effective, cost-effective, and sustainable TES solution for thermal applications in the context of renewable energy.

Abstract

The Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) aims to alleviate poverty and improve access to education and healthcare for underprivileged families in Indonesia. In Gunungsari Village, Mandalawangi Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency, where most residents are low-income farmers and breeders, PKH faces challenges in accurately identifying eligible recipients due to the limitations of manual selection, which is prone to subjectivity and human error. This study explores the application of the Preference Selection Index (PSI) method to improve the objectivity and accuracy of beneficiary targeting. From 973 households, five were selected as a representative sample for manual validation. Twelve socio-economic indicators were used to assess eligibility. The PSI method systematically calculates preference weights across multiple criteria, including income, employment, housing, assets, and infrastructure access, generating a ranking of the most eligible candidates. The highest score obtained was 3.188, identifying Family C as the top candidate. The method showed strong agreement with expert judgment, as evidenced by a Spearman Rank Correlation of 0.9. These findings suggest that PSI enhances the fairness and efficiency of the PKH selection process and supports its digital transformation. This study offers a replicable model for improving governance and targeting in rural social assistance programs.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Post-COVID-19 syndrome can be seen from the radiological findings on the chest X-ray (CXR). However, limited studies compared CXR changes in post-COVID-19 patients based on their severity.  Methods: Thirty-three post-hospitalized COVID-19 patients who came to the Long COVID Clinic at UGM Academic Hospital were divided into mild-moderate and severe-critical groups. The CXR were taken during hospital admission, in the 4th week, and in the 8th week. CXR images were assessed with the Brixia Score method. Results: The Brixia score in the mild-moderate group (n = 17) and severe-critical (n = 16) group showed a trend of change, which increased in the 4th week and decreased in the 8th week. However, there were no significant changes between the two groups during hospital admission, in the 4th week, and in the 8th week. The Brixia score during hospital admission and in the 8th-week follow-up in the mild-moderate group was significantly lower than that of the severe-critical group. Clinically, the mean Brixia score in the mild-moderate group ranges from mild pneumonia, while the severe-critical group ranges from moderate pneumonia. Conclusion: There is no significant resolution of the CXR until the 8th-week follow-up in post-COVID-19 infection patients with mild-moderate and severe-critical severity. However, the CXR during hospital admission and the 8th week is better in post-COVID-19 infection patients with mild-moderate severity. Abstract

Classification is the process of creating a model to recognize patterns with the aim of mapping them into specific classes and predicting classes. Naive Bayes is a popular, simple and effective classification method with a probabilistic approach based on Bayes' Theorem. The assumption of independence in this method sometimes makes the classification performance decrease. Correlated naïve bayes corrects this assumption by considering attribute correlations, while SMOTE is used to overcome data imbalances. This approach is important in medical data analysis, one of which is predicting ischemic heart disease. This study aims to compare the performance of Naïve Bayes and Correlated Naïve Bayes methods in the classification of ischemic heart disease, with the application of SMOTE to overcome data imbalance. The analysis was carried out using ischemic heart disease data at the Integrated Heart Center of Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Makassar City, for the period of July 2021 to July 2022. Naïve Bayes managed to classify 66 data with 75% accuracy, 94% precision, and 62% sensitivity. Meanwhile, Correlated Naïve Bayes showed better performance by correctly classifying 77 data, resulting in 87.5% accuracy, 86% precision, and 94% sensitivity. These results show that Correlated Naïve Bayes has a superior performance in classifying ischemic heart disease.

Abstract

For Muslims, marriage is not just a demand for physical and spiritual needs as living beings, but more than that, marriage is a medium to perfect their religion. The dimension of worship is very thick in marriage, and there are many evidences/nash from both the Qur'an and hadith that discuss about marriage. In the Qur'an Surah An-Nisa verse 21, Allah said that marriage is kind of mitsaqan ghalidzan, that is a strong and great agreement not only between men and women and their families but also with Allah SWT. Marriage problems are growing from time to time and lead to high divorce rates from year to year, shows that the meaning of marriage is only understood as akad/agreement of handover.  Therefore, this paper discusses the importance of understanding about the meaning of mitsaqan ghalidzan so that Muslims will understand more about purpose and meaning of marriage, so that they can better prepare themselves to carry out a real marriage as their nature for humans.
