Abstract

This study aims to: (1) find out the quality of reciprocal teaching with recitation and self assessment on the achievement of mathematical representation abilities, (2) describe the ability of mathematical representation in terms of student learning independence, and (3) determine the effect of learning independence on students' mathematical representation abilities in reciprocal teaching with recitation and self assessment. This research is a mixed method type of concurrent embedded design type. The subject of this study was determined based on the learning independence score using a learning independence questionnaire in the eighth grade students of MTs Urwatil Wutsqo Jepara. Data collection techniques are using tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The quality of learning is analyzed based on three quality categories, namely planning, implementation and assessment. The effect of learning independence on mathematical representation ability was analyzed based on simple linear regression test. The results showed that (1) the three domain qualities of learning were categorized as good, so it was concluded that the quality of reciprocal teaching with recitation and self-assessment of mathematical representation abilities was good. (2) students with high learning independence are able to master all mathematical representation indicators well compared to students with moderate and low learning independence; (3) learning independence has a positive effect on the ability of mathematical representation on reciprocal teaching with recitation and self assessment.

Abstract

This study aimed to testing and analyze the effectiveness of the 7E-learning cycle learning model on the derived function learning. The research design used was a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, also known as mixed methods. The model combines quantitative and qualitative methods unbalanced and in one time. Then do the overall interpretation of data analysis to get a conclusion and suggestions. Quantitative research in phase 2, the research used is experimental research using quasi-experimental designs. The researcher chose quasi-experimental designs with non-equivalent control group design. This study there are two groups selected at random. The first group was the experimental group where the 7E-learning cycle was implemented and the second group was the control group received no special treatment or regular treatment. Based on the research results obtained conclusion as learning Cycle 7E model of learning quality to solving problems of class XI students in solving problem solving problems included in either category.

Abstract

The background of this research is the findings on learning difficulty by students in learning mathematics. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the effectiveness of problem based learning model with diagnostic assessment in improving problem solving ability, (2) to describe follow-up activities from diagnostic assessment result toward the achievement of problem solving ability, and (3) to describe the pattern of mathematical problem solving ability of students in terms of cognitive style. This is a mixed method research type concurrent embedded. The population in this research is students grade XI MIPA (Mathematics and Natural Science) State Senioe High School 1 Bojong. Data sampling of cognitive style uses GEFT test, while sampling of mathematical problem solving ability uses a test. The effectiveness was analysed based on mean test, completeness test, difference of means test, and difference of proportions test. The result of this research shows that a learning using problem based learning model with diagnostic assessment is effective. Diagnostic assessment result is followed-up by providing appropriate treatment where students find difficulties which include repeating learning, giving particular guidance, giving assignments, asking and answering questions, and optimizing peer tutors. Problem solving ability owned by field independent students is better than that of field dependent students. Field independent subjects are able to master four problem solving indicators according to NCTM, which are: developing new mathematical knowledge through problem solving; solving problems in mathematics and other fields; applying and adjusting various appropriate strategies to solve problems; observing and enhancing mathematical problem solving process, while field dependent subjects are less able to master the indicators that have been mentioned.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the quality of Team Assisted Individualization learning with RME approach recitation on students' mathematical literacy abilities; and (2) describe the mathematical literacy abilities viewed from students' mathematical dispositions. This study applied a mixed method research type with concurrent embedded designs. Subjects in this study were determined based on the score of the mathematical disposition questionnaire of students in grade VIIB SMP N 40 Semarang in the academic year of 2017/ 2018. The data collection techniques were observation, tests and interviews. The results of the study showed that (1) Team Assisted Individualization learning with RME approach recitation has good quality; (2) students with high mathematical dispositions master the components of communication, mathematising, reasoning & argument, and devising strategies very well, the components of using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operation were well mastered, and the other two components are quite well mastered. Students with medium mathematical dispositions mastering well the components of communicaton, mathematising, and devising strategies for solving problems, the components of reasoning and argumentation and using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operation were mastered quite well but they have not been able to master the other two components. Students with low mathematical dispositions can only mastered three components quite well, they are communication, mathematising, and mathematics tools, while the other four have not been able to be mastered

Abstract

This research is aimed to (1) investigate the learning quality of the implementation of Creative Problem Solving model with recitation and self-assessment based on Ethnomatematics in students’ creative thinking ability; and (2) explain the creative thinking ability on Creative Problem solving model with recitation and Creative Problem Solving model with recitation and self-assessment based on Ethnomatematics in students’ metacognition. Mixed method with Sequential explanatory was applied in this research. The subject of the research was determined by students’ metacognition scores in VII C class in SMP N 1 Getasan academic year 2017/2018. Observation, test and interview were employed in obtaining the data. The data analysis appeared to prove that (1) Creative Problem Solving learning model with recitation and self-assessment based on Ethnomatematics has good quality in the stage of planning, learning process, and the final result of learning; (2) low metacognition subjects were able to fulfill the fluency an elaboration indicators, but flexibility indicator, novelty indicator and elaboration indicator had not been fulfilled yet; then moderate metacognition subjects were able to fulfill fluency indicator and elaboration indicator but the flexibility indicator and novelty indicator had not been fulfilled yet, high metacognition subjects were able to fulfilled the whole indicators includes fluency indicator, flexibility indicator, novelty indicator and elaboration indicator.

Abstract

The aim of this study are to determine the quality of the Learning Cycle 7E model and found a pattern of algebraic thinking ability of 7th grade students’ in solving algebra problem viewed by disposition mathematics. The research uses mixed methods study with concurrent embeded design. The subjects of this research were 7th grade students. Quantitative data was tested with the z test and Independent t-test, whereas qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. Learning quality is assessed from the planning, implementation and evaluation stage. The result of this research shows that Learning Cycle 7E model in good criteria. Students in the high mathematical disposition category were able to solve the algebraic problem from the generalization level, the transformational level until the meta-global level. Students in the medium mathematical disposition category were able to solve the algebraic problem from the generalization level and the transformational level. And students in the low mathematical disposition category were able to solve the algebraic problem only at the the generalization level.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) find out the description of the quality of ARCS learning assisted by problem cards on mathematical problem solving abilities of students (2) obtain a profile description of students 'mathematical problem solving abilities with field dependent cognitive style (3) obtain a profile description of students' mathematical problem solving abilities with field independent cognitive style. This research is a mix method research with concurrent embedded design. The study population was VIII grade students of SMPN 22 Semarang. The research subjects were determined based on weak, moderate, strong field dependent categories and weak, moderate, strong field independent categories. Data collection techniques of this research were observations, tests, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that (1) ARCS learning assisted by problem cards is appropriate both quantitatively and qualitatively on students' problem solving ability (2) students with field dependent cognitive styles in solving mathematics problem are still globally and less detailed in writing information according to the questions, write the answers incorrectly, do not check the correctness of the work and do not compile the steps of solving problems in different ways (3) students with field independent cognitive style in solving mathematics problem are understand the problems more analytically and do not write the same thing contained in the question, simplify the problem using their own sentences, apply the planned problem solving steps and obtain the correct answer, check the correctness of the work but do not compose the problem solving steps in different ways.

Abstract

This research was aimed (1) to know the effectiveness of MiC learning with recitation and peer assessment based on Semarang Culture to students’ mathematical connection ability and (2) to analyze students’ mathematical connection ability and self regulated learning. This study was a mixed method research with a sequential explanatory design. The population was 7th grade students of SMP N 32 Semarang academic year 2017/2018. The subjects was selected based on the students’ initial matehamtical ability which is categorized as upper, middle and lower group students. Data was collecting by questionnaire, observation, test, and interview. The result showed that (1) MiC learning with recitation and peer assessment based on Semarang Culture is effective on students’ mathematical connection ability, (2) students in the upper group category can connect between topics in mathematics, connect mathematical concepts with other diciplines, connect mathematics with daily life well and have a high level of self regulated learning, students in the middle group category can connect mathematical concepts with other diciplines and connect mathematics with daily life well and have a moderate level of self regulated learning, and for students in lower group category can connect mathematical concepts to other diciplines well and have a low level of self regulated learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of mathematical solving problems in a Blended Learning environment and to describe the students’ thinking process of mathematical problem solving is looked from the personality type. This research is a mixed methods research with concurrent triangulation design. The results showed that : (1) Learning is implemented effectively with the fulfillment of criteria testing for the achievement of the Minimum Completion Criteria and classical completeness; (2) A student with ESTJ (Extrovert Sensing Thinking Judging) and INTJ (Introvert Intuition Thinking Judging) personality types tend to use the thinking process of forming understanding and opinions with the right and consistent and forming conclusions with precise but inconsistent. The types of ESTP (Extrovert Sensing Thinking Perceiving), ESFJ (Extrovert Sensing Feeling Judging) and ESFP (Extrovert Sensing Feeling Perceiving) tend to use the thinking process of forming understanding, opinions, and conclusions with the right and consistent results. ENFJ (Extrovert Intuition Feeling Judging) types tend to use the thinking process of forming understanding, opinions, and conclusions with precise but inconsistent results. ISTJ (Introvert Sensing Thinking Judging) types tend to use the thinking process of forming understanding and opinions with the right and consistent but have not used the thinking process of forming conclusions correctly. The personality types ISTP (Introvert Sensing Thinking Perceiving) and ISFJ (Introvert Sensing Feeling Judging) tend to use the thinking process of forming an understanding with the right and consistent, forming opinions with the right but have not used the thinking process of forming conclusions correctly.

Abstract

Students’ low mathematical literacy ability causes the need for a learning using the right model. media and assessment to fix it. One of the alternatives is Rally Coach-Schoology model with diagnostic assessment. This research aims (1) to know the quality of learning using Rally Coach-Schoology model with diagnostic assessment towards the students’ achievement of mathematical literacy ability. and (2) to describe the results and follow-ups of diagnostic assessment in such learning. This quantitative research was done by quasi experimental design. The population was the students grade VIII of SMPN 4 Semarang in 2017/2018 academic year with the students of VIII D and VIII E as samples. The data were collected by documentation. observations. giving tests and questionnaire. and validations by experts. Data analysis was done both empirically and statistically using one-sample t test. proportion test. independent-samples t test and proportions comparison test. Results showed that (1) the learning using Rally Coach-Schoology with diagnostic assessment was qualified towards the achievement of students’ mathematical literacy ability. and (2) both students with low and moderate mathematical literacy ability had difficulties in relating problems to the useful concepts for problem solving. while students with high mathematical literacy ability were careless in doing mathematical operations. The follow-ups were done by peer tutoring and giving certain assignments according to students’ difficulties. therefore students’ mathematical literacy ability could be developed which can be seen from the average score of their final test results 74.58 and 88% of them got scores above the minimal completeness criteria.
