Abstract

ABSTRACTMillet [Setaria italica (L.) P. Beauv.] is one of the potential cereal crops to be developed in supporting food diversification program. The purpose of this study was to investigate the response of millet to low light (shade) condition. The experiment was conducted in the field with nested design that consisted of two factors that are, 1) Accession from Buru Island which are yellow seed and red seed; and 2) Shading nets that consisted of 0%, 40%, and 70% shade. Shade factor was designed as main plot, while accession factor was designed as sub plot. Growth (growing percentage, plant height, leaf number, leaf area, and plant dry weight), yield (panicle length and panicle weight), photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and carotenoid), and stomata density of the millet were observed. The result showed that the growth and yield of both accession were decreased by the increase of shading. However, yellow seed millet tended to be more tolerant than red seed millet with optimizing photosynthetic capacity through enhancing leaf area, leaf longevity, and enhancing antenna pigments such as chlorophyll b and carotenoid.Keywords: Growth, millet, photosynthetic pigments, shading, yield

Abstract

Plectranthus rotundifolius (Poir.) Spreng. is one of the potential root crops to become an alternative food. The aim of thisstudy was to determine drought resistant status of Plectranthus rotundifolius irradiated by gamma irradiation. Thisexperiment was conducted in the Green House using a Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors and 5 replications.The first factor was plant number consisted of 7 accessions (D116, D69, M343, D40, M95, D3, and Klefa Imut/KI). Thesecond factor was the level of field capacity (FC) consisted of 100% FC, 60% FC, and 20% FC. The observed parameterwere vegetative and generative growth stage, stomatal conductance, leaf water potential, and chlorophyll content. The resultshowed that the resistance level of the 7 accessions can be devided into 3 categories: 1) The plants that were susceptible todrought i.e. D116, D69, M343, and KI; 2) The plants that were semi-tolerant to drought i.e. D40 and M95; and 3) The plantthat was tolerant to drought i.e. D3.Keywords: Plectranthus rotundifolius, gamma irradiation, drought stress

Abstract

ABSTRACTSome commercial varieties of Guava seedless are triploid and rarely found naturally. A triploid variety with less seeds and better yield potential can be achieved by crossing tetraploid to diploid variety. Guava tetraploid plants can be synthetically induced by using oryzalin or colchicine to double the chromosome from its diploid. This research was aimed to obtain tetraploid lines by studying the effects of oryzalin in germination and in vitro growth of Guava. Seed from Red Guava were cultured in liquid medium MS + 2 mgL-1 BA with adding oryzalin according to the treatment, then seed planted in MS solid medium. Seed explants were exposed to Oryzalin 0 (controls), 15, 30 dan 60 ?M with exposure time are 23, 36 and 49 days or 3, 5, and 7 weeks. Results from polyploid induction were 8 tetraploid (5.48%) and 9 (6.16%) mixoploid shoots in vitro. High est tetraploid shoots were obtained from treatments by exposing the seed explant to 15 ? 30 ?M oryzalin for 23 ? 36 days. Oryzalin treatments inhibit germination and in vitro growth of Guava until 1st subculture. After second subculture, tetraploid or mixoploid shoots quantitatively showed no difference respons on in vitro growth with its diploid.Keywords: guava, tetraploid, seed explant, in vitro germination, polyploid

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of tetraploid banana in triploid banana breeding has been conducted through 4x x 2x crossing and/or its reciprocals, 2x x 4x crossing. However, the availability of tetraploid banana is naturally very limited, therefore artificially induced tetraploid banana is needed. The present research is aimed to generate tetraploid banana plants by crossing triploid banana ?Goroho? as female parent with wild diploid banana, Musa acuminata var. nakaii Nasution as male parent, and to characterize the tetraploid hybrid. 94 crossings were made by pollinating stigma of Pisang Goroho with polen of M. acuminata var. nakaii. Embrios resulted from hybridization were in vitro rescued and propagated. Hybrid plantlets were then acclimatized in the green house and seedlings were planted in the field for two cycles of banana reproduction. Ploidy identification, morphology and molecular characteristics were also conducted for two cycles of banana reproduction. Results of the experiment showed that 9 hybrid seeds were produced from 94 pollinations. However, only 2 hybrid embryos grew and developed into shoots and from two shoots only one shoot was survived. The one shoot were then in-vitro propagated to produce 21 hybrids planted in the field. After being evaluated for two plant reproductive cycles, all hybrid plants were tetraploids (2n=4x=44). The hybrid plants had drooping leaves, bigger fruit diameter compared to both parents, and blunt fruit tip. DNA (RAPD) profiles of tetraploid hybrid showed that 37.5% of the bands were from female parent, 37.5% from male parents, and 25% from both parents. The tetraploid hybrid ?GRNK? is expected to be useful in triploid banana breeding in the future.Key Words: Hybrid banana, tetraploid, Goroho, Musa acuminata Colla var. nakaii Nasution

Abstract

In this paper the evaluation and repair of a bridge failure are presented. The method is of analytical bridge evaluation, which consists of in-situ visual inspection, measurement of the bridge dimensions and quality test of the steel material. The data were used as input in structure modeling using SAP 2000 in order to calculate the required strength (Ru) of each structural members. Calculation were done to obtain the design strength (ØRn) of structural members and connections.The bridge components are in a safe condition if its design strength is greater than or equal to the required strength or ØRn ≥ Ru, If not, the bridge is categorized as failed and then a repair method and strengthening shall be be performed. The result showed that all of structural members and connections are in a safe condition. Bridge failure is caused by such factors as less precise execution in the field, combination of a large bolt holes and tightening bolts that have not reached the minimum tensile strength.The proposed bridge repair method is to provide two pieces of plates. The plates were welded at the end of the rod and drilled at the position of the existing bolt holes in order to avoid the bolt shifting.Keywords : bridge failure, bridge evaluation, required strength, design strength, , repaired method  AbstrakPada makalah ini disajikan evaluasi dan perbaikan dari kasus kegagalan sebuah jembatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah evaluasi jembatan secara analitis yang terdiri dari pemeriksaan secara visual di lapangan, pengukuran dimensi jembatan dan pengujian mutu bahan baja. Data tersebut sebagai input dalam pemodelan struktur dengan SAP 2000 dan diperoleh kuat perlu (Ru) masing-masing batang. Perhitungan juga dilakukan terhadap kuat rencana (ØRn) baik batang maupun sambungan. Komponen jembatan dikatakan aman jika kuat rencana lebih besar atau sama dengan kuat perlu atau ØRn ≥ Ru. Kemudian dilakukan penentuan kegagalan jembatan serta metode perbaikannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua batang dan sambungan aman sehingga penyebab kegagalan jembatan bukan karena kekuatan batang maupun sambungannya melainkan faktor pelaksanaan di lapangan yang tidak tepat yaitu kombinasi antara adanya lubang baut yang besar dan pengencangan baut yang belum mencapai gaya tarik minimumnya. Metode perbaikan jembatan yang diusulkan adalah dengan memberi dua buah pelat penguat yang dilas pada ujung batang dan dilubangi sesuai dengan posisi lubang baut yang ada agar tidak terjadi pergeseran baut.Kata kunci : kegagalan jembatan, evaluasi jembatan, kuat perlu, kuat rencana, , metode perbaikan

Abstract

This paper presents the case of non-detructive method application for the measurement of concrete pile depth on retaining wall structure. The method used is of ultrasonic impact echo (pile integrity tester). Measurement was conducted on piles and sheetpiles at points that can be reached due to difficult site in a poor site. Twenty 20 specimens were measured and 7 sheetpiles were measured. Measurements were performed not less than five times. Results of measurement were show that the length of pile ranges 4.4 – 13 m and the length of sheetpile ranges 9.9 – 12.1 m. This means that there is no joint at pile or sheetpile but crack occurs.Keywords : pile, sheetpile, depth, pile integrity tester, ultrasonic, crack.1. PENDAHULUANStruktur bangunan yang sudah berdiri kadang-kadang memerlukan pemeriksaan. Hal ini bisa terjadi karena berbagai alasan, di antaranya adalah untuk verifikasi disain apakah struktur yang sudah berdiri tersebut sudah dibangun sesuai dengan disain yang direncanakan atau tidak. Selain itu, kadang-kadang suatu struktur bangunan memerlukan pemeriksaan karena bangunan tersebut mengalami kerusakan dan akan diperbaiki, namun tidak ada data/informasi Abstrak Makalah ini menyajikan kasus aplikasi cara tidak merusak untuk pengukuran kedalaman tiang pancang beton pada suatu bangunan turap. Metode yang digunakan adalah ultrasonic impact echo (pile integrity tester). Pengukuran dilakukan terhadap komponen tiang pancang dan turap pada lokasi-lokasi yang bisa terjangkau mengingat medan yang sulit di lapangan. Jumlah komponen tiang pancang yang diukur adalah 20 sampel dan jumlah komponen turap yang diukur adalah 7 sampel. Setiap pengukuran dilakukan minimal lima kali. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa komponen tiang pancang kedalaman berkisar 4.4 – 13 m sedangkan komponen turap kedalaman berkisar 9.9 – 12.1 m. Hal ini berarti tidak ada sambungan baik pada komponen tiang pancang maupun turap akan tetapi terjadi retak.Kata kunci : tiang pancang, turap, kedalaman, pile integrity tester, ultrasonic, retak

Abstract

Pada makalah ini disajikan analisis lendutan balok beton dari sebuah gedung. Analisa dilakukan menggunakan software berbasis finite element method (FEM) dan eksperimental dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis tumpuan dan tipe penampang balok terhadap lendutan.Dalam analisis menggunakan software FEM dilakukan perhitungan lendutan menggunakan persamaan lendutan balok pada dua tumpuan dengan asumsi sebagai penampang balok biasa dan penampang balok T. Selain itu, juga diperhitungkan kondisi tumpuan yaitu sebagai tumpuan sederhana dan tumpuan jepit-jepit. Dalam evaluasi secara eksperimental dilakukan uji beban terhadap balok beton yang bersangkutan sesuai SNI 2847 2013. Sebagai beban uji adalah air dan sebagai pengukur lendutan adalah linear variable displacement transducer (LVDT). Perhitungan lendutan di tengah bentang dengan software berbasis FEM dengan asumsi balok T dan tumpuan jepit-jepit menghasilkan lendutan untuk balok C 1-2 sebesar 1,652 mm dan untuk balok 2 A-B sebesar 1,987 mm. Lendutan netto di tengah bentang hasil uji beban untuk balok C 1-2 adalah sebesar 1,263 mm dan untuk balok 2 A-B adalah sebesar 1,625 mm. Dengan demikian pada eksperimen ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa lendutan balok beton hasil evaluasi menggunakan software FEM melalui perhitungan dengan asumsi penampang balok T dengan kondisi tumpuan jepit-jepit adalah yang paling mendekati lendutan hasil evaluasi secara eksperimental melalui uji beban

Abstract

Perbincangan tentang perempuan sejak zaman dahulu memang tidak ada habisnya. Setiap perbincangan tentang perempuan akan menempati posisi paling dihormati, namun di sisi lain perempuan akan menempati posisi paling rendah, baik dalam dataran sosial, budaya, ekonomi, politik, bahkan agama. Dalam tradisi Islam, sebagaimana diungkap oleh Yunahar Ilyas (1997), ada empat macam yang diyakini sebagai cara penciptaan manusia ; 1. Dari tanah (penciptaan Adam as); 2. Diciptakan dari (tulang rusuk) Adam (penciptaan Hawa); 3. Diciptakan melalui seorang ibu dengan proses kehamilan tanpa ayah, baik secara hukum maupun biologis (penciptaan Nabi Isa as); 4. Diciptakan melalui kehamilan dengan ayah secara biologis dan hukum atau minimal secara biologis semata (penciptaan manusia selain Adam, Hawa, dan Isa). Titik berat dari tulisan ini terletak pada pandangan lama, yakni mengenai penciptaan hawa. Sehingga timbul pertanyaan dari gambaran ini apakah Hawa diciptakan dari tanah, bahan yang sama sebagaimana Adam diciptakan ataukah dari bagian tubuh Adam?

Abstract

The authenticity of the Qur'an as a scripture is undoubted by its adherents. But when they talk and deal with polygamy verse, it seems it was rejected. Ziauddin Sardar stated that this polygamous verse denotes prohibition. In line with Sardar, Siti Musdah Mulia thinks that polygamy degrades the dignity and value of women. The view of both figures areat odds with texts in well-documented hadith literature that lead to its allowance. This paper attempts to understand both pro and contra sides by accommodating some of the insights and approaches that make it possible to understand this verse.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the creative economy phenomenon in Bengkalis City, explain the existing obstacles from the aspects of Administration, Technical, Operations and Management of Creative Industry entrepreneurs, analyze interventions through policies that have been carried out by the government, then describe development strategies that can be carried out by the Bengkalis government. The Research method was exploratory, where the process of mapping the obstacles in the creative economy industrial applications using purposive sampling technique that involves creative Indutri players. then doing descriptive analysis techniques related to government policies and strategies in developing the creative economy in Bengkalis City. The results of the Mapping constraints are from the aspek of ATOM (Administration, Technical, Operasional, anda Management) shows the constraints most felt by Creative Industry players, namely regulation of raw materials, especially the industrial subsector that relies on natural resources (administrative aspecst), high risk due to product failure (goods/ services) offered to the market (technical aspects), the scarcuty and high cost of raw materials to produce their business product (operasional aspects), and the existence of limited creative economy business in getting skilled employees who want to pursue the creative work of the business (management aspects). A number of breakthroughs that have been taken by the government are by implementing provincial or regional scale policies, which provide business protection, create business climate, and develop the creative economy. As well as creating the Riau Creative Network Agency to further optimize the development of the creative economy and aspects of its promotion. The development strategy needs to be done which has the aim so that the existing policies and strategies are more adaptive according to the needs of the city of Bengkalis and respond to existing challenges and constraints. Keywords: Creatice Economy, Goverments strategy, Development Strategy, Small Medium Entreprices (SMEs).
