Abstract

The era of globalization and automation has brought fundamental changes to the economic structure and work environment. The integration of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation in industry has not only increased efficiency but also disrupted work practices and human needs. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the traditional paradigm of human development has been replaced by a new adaptive paradigm, which is in line with the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and 5.0. The method used is literature research, which describes various national and international academic sources related to classical human capital theory (Schultz, 1961; Becker, 1964) to modern knowledge economics (Drucker, 1993; Romer, 1990). The results of the study show that human capital development currently involves synergy between technical expertise, digital literacy, critical thinking skills, creativity, cross-field collaboration, and work ethics in a digital environment. This new paradigm emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning, data literacy, and adaptability as the foundation for working effectively in a workplace disrupted by technology. The success of Indonesia's demographic bonus and economic transformation is linked to the ability of the government and educational institutions to improve the education system, increase digital literacy, and strengthen intercultural understanding. This study suggests that human development centered on innovation, creativity, and digital literacy is the primary means of ensuring inclusive and resilient economic growth in the era of globalization and automation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students’ learning motivation through a literature study method. Data were obtained from various national and international journals discussing the implementation of PjBL and its impact on learning motivation. The findings indicate that PjBL is able to increase students’ motivation because project-based activities encourage active engagement, collaboration, creativity, and responsibility in completing tasks. In addition, PjBL provides meaningful and contextual learning experiences, making students more enthusiastic, focused, and motivated during the learning process. Thus, PjBL can be recommended as an effective learning model to enhance students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the perception and challenges of students to learn vocabulary through English pop songs. This study used a qualitative descriptive method using a sample of 8 students in the 7 semester of the English Education Study Program at PGRI Delta University which were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and analyzed by mapping respondents' answers on several themes. Research indicated that students who found English pop songs to be a fun and motivating medium because they could acquire vocabulary using lyrical repetition, but there were also some challenges such as fast tempo of songs with unclear pronunciation, unfamiliar accents that used slang and metaphor and distractions due to focusing more on music than words. It could be concluded that pop songs in English were a solution in learning vocabulary, but lecturers or teachers needed to guide appropriately and choose songs selectively so that they could be used optimally and minimize obstacles.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) is a well-established early-life biological risk factor for respiratory infections; however, subnational evidence examining its role in childhood pneumonia in Indonesia remains limited. This study aimed to examine the association between low birth weight and pneumonia among children aged 12–59 months in Sumatra, Indonesia, while accounting for demographic, health service, and environmental factors. A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (IHS). The analysis included 21,466 children aged 12–59 months residing in Sumatra. Pneumonia status and low birth weight were defined according to the SKI standard definitions. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed using sampling weights to account for the complex survey design. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were reported. The prevalence of pneumonia among children aged 12–59 months in Sumatra was 1.0%. Children with a history of low birth weight had markedly higher odds of pneumonia compared with those born with normal birth weight (aOR 14.9; 95% CI 9.2-24.1). Household cooking fuel use was identified as a confounding factor, but not as an interaction. Other factors, including vitamin A supplementation, immunization status, and area of residence, were not identified as confounding or interacting factors. Low birth weight is a strong determinant of pneumonia among children aged 12–59 months in Sumatra. Reducing childhood pneumonia requires integrated strategies addressing both early-life biological vulnerability and modifiable household environmental exposures.

Abstract

HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Determining Control) is one of the K3 programs in ports that identifies hazards in activities or work processes. Initial interview results showed that there had been an incident during the loading and unloading process at PT Pelindo Dumai which caused minor injuries such as slipping, broken bones and hitting the head. Observation results also found that there were workers who did not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This research aims to determine and analyze the risk of work accidents using the HIRADC method among container loading and unloading workers at PT Pelindo Dumai I in 2023 through the variables of hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control. This type of research is observation with a qualitative analytical approach, and was carried out in July 2023 through document searches, direct observation, and in-depth interviews with 5 informants, namely 1 person from the K3 section as key informant, 3 workers loading and unloading crates packing as the main informant and 1 Supervisor as a supporting informant. The results of the research show that in the three stages/process of container loading and unloading, 25 sources of danger have been identified and the results of the risk assessment obtained a low risk level of 20% with a total of 5 sources of danger, a moderate risk level of 44% with a total of 11 sources of danger and a high risk level of 30 % with a total of 9 sources of danger. The form of hazard control commonly implemented at Pelindo I is the use of PPE. The company should remain consistent in implementing briefings and emphasizing the use of PPE. Apart from that, workers also need to take active relaxation breaks to relax muscle tension due to work.
