Abstract

The skills for self-care and self-help should be taught to children, particularly for students with intellectual disability. This study aims to identify the influencing factors for self-care and self-help abilities in intellectually disabled children. The research employs a case study methodology, with observations conducted at PGRI Special School Bangorejo (PGRI Special Needs School of Bangorejo). In particular, the research identifies the rationale for seventh-grade special school students who are unable to perform self-care and self-help skills related to personal hygiene, such as bathing, brushing their teeth, and dressing independently. In light of these findings, the researcher has identified potential solutions to address the existing challenges, thereby enabling students to engage in self-development activities related to self-care and self-help, such as bathing, brushing their teeth, and dressing independently.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the findings of a problem at the State University of Malang Laboratory Kindergarten, namely the need for a better understanding of the responsibilities of regular teachers towards students with special needs in the classroom, as well as the lack of collaboration in implementing differentiated learning. Therefore, this service program aims to improve teachers' ability to collaborate for differentiated learning in inclusive schools at the preschool level. The methods used include material delivery and activity evaluation. This program targets teachers and principals. The results showed that teachers gained a very good understanding of collaboration in differentiated learning. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, there was a significant improvement with a score of 65.85% (moderately effective category).

Abstract

This research uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory method. The population in this study was all thirty twu ASN teachers at SMPN 3 Situbondo. The sampling technique used saturated sampling, where all members of the population were used as samples. Data analysis and hypothesis testing used Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 application. The research results show that Work Commitment has a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction, while Work Culture and Work Discipline do not significantly affect job satisfaction. Furthermore, Work Discipline has a positive and significant effect on Teacher Performance, but Work Culture and Work Commitment do not significantly affect teacher performance. Job Satisfaction also does not significantly affect teacher performance. Subsequently, Work Culture, Work Discipline, and Work Commitment do not significantly affect teacher performance through job satisfaction. This research concludes that Teacher Work Commitment is very important in increasing job satisfaction, but Work Culture and Work Discipline factors require further attention for a more significant impact on job satisfaction. An increase in Work Discipline directly correlates with an increase in teacher performance. However, job satisfaction has not been able to become a significant mediator in improving teacher performance.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of service quality, product design, and location on purchase decisions and customer satisfaction at Batik Rengganis. A quantitative approach was employed, and data were collected through questionnaires distributed to Batik Rengganis customers. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS- SEM) version 3.0. The results of the study indicate that service quality and location have a significant influence on purchase decisions, whereas product design does not have a significant effect. Moreover, none of the three independent variables; service quality, product design, and location, have a direct impact on customer satisfaction. Interestingly, purchase decisions were found to have a significant influence on customer satisfaction. However, no mediating effect of purchase decisions was observed in the relationship between the three independent variables and customer satisfaction. This study reveals that although service quality and location play an important role in influencing purchase decisions, these factors alone are not sufficient to ensure customer satisfaction. The findings provide practical implications for Batik Rengganis business owners, highlighting the need to go beyond operational improvements and adopt more comprehensive strategies to enhance customer satisfaction holistically. Furthermore, this study contributes to the marketing literature, particularly within the traditional crafts industry by investigating relationships among variables that have been rarely examined in previous research..

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-oriented physics instructional tool on sound waves to improve collaboration skills in an inclusive high school setting. Using the ADDIE model, the development process included need analysis, instructional design, expert validation, and limited classroom implementation. The product consists of a syllabus, lesson plans, a student module, worksheets, and assessment instruments tailored for diverse learners, including students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Expert validation involving material, media, and instructional tool reviewers resulted in scores within the “very good” category (average >3.25). Classroom implementation involved 28 students, including one deaf student, who engaged in group-based activities. Student responses showed high acceptance (mean score = 0.74), particularly regarding contextual learning and fair task distribution. Observation using Brookhart’s collaboration rubric, showed medium-to-high improvement (average normalized gain = 0.67). Notably, the deaf student actively contributed to group tasks, highlighting the product’s inclusivity. These findings suggest that STEM-based instructional tools can effectively support collaborative learning in inclusive physics classrooms. The study recommends further large-scale implementation to validate impact on broader student populations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the recruitment system, selection mechanisms, and professional development for special education teachers in Banjarmasin City using an explanatory sequential research design. In the first stage of the research, quantitative data was collected through questionnaires distributed to special education teachers. The sampling technique used in this study was probability sampling with simple random sampling. The sample size was determined based on the Slovin formula with an error margin of 5%, which was 60 special education teachers. Next, qualitative data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with relevant stakeholders. The data analysis techniques used in the qualitative research stage were (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawing. The quantitative research results revealed that most of the respondents were women aged 25–34 years, had a bachelor's degree in special education, and had more than five years of teaching experience in positions of honor. Correlation analysis showed a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.502) between the recruitment system and teacher professional development, which contributed 25.2% (R² = 0.252). These findings confirm that a good recruitment system can improve teacher professionalism, which ultimately supports the success of inclusive education. Meanwhile, qualitative results show that the recruitment of special education teachers in Banjarmasin follows regional regulations by involving the education office and inclusive schools. Although a bachelor's degree in special education is preferred, the limited number of graduates requires flexibility in the recruitment process. The main challenges include budget constraints and the lack of qualified teachers, thus requiring supportive policies, increased funding, and collaboration with universities to improve the quantity and quality of teachers. Professional development is carried out through various training programs, but still faces obstacles in the form of budget constraints and the lack of a continuous evaluation system.
