Abstract

Aggressive digital promotions encourage excessive consumption patterns that are not based on needs. From an Islamic perspective, uncontrolled consumption can be contrary to sharia principles, but the extent to which Islamic values are able to control consumer behaviour still needs to be studied further. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of Islamic values in controlling the consumer behaviour of Muslim consumers in Bandung City. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand the subjective experiences of Muslim consumers in dealing with social media promotions. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, involving consumers who actively shop online. Data were collected through interviews and analysed using NVivo. The results showed that Islamic values such as qana'ah, prohibition of israf, maslahah, hisbah, zuhud and tawakal play a role in controlling consumption. NVivo analysis found that the prohibition of israf, qana'ah, and maslahah were dominant factors in limiting excessive consumption. Understanding hisbah helps consumers be more selective about promotions. Meanwhile, the attitude of zuhud forms psychological resilience to consumption pressures, while tawakal instils inner peace and reduces the tendency to shop in response to financial anxiety.

Abstract

Generation Z has grown up in a hyperconnected world where digital careers often deliver faster and more visible success than traditional academic routes. While numerous studies have addressed digital literacy, career motivation, or higher education individually, little is known about how these factors intersect to shape Gen Z’s perception of higher education’s value in the digital economy. This lack of integrated understanding limits universities’ and policymakers’ ability to respond effectively to Gen Z’s evolving career expectations. This study addresses the gap by examining how Gen Z evaluates the relevance of higher education when success is increasingly defined by self-directed learning, digital visibility, and entrepreneurial opportunities. A systematic literature review was conducted using ScienceDirect, applying Boolean-based queries on Generation Z, higher education, perception, motivation, and digital careers. From an initial pool of 3,255 records, 63 research articles (2016–2025) met the inclusion criteria based on publication year, article type, subject relevance, language, and access status. Thematic synthesis identified five key influences: personal motivation, the appeal of alternative careers, perceived relevance of higher education, institutional responsiveness, and socioeconomic pressure. These findings contribute to a conceptual framework that repositions higher education within the realities of the digital economy, offering strategic insights for universities and policymakers to design more adaptive, relevant, and attractive learning pathways for the next generation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the phonetic miracle (iʿjāz shautī) of the Arabic letter Qāf (ق) in Surah Qāf, aiming to reveal its rhetorical, acoustic, and epistemological functions within Qur’anic discourse. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research applies micro-corpus analysis via the QSoft platform. Classical Arabic phonological theories—including makhārij al-ḥurūf, qalqalah, and tajānus ṣawtī—were systematically combined with semantic mapping of significant roots such as Q-R-A and Kh-L-Q to highlight the interplay between sound and meaning. The analysis identified 57 occurrences of the letter Qāf, with 76% situated in theological contexts directly related to themes of creation, resurrection, and divine power. Detailed assimilation patterns were observed: 20 progressive/regressive, 10 partial, and 27 unassimilated cases, all contributing to unique sound textures in the surah. Furthermore, the rhythmic recurrence of Qāf every 3–5 verses provides phonological anchoring, reinforcing the surah’s central messages while intensifying its spiritual resonance. This recurring sound pattern demonstrates that Qāf operates beyond its mere articulatory function, serving as a thematic and epistemological anchor that ensures continuity and coherence across the surah. Ultimately, the study concludes that iʿjāz shautī in Surah Qāf is not only an aesthetic phenomenon but also a measurable rhetorical force that strengthens Qur’anic daʿwah through phonetic precision, symbolic depth, and divine intentionality.

Abstract

This paper is a case study on the science of Tajwid in the Qur'an, investigating the patterns of tasydid recitation as a phonetic topic within the field of phonology. This study describes two types of tasydid: those written in the mushaf and applied in recitation, and those resulting from word assimilation, referring to Tajwid rules using a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data was taken from several recitation samples in the Qur'an, specifically from Surah As-Shams containing tasydid, and classified according to these two categories. Through this research, it is hoped that there will be a consistency between the recitation and the writing of each tasydid category, namely original tasydid and hukmi tasydid. Factors influencing the duration of tasydid include differences in phonetic systems, recitation style choices, and Tajwid rule preferences. Given the importance of phonology in learning the Arabic language and the urgency of tahsin and tajwid education at all educational levels, this study examines the phonetic aspects of tasydid pronunciation. Based on the analysis of the recitations of Surah Al-Isra verse 1 and Surah An-Najm verses 1-15 by qari M. Yasser Arafat, 14 tasydid entries were found, consisting of 7 original tasydid and 7 tasydid from the Idgham assimilation process. This research is expected to be beneficial for teachers and students in the process of learning Qur'anic recitation or qira'ah competence as well as Tajwid knowledge in the wider community.

Abstract

Introduction: Epistaxis or nosebleed is one of the emergency conditions in the field of otorhinolaryngology that is often encountered, especially anterior epistaxis. Allergic rhinitis can be a predisposing factor for epistaxis due to chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa that causes fragility of blood vessels in the Kiesselbach plexus area. Objective: To report a case of anterior epistaxis in a patient with a history of allergic rhinitis, and to evaluate the appropriateness of the diagnosis and management based on existing theories and literature. Methods: This writing is a descriptive case report of a patient who came with complaints of nosebleeds. Anamnesis, physical examination, and supporting examinations were performed to confirm the diagnosis and formulate management. Results and Discussion: The patient was diagnosed with anterior epistaxis triggered by the underlying condition of allergic rhinitis. Therapy given was in the form of local treatment (cauterization) and antihistamine medication to control allergic symptoms. The evaluation results showed significant clinical improvement without recurrence. Conclusion: Anterior epistaxis can occur as a complication of chronic allergic rhinitis. The diagnosis established through anamnesis, physical examination, and supporting tests is consistent with the theory outlined in the literature review. Appropriate treatment of underlying causes, such as allergic rhinitis, is crucial to prevent recurrence.
