Abstract

                                                           Abstract Indonesia's literacy level is still low based on the results of the 2018 PISA survey, prompting the government to create a School Literacy Movement program. Understanding the values of Ki Hajar Dewantara's teachings is also not yet fully understood. This research aims to describe and provide meaning behind the phenomena seen in the implementation of Ki Hajar Dewantara's teachings in the GLS program in elementary schools. This research uses qualitative research, this research systematically describes the facts found in the field. The data collection techniques used in this research are interview and observation techniques. Ki Hajar Dewantara's noble values played an important role in the implementation of the GLS program. Ki Hajar Dewantara's views on the trilogy of education centers and the leadership trilogy for implementing the GLS program. The existence of the GLS program for children was developed to be independent in their work and improve children's ability to think critically about things. This is in accordance with the concept of literacy, namely growing children to develop reading, writing, speaking, calculating and problem solving skills at a certain level of expertise in everyday life.Keywords: Literacy, Teachings of Ki Hajar Dewantara, GLS

Abstract

Indonesia's Independent Curriculum emphasizes character development through the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children, yet implementation effectiveness in elementary schools remains underexplored. This study analyzed character building through the seven habits program, examining implementation patterns, embedded character values, barriers, and stakeholder perspectives. A qualitative case study design was employed at Sidomukti State Elementary School, involving 35 fifth and sixth-grade students, three teachers, six parents, and three students for in-depth interviews. Data collection utilized questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and systematic observations conducted between May and June 2025. Data analysis followed Miles et al.'s iterative procedures involving reduction, display, and conclusion drawing with inter-coder reliability exceeding 80%. Implementation varied significantly across habits, with community engagement demonstrating highest consistency (M=32.60) and early waking presenting greatest challenges (M=10.49). Each habit embedded distinct character values including discipline, honesty, spiritual devotion, cooperation, gratitude, and social responsibility. Four primary barriers emerged: insufficient parental capacity, pervasive technology interference disrupting sleep and social engagement, lack of formal curriculum integration, and limited educational resources. Unexpectedly, external accountability structures facilitated rather than undermined self-regulation development. Successful character formation through habit-based interventions requires comprehensive parenting education, formal curriculum integration, and whole-school technology governance policies addressing systemic barriers across multiple ecological levels.

Abstract

In the era of Kurikulum Merdeka, creativity remains a critical yet underdeveloped competency in elementary Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) learning, often limited by conventional methods. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) offers a promising approach to foster creative thinking through authentic, inquiry-driven projects. This qualitative descriptive study involved 28 fifth-grade students at SDN Rejowinangun 1, Yogyakarta, during May 2025. Data were collected via observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation of project artifacts, and a creativity rubric assessing fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Analysis followed Miles and Huberman's interactive model. PjBL implementation in a solar system arrangement project significantly improved creativity, with post-intervention modal score of 4 (very creative) at 42%. Students showed increased idea generation, collaborative innovation, and detailed elaboration, alongside high engagement and unexpected creative deviations. Findings align with constructivist and cooperative learning theories, extending prior evidence on PjBL in science education to integrated IPAS contexts. The model effectively bridges knowledge gaps in Kurikulum Merdeka implementation.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital menuntut pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sumber belajar yang inovatif dan relevan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas penggunaan YouTube dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek guru dan siswa kelas rendah sekolah dasar. Instrumen penelitian meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan angket siswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video pembelajaran berbasis YouTube meningkatkan perhatian, motivasi, serta keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran. Selain itu, guru terbantu oleh penyajian visual yang konkret sehingga memudahkan pemahaman siswa. Temuan ini mengimplikasikan bahwa YouTube dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan daya tarik pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of paper pulp-based digestive organ torso props with the STEAM-Tri N approach in enhancing elementary school students' creativity. The problem stems from the need for interdisciplinary learning methods that stimulate creative thinking through hands-on activities. Using descriptive qualitative methodology with an explorative approach, the research involved 20 fifth-grade students at SDN 3 Jogosetran, Kalikotes District, Klaten Regency in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in creativity with 80% of students successfully achieving Creative and Very Creative categories, while only 5% remained in the Less Creative category. The integration of the STEAM approach with the Tri-N learning model (Niteni, Nirokke, Nambahi) successfully created an engaging project-based learning environment, activating students' divergent thinking, innovation, independence, and collaborative skills through the digestive system props creation process. In conclusion, this pedagogical approach effectively transforms traditional learning into an active, creative experience, significantly contributing to developing students' comprehensive understanding and skills in the context of 21st-century education requirements.

Abstract

Integration of cultural elements into the learning process, especially in mathematics, functions as a strategic approach to create a contextual and interesting classroom environment. This study aims to develop ethnomatics-based mathematics learning media that integrates local culture to improve critical thinking skills of 5th grade elementary school students. This study is a type of research and development that refers to three stages: preliminary study, model development, and trial. The subjects of this study consisted of 66 fifth grade elementary school students in Klaten Regency, Central Java who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The data collected quantitatively to determine the average score, by categorizing based on the evaluation table referred to by the criteria, then analyzed qualitatively. The preliminary study was conducted through observations related to local culture that is relevant to the concept of mathematics and a needs questionnaire. The product developed is a plasticine learning media in the form of traditional cakes as an aid in understanding the concept of geometry. The trial results showed significant improvements in four aspects of learning: conceptual understanding (from 70 to 90), critical thinking skills (from 74 to 89), collaboration (from 75 to 95), and local cultural knowledge (from 70 to 95). These findings indicate that ethnomatics based on local culture is not only effective in improving students' academic abilities, but also in strengthening cultural understanding and collaborative skills. Thus, this approach is worthy of being used as an innovative alternative in mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Kebiasaan konsumsi camilan tinggi gula pada anak usia dini dapat meningkatkan risiko penyakit tidak menular seperti obesitas dan diabetes melitus tipe 2. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan anak usia dini tentang pemilihan camilan sehat rendah gula melalui pendekatan edukatif yang interaktif dan menyenangkan di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 27 Kota Semarang. Metode yang digunakan mencakup ceramah, diskusi, permainan edukatif “Kotak Pintar Nutrisi” dan “Sehat atau Tidak? Tempel dan Tahu”, poster, serta evaluasi pre-test dan post test. Kegiatan dilakukan selama 75 menit kepada 16 siswa usia 5-6 tahun. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan 68,75% siswa memiliki pengetahuan rendah. Selama edukasi, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa, 93,75% siswa menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan baik. Uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0.001 (p < 0.05), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Edukasi gizi dengan media visual dan permainan terbukti efektif dalam membentuk pemahaman dan kebiasaan memilih camilan sehat rendah gula pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Smart Literacy media based on Tri-Nga integrated ethnomathematics in elementary school geometry learning and to determine the level of validity and practicality of the developed media. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model which limits it to four stages, namely analysis, design, development, and implementation. In the analysis stage, it is carried out through analysis of needs, student characteristics, curriculum, and local cultural potential. In the design and development stage, it has produced Smart Literacy media that integrates the ethnomathematics context and the Tri-Nga stages (ngerti-ngrasa-nglakoni). The validity of the media in this study was carried out by material experts, media experts, and language experts. The validation results show that the media obtained a percentage of 92.8% from material experts, 96.8% from media experts, and 91.6% from language experts, where all are in the very valid category. The implementation stage was carried out through a limited trial involving 3 teachers and 9 students to determine the level of practicality of the media. The results of a limited trial indicate that the Smart Literacy media is highly practical. This media is able to present geometry learning through the integration of local cultural contexts and comprehensive learning, encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Thus, the Smart Literacy media is declared valid and practical, and suitable for use as a geometry learning medium in elementary schools. This research is recommended for further testing the media's effectiveness on a broader scale and for developing similar media for other mathematics materials.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the problem of the lack of students' ability in mathematics subjects, especially in the addition of natural numbers, which also affects the learning outcomes. This research was conducted to determine how the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Approach method can optimise students' learning outcomes in the addition of natural numbers. The participants in this study were students of class 1A Timuran Elementary school, Kemantren Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model consisting of two cycles, where each cycle included two meetings. The instruments used includes test sheets and observation sheets. Data were analysed using qualitative and quantitative methods, where qualitative analysis was carried out descriptively, while quantitative analysis was carried out by calculating the average value. The research findings indicated an improvement in students' learning outcomes, which was seen in the cognitive results of students when taking the test. In cycle 1 meeting 1, the percentage of classical completeness reached 60% with an average of 67.86. In cycle 1 meeting 2, the percentage of completeness increased to 70% with an average of 76.79. Cycle 2 meeting 1 showed further improvement with 82% completeness and an average of 83.93, while in cycle 2 meeting 2, classical completeness reached 100% with an average of 88.57. This study concluded that the application of Realistic Mathematics Approach was effective in improving students' learning outcomes in mathematics subjects, especially the addition of natural numbers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of integrating local wisdom into science learning on improving elementary school students' scientific literacy. Students' scientific literacy in Indonesia is still low due to less contextual learning. The integration of local wisdom into science learning in elementary schools is also still limited and has not been widely explored. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects were 26 fifth-grade students of MI Nahdlatuth Thullab. The instrument was a scientific literacy test based on the OECD framework integrated with local contexts such as the Rasulan tradition and the Gunungkidul ecosystem. Data were analysed through validity, reliability, and N-Gain tests. The results showed the instrument was valid and reliable (α = 0.812). Local wisdom-based learning improved scientific literacy with an average N-Gain value of 0.32 (moderate category). These findings indicate that the integration of local wisdom can be a more meaningful and contextual learning alternative
